  1. Oh well, Who wants to go to Maine this fall anyway. The last thing i want to do is shoot a big moose. . I feel like a Ranger fan, maybe next year,Maybe next year.
  2. Maine & N.H. moose drawing this month, Been shut out 14 years in a row. Im sure i'll be disapointed again
  3. Deer on the front lawn at Sagamore Hill , Theodore Roosevelts home. How ironic that when he lived there, no deer were on the property.
  4. My gsp is 14 and going strong, just an FYI, they are an 8 cylinder engine. They need tons of exercise. I picked mine up at 6 weeks and started training from day 1. When you find one post some pics.
  5. When I drew a moose tag in 2011 for zone G, I saw tons of tracks,Droppings and area's that were browsed out by moose. It took 3 days to finally find one but they are there.
  6. Is vermont having a moose season this year? Its almost march and there is no lottery application yet on the Vermont fish and game website. Maine & NH started accepting applications several weeks ago.
  7. Funny side story, my uncle was a corrections officer on Rikers island at the time. That game caused a prison break. Several of the guards were crowded around a TV watching the game, when 3 inmates broke thru a window in another room. Once outside they realized their on an island in 20 degree weather with no way to get to the main land except for swimming. 2 of them knocked on the door of the cell block and asked to be let back in, the 3rd guy went for it by jumping in the water. His body was found by the Verrazano bridge in April. Thank god my uncle was off that day.
  8. Welcome aboard, I'm from Cold Spring Harbor.
  9. While visiting my ailing mother at NY Presbyterian hospital in Manhattan, the view from her hospital room window over looking the Hudson river is awesome. We spent the afternoon watching two bald eagles flying back and forth up the river and return to a nest under the GW bridge. Eagles over Manhattan, what a great sight.

Phil would make a nice stew.
  11. January 31 The worst day of the year.
  12. 6 inches so far on the north shore, wind really starting to pick up and the worst part of the storm is just about to start. It's going to be a wild night.
  13. Vermont Fish and Wildlife reports 567 bears taken during the 2014 season. Thats a lot of bears for a small state.
  14. For rooting for a team that has only won 2 championships in 80 years, 1 in your life time, I salute you. Personally I prefer the team that has won 4 in 40 years. The beast of the east is rising. The Islanders are replacing Cindy and the Pens as the team to beat.
  15. That pretty much sums it up best, I would just add that they may not make out what you are at first, I've encountered several while my treestand is on my back, breaking up my outline. Seemed like they were confused as to what this thing is walking through their woods. Also they may feel that they are well consealed at that moment and unaware that you can see them. Believe me,If they perceve you as a threat, Their gone.
  16. Slow this morning, a few shots heard earlier. Very windy, I think that has them a little skittish
  17. Now that the dust has settled on 2014, Just curious on every ones opinion of the staus of 3H. After 2 very poor seasons with either no bucks seen and little deer sightings, which is surprising considering we have had 7 years of AR. 2014 has been a good year. The deer population seems to have grown in my neck of the woods and although I did not see any boone and crockett's, Seeing several bucks during the bow and rifle season was worth paying the tolls. I want to believe AR is working..any thoughts.
  18. I drew a tag in VT in 2011. Hunted hard for 3 days,Saw only one cow which I took. This guy keeps attacking people right outside the back door of my condo at Sugarbush.
  19. A moose tag in Maine..and maybe a cure for all diseases...but mostly a moose tag in Maine.
  20. My daughter sent me a picture of another moose terrorizing the skiers at our place in vermont
