Looks like a flea collar. -
Most birds have been super quiet or hened up around here. That's between 6k & 7m. I saw a bunch of activity & strutting pre season but it was like a switch after the opener. I also remember recent past openers when there was frost. Looking forward to some cooler cloudy weather - this bit of heat wave feels like the end of May already.

I enjoy a few favorite WMA spots I know now and then. Got him on 2nd set, 1st set - busted by two does. He would not leave his hens, had to agitate the hens and bring them all in for the shot. (9:20am) Spotted his fan just before I was going to cut a small feild to get to the spot. Was a good 30 minute show, from the shooting postion I was sort of sitting on my ankle/foot. After the shot my ankle was so numb it took a few minutes before I could stand & get him. If I would have moved to repostion the hens would have spotted me. 9" beard, 1" spurs, nice fan tacked down, boraxed & saved for another project when the times good. Winchester 1300 - Fed premium flight control 3" 5's - 35 yards. Slammin`

Sometimes it depends on how much junk your willing to carry with you. The old intruder jake coming into a feeder hen is usually a safe bet. I don't like any decoy that looks to alert.
