Depends on what powder you use. I shoot blackhorn 209 and If I'm not storing it for a long time I'll shoot mine 40-50 times before a good cleaning. With a dry patch every 10 or so shots.

Look at the Cva hunter they are nice and light you can get the compact stock for it. Last week my daughter shot about 30 rounds through mine and had a blast

I know I already said 7mm-08 but I would also add 44mag my daughter is 8 and doesn't really like shooting her 7mm-08 and I changed the stock on my Cva 44mag for and put her compact stock on it and she loves shooting it. Hunting bait there won't be any long shots and a 44mag out of a rifle would be plenty to kill a bear out to 100yds

Smaller doesn't make less mess! Most smaller cartridges are faster.

Remington, Ruger, or Savage?
Buckmaster7600 replied to Steuben Jerry's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I have never liked the feel of savages and I HATE the accutriggers and what ever ruger calls their copy of it. I have 2 ruger Americans and they are shooters for sure. Remington has undoubtedly let their quality slip. For the price of the remington you could get a Tikka t3 and in my opinion Its the best rifle in that price range and better than many that are more expensive. -
I know many others on this site use unpopular cartridges as do I. I have always had a thing for the 35's. When I start talking guns with friends and co workers they always ask why I use my odd balls and I always tell them if they have to ask why they wouldn't understand. My 35 whelen doesn't do anything my 30-06 won't just as my 358 doesn't a 308. When I started getting into handgun hunting I never considered a 357 or a 44 instead I Decided on 10mm, 41 rem mag and a 357 maximum. So my question is what odd balls do you shoot and why?

When I moved back to NY after getting out of the service I requested an unrestricted and everyone told me no way. MY letter to the judge told him that I have a concealed carry in 4 other states and can carry concealed in over 35 other states so I felt I should be able to do the same in my home state and it was approved.

Muzzleloader pistol law question
Buckmaster7600 replied to bowtech2's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I have the optima pistol and it's an awesome "fun gun" but I haven't carried it in the woods and likely never will. It's too heavy and big to be carried as a "pistol" and you basically have to shoot it off sticks. By the time I add the shooting sticks and the gun it ways more than my muzzeloading rifles. It sure is a lot of fun to play with and is super accurate. -
LIVE from the woods 2015 Edition! - Sixth Year Going Strong
Buckmaster7600 replied to burmjohn's topic in Deer Hunting
Haha, I actually take a 3 month vacation to get away from those "turkeys" -
I think it is a lot of things as previously posted I will add that antler restriction and less doe permits in some areas alleviates a lot of the shooting at tales or movement.

LIVE from the woods 2015 Edition! - Sixth Year Going Strong

My approach must have been good and quiet, I'm surrounded by turkeys. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Head lamp, matches, knife and a handgun and I would be just fine.

It turns out our neighbors to the east "vermont" like NY money and don't care where your mailing address is so they are more than willing to register our "unregisterable" vehicles this allows me to use it ice fishing. If you would like you can pm me and I'll give you the info to the dealer than hooked me up with the needed paper work. But if your not interested in using it for anything else by the sounds of it I might be taking the plate off for the summer and adding a triangle.

My good buddy lives 2.5 miles as a bird flies from me and every year that one of us gets a mature buck we we will both have pictures of him. This has been going on since we started using trail cams 10 years ago. Often times one of us will have pics during the summer and the other one will kill him, it has been that way for the last 3 years anyways.

Your comment sparked my interest because I have a CAN-Am and mine is registered and insured. Because of that mine is illegal to be a on a public road. I already knew that I could probably get by with a slow moving vehicle sign because there is clearly a grey area. So I called my county Sheriff and he is supposed to be calling me back today with the answer. He told me he honestly had no clue that there was a difference between them and a regular atv as far as the law goes.

Hey, good catch my powder bowl weighs 28gns and I don't use the Tare button so my actual load is 90 gn by weight. Please do not try 118 gn by weight in your guns.

CVA accura mountain rifle shooting 118gn by weight blackhorn 209 with a 250gn barnes .451 handgun bullet in a harvester slug. It has a leupold vx2 3-9x33.

I know of a few camps in the speculator area that are looking for members. If your planning on staying in a hotel it doesn't take long to make up the 300-500$ in dues for year round access. If interested let me know.

Last year I carried 21 different weapons during regular season in like 12 or 13 different chamberings. Life's way better with options ????????
-
I have had great results with barnes .451 250 gn handgun bullets in a harvester sabot. What are the pro's to using a full bore bullets?
