  1. Yes, that is my favorite store, i am planning a trip to go there just to "visit", of course after the taxes arrive ... am going to offer to help find more info on this gun at their library as you mentioned..
  2. i made up my mind, all brassica and clover seeds will be Deer Ag this year.. They used to be WI and have been satisfied but, i really would like to try a new brand.. so DeerAg it is for 2016
  3. Hey guys, Sorry i do not get on here much during weekends.. i do not have much of an update.. Shes called the NRA and left voice mails with several individuals just waiting on a returned phone call.. still She has contacted the American Rifleman and they told her to send physical picture copies through the mail and her membership number... which she does not have.. And a few other places had told her to disassemble the gun and look for more markings/stamping on the individual pieces themselves..
  4. Awesome, can you post when the new seed arrives, or pm me? ill place an order or two... thanks!
  5. she went there, and all they could tell her is possibly Belguim and a revolving shotgun maybe.. if i ever get some time i told her id do some research to help her get information... just have zero free time besides break time at work lol...
  6. Hey guys, im inquiring for a friend, her father left her a gun that even local gun shops do not know anything about .. so i was hoping someone here could maybe help. She is looking to just get info about it, the make, possible model, era, you name it.. the only thing the shops and local museum could tell her is, that it seems to be a revolving shotgun from Belgium back in the 1800's... maybe If anyone has some knowledge of the gun or a place to inquire about it, we would greatly appreciate that... Thanks in advance
  7. i was just curious, because between myself and a fellow neighbor, we both tried GHR a couple years and had zero results.. thats why i was curious to the ratio of turnip to radish.. in case the same happens again atleast there is plenty of turnip for late season as well.. Splitg2 i think ill try the GHR again one more time, just mixed with turnip this time, cant hurt, It took a couple years to get the deer on brassicas now that i think of it.... worst case it should help the soil some.. Thanks. ill be ordering soon.. have about 3 acres total to plant between clovers and brassicas..
  8. You would think as money hungry as this state is they would hit them harder with fines/penalties. especially if you commit a simple driving infraction.. for the money they fine us there, compared to poaching... doesnt make sense..
  9. Hoping for a fairly dry spring as well, i love snow and winter but this year i think id be satisfied with very little snow.. I think the breeding season wont start until the hen feels the ground temperature is warm enough, for nesting.. so id say by march we would know better? idk, thats how i always tried to time it... but they surprise me every time.. dang birds..
  10. When i first started i took the ( 90 degree steel brackets off my old bunk beds when i was a kid, shoved the biggest piece of lumber i could possibly fit between them and bolted them to the lumber... whipped that around a bunch ... had an awesome plot... anything that will tear up the soil will work.. just kill the vegetation first.. i watched craigslist like a hawk, theres old equipment drags on there for sale all the time... hopefully in the next year or 2 when life slows down some i will start doing plots for (somewhat local) people and not rape them with price.. Also there are people around that already do this... Finger Lakes food plots is one I have seen, and there is also a guy on craigslist who advertises his food plot gig...
  11. Ive never done this before but will be trying this year in already existing clover plots, As i understand it, you want to do so when the day temperature gets high enough to thaw the ground and soften it up, and then at night it freezes over... doing this over and over again they say will draw seed into the ground some.. this is how I have understood it... So id say March time frame, early April.. and just play it by what the temps are doing during those weeks?
  12. yes i agree! we had an incident burning our trash after a late April weekend scouting turkey at camp.. lets just say we never burned trash again... as much as id love the benefits of burning... i can do without.. just keep the chainsaw fueled lol
  13. I would spend the money for that work... jus sayin... lol looks good!
  14. anything you can drag and scuff up the top couple inches of soil, will work.. make sure you have grasses/weeds growing there already.. kill em then drag the heck out of it.. if i had picture for some of the crap i fabbed up to drag behind my wheeler when i was younger, youd laugh out loud.. if you have the money get yourself an nice set of adjustable discs... depending on the engine cc of your quad...
  15. Thanks for the list grow, in my daily 135mi round trip to work, i drive steuben ontario and wayne county.. lol i will be ordering from ontario county now
  16. I watch these episodes all the time on my lunch break here at work.. typically where all my research is done.. lol. grant woods has some awesome stuff.
  17. What is the ratio of seeds in the double beam brassicas blend? I see it has radishes, I only ask because the last time i planted straight GHR (1.5 acres) they grew great, huge and the deer did not touch the tops nor the tuber, not one ... they only ate my turnips & brassicas... i would hate to plant them again if they wont eat them..? maybe they will in a mix ??
  18. awesome!! even better being daytime photos! i love late season when the bucks are grouped back up. some pretty cool pictures can be captured, i get sparring pics quite often as well.. The year stamp is wrong, Here is (3) good bucks sparring, they did so for about 1 minute, until the smallest backed down and the bigger 2 went at it for about 10 more minutes..
  19. If there's a good strong SW wind during season.. I usually focus my efforts on hillsides or bottoms that would be out of the wind(N, NE facing slopes) have found good number of does mainly in these places.. but I don't think a buck in the rut is going to change his ways because of a strong wind, he may check these places for does or something.. i think good bucks cruise more during strong weather systems, wind, rain snow.. etc.. during the rut anyways Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  20. We go to Wilson beef Farms as well.. they make great everything! Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  21. A friend of mine just put a 2 acre, 20' deep pond in on his newly bought 110 acres of woods.. they quoted him $16,000, ended up billing him for $20,000... They settled it somehow at $16,000. Was hoping to win some of that powerball, Lol!! i always wanted to get in to hardscapes, get a truck and dozer and do this kind of stuff(ponds, food plots, etc..) as a hobby for the poor guys like me...
  22. I have a couple sprign fed ponds and small streams that flow dang near all year, so i didnt think it was a need.. but if my own small watering hole, will draw a deer or 2, its worth it to me lol..
  23. We make the drive to Dundee, NY (Log City Meats) I think they are as good as Castanzas but cheaper! Next year I will be attempting to make it on my own.. fun to learn new things..
  24. 3-4" in Hornell, and about the same in Palmyra now with it snowing good this morning, this is why i love NY, the weather and all "Four Seasons" .. a mild winter would be nice for the deer's sake, but i love snow.. lol
  25. Never tried making a water hole yet, always wanted too.. especially seeings how a lot of my property has underground springs.. may try making one this spring as big as my cubs 4' bucket will dig... right in the middle of a plot im thinking...
