  1. I love my Browning and Cuddeback Cams, bushnells are decent as well. Id like to experiment with a few others but id hate to be let down and waste a week or 2.. As of now browning, bushnell, and cuddebacks are my arsenal..
  2. I will be using permithin for the first time ever this spring. Tons of ticks around and I've been lucky to never have to pull one off me yet. Just been crawling on me luckily Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  3. They are still using my "Murder Plot" like crazy. September 2015 WI oats and WI clover planted. The Ground blind is up for the youth season this weekend, also for my fiance's hopefully 1st kill, and if im lucky and have time, ill try to take one with the bow this spring as well. Good luck all.
  4. Good luck, like to tag a bird myself this year, but 2 youths and a fiance that wants to get her 1st bird also, well they're being my priority this spring! looking forward to the stories!
  5. Awesome! safe travels, and Good luck to you! I miss my adventures like those! dang adulthood.. lol
  6. This is my setup for what you can see.. its a Mossberg 535.. 22" barrel tipped with factory xxturkey choke. patterns 4's 5's and 6's unbelievable out to 65 yards. i prefer 4's. this will be my backup or 2nd bird gun. My dad was killed in March this spring, so im taking his old trusty 3" Mossberg 500 out first, it has a hunters specialty undertaker .660"?? super full choke This bird tipped over at 64 steps.. never flapped a wing. The only shot i had without taking him AND his buddy in the same shot..
  7. Never paid attention to the Full moon and its affect on turkeys behavior. I have noticed many mornings a bird doesn't make a peep on the roost, and all a sudden as you said, mid to late morning the woods liven up with gobbles. I will try to take note on this for the future. I still sit most all morning regardless, you know maybe doze off some when the warm sun hits ya and theres nothing happening.. you just cant beat being in the great outdoors, especially when neighbors and cars can not be heard...
  8. I love the longbeard xr #4s out of my 535. i have the same pattern as you at 65 yards. Picked up a box for my old mans 3" turkey gun and shot that yesterday. They seem to be an amazing shell. Have yet to kill a bird with them yet, but i expect good results. All longbeard xr shells: 1st pic my 3.5" #4 @ 30 yrd 2nd pic my 3.5" #4 @ 65 yards 3rd pic Dads 3" #5 @ 25 yards
  9. I agree with uncle nicky. And I've always wanted to try different styles of spring turkey hunting, I'm sure afternoon hunting is slightly different than morning when it comes to strategies. But I'd like to see for turkey numbers first. I know we're only given 2 tags per spring but they all don't get filled with our half day hunts. And many areas have low turkey numbers. Which could be for many different reasons.. just saying Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  10. If our turkey numbers were higher, I would like to see it as well. But until they get incredibly higher. I hope there never is a spring turkey season we can sit all day
  11. Just a few more from the past week card pull. Couple more cams got put out yesterday.. looking forward to seeing the results.. Birds everywhere, gobbling up a storm.. Cant wait for Saturday!
  12. I haven't been able to check my roost sites yet, but by the looks of the trail cam pics and the time stamps on the food plots.. they're doing the same thing they always do in spring... Guess we will find out Saturday morning.. good luck to all the kids!
  13. I love mine, awesome photos, day and night. Only a very few night pics have been bad. Bought back in September of 2015, has taken tens of thousands of photos already( no lie) between last fall, winter and this spring for turkey season. I just bought a 2nd cam that arrived this week. Cant wait to put it out. BTW both of these cams are the BTC-5HD Strike Force It is my favorite out of my bundell of cams!
  14. I will be attempting Turkey with a bow this year as well. Thanks Tinlodge for the link. Ill use my hypodermic rage heads. I did buy the guillotines, but heard you have to shoot a heavy, longer, more stiff spined arrow and i dont want to change my whole setup. so if the birds within 20 yards, i will aim for head/neck, any further i will aim for the body. I d just hate to lose any breast meat, or clip the beard.. Thats been the reason i havent taken my bow out yet..
  15. Their are very few shows that i follow, those are the local ones here in WNY and the ones that are informative.. I used to follow Drury's religiously .. then they became more lame.. until they came out with Drury"s 13 i do like that show.. they produced it for information only who what where why how setups.. i don't think they're ruining anything, but its all about the money. i just dont watch it much more. unless its a good informative show.. my dvr records a ton of shows, and i delete the majority of them before even watching them. I especially wont watch a show that hunts over bait pile, or that only rifle hunts. The shows that show real life are the ones that catch my eye... not the dreamy shows
  16. Awesome, When the kids get older I will be doing this as well! My buddy left for KY today as well! Good luck.
  17. LET EM GROW

    Bowfishing

I did it for a few years when i had the time. I just went out and bought a cheap old bow and backed the limbs down a bunch to the 50 lb or less mark. i bought a cheap bowfishing kit from bass pro and it worked fine. in fact my brother still uses it and its going on 10 years probably... If i were to do this again, id buy the kit with a reel, its kind of a pain in the ass doing it buy hand... but as long as your using the fiberglass arrow, aim real low if the fish is not the surface and have fun...
  18. Unless plans change, I will be taking my fiances younger cousin out Saturday 4/23 for the youth hunt. And on Sunday 4/24 i will be taking the neighbor boy out on their property across the rd.
  19. Exactly what I though G Man. I would never shoot a red head in fall. Only in spring. It's more fun and challenging I think. I have never went out to fall turkey hunt, but any hen turkey to give me a shot opportunity in the fall season while bow hunting whitetail.. I will try to harvest. It's kind of the same way qdm works in the deer woods.. in a way. As long as turkey numbers are plentiful.. take a hen or 2. They will get bred either way come spring.. I'm sure a Tom will find her when she's ready... Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  20. We've had good turkey numbers here in 8P for a long time. Once we take 5 or so birds we stop hunting so we don't wipe them out. Nothing better than listening to and seeing an action packed spring morning in the woods! I'd guess there's 30+ birds here. I've seen more birds everywhere this year compared to years pass.. 21. The numbers look good again, we hammered them hard last year. Took 6 longbeards last year all had 1-1/8" spur and bigger. Was nervous for this year. But it looks good so far. Again, these are only a few of the pics I had. The only downfall is, I may have a hard time pulling them in when there's 19 hens with 2 strutters!! Lol Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  22. Here are only a few pics from the latest card pull, i had hundreds of pictures of birds strutting in 2 weeks time. This camera is over my "murder plot", September 2015 planted WI forage oats, and WI clover. And my blind is setup just off the corner of the frame on the right side. Come May 1st i will put the cam on video, which will record sound as well in HD.. I was quite happy
  23. If i use decoys. i like to use a feeding hen decoys. Once in awhile ill use a jake, or full strut decoy. When im aware that there are no neighbors around. i would like to try the stalk with a full fan "blind"
  24. Awesome, I love seeing these Red heads Strut.. even the grouse lol
