  1. I willl check that out. Sounds great for all general use! Thank you!
  2. I agree completely. I'm not looking to make them look brand new, if it happens and they function and look good, great. But I'm ok with some defects or minor rust.. IT is an old gun. So i do follow and agree there. It just hurts, looking at a few of them as it almost looks like the stock and receiver are all one piece due to the color..
  3. Wish theyd start having better genetics around those parts..
  4. My grandfather passed back at Christmas time, and I recently inherited his arsenal, there are (4) Ranger 22s, several Remington 870s, 1100s, a VERY old Semi auto Remington and a few Ithaca Model 37s.. But the majority are quite rusty, from not being used and out of sight out of mind as my grandfather hasn't hunted or shot them in many years. The receivers and barrels on all of them are rust covered. I'd like to bring them back to life some, but have no clue where to start and how? So I want to ask you Gun Gurus the proper process or just a good process to clean these up some. They still function but i have not shot them.. Rather clean them up and replace seals first. They don't need ot be perfect but in better condition would be great. What would be a good process to do so? My intentions are asking my grandfather in law ( big gun guru as well) if he would have interest in cleaning these up in his free time. As I really don't have the time to tinker with them and cant pay the gun shop fees at the moment. I'm sure my GFather in law has a way he would clean them but would like to know some of your opinions or ideas/processes, So they don't get ruined beyond repair or even worse i should say.. Thanks in Advance..
  5. My rule of thumb is that I rely on electronics as little as possible.. i use that everywhere lol
  6. Mitutoyo or Starrett.. And I hate digital. So I use dial instead. Probably the Tool Maker in me..
  7. My 3 favorite Turkey Takers.. #1 .. Stevens 301 20ga.. w/ Indian Creek .555 with Burris FF3 optic shooting a 1-5/8oz handload of tungsten 8s #2 .. Rossi Tuffy 410 w/ Indian creek .385, Burris ff3 optic, 15/16oz Handload of tungsten 8s (pic is 35 yards) #3 .. ATI O/U 28ga w/ Indian Creek .525 top, Full choke Bottom, fixed sight, Shooting 1.5oz of Cherry Bomb tss 8s. Some hate TSS, its expensive, not needed, defeats the purpose... blah blah.. So is a 50cal ML and or a 308/30-06 for whitetail.. Its fun to tinker and make all my own Turkey hunting ammo, and make it custom to each gun.
  8. Just be easy posting about hunting with that tungsten, #8 is the smallest shot size legally allowed, until next year. #9 will be legal. Dont have to worry about me but others may get ornery about it. Id gladly pay a fine for being extremely ethical, and that the turds in control dont understand. That and those longbeards look good! both pattern well with my guns too!
  9. IT really is! The only thing green and actively growing right now basically. besides grass, and thats not a big deal. Great post!
  10. Neighbor has one, it shoots well! All depends on your budget and what you want out of it. My 200$ Single shot is by far my favorite Turkey Toter out of all my shotguns.
  11. My first guess was grouse, or duck. Cant tell if its the log or a head/beek under the fox chin. My 3rd and 4th guess is young woodchuck or squirrel lol. I cant zoom in on it ..
  12. Thanks, I don't mind driving YET lol, as long as the majority is during the day. or i can sleep all day then drive all night(which is not possible lol) And indeed it is so nice once there, especially this time of year when your over Winter season.
  13. Just got home from Hilton Head South Carolina, and The Villages in Florida... to come home to cold and a possible snow storm tomorrow? WTH I now know why The Villages are the place to Retire to.. Talk about heaven and nothing but great fun people! Makes me want to move their now and give up my rural life and slice of heaven up in the hills.. Wife and I and the kids did not want to leave.. Found out my little sensory seeker 5yr old Non Verbal Autistic son loves Disney Roller coasters, same with his crazy 7yr old sister. The smiles were worth every brutal minute of the night drives.. A Lot of miles were put on last week.. To HH two fridays ago, drove to The villages Tuesday, back to HH Friday and Home Saturday night.. Im done with Driving lol
  14. I own both, in 12 and 20ga and 410, Remingtons have a tad better quality in terms of fit and function. I purchased an 870 20ga express 2 years ago and it took me about 5 hrs to reassemble after taking it down and cleaning once i got home.. The quality must have slipped that day at the factory.. Im afraid to take it back apart or it may need to have parts replaced.. The only flaws i found in Mossberg 500 is the fore end rattle, the finish on the aluminum receiver for durability, and the safety tends to fail over time and only needs a cleaning to make functionable again. I wouldn't hesitate to buy either. Both Cheap, typically easy to fix and function shotguns..
  15. I have and it works. But you have to stick to it 100% Hopefully you dont get the keto hangover around day 7. Best of luck
  16. He searches Deer farms and Preserves.. dont let him kid you lol. They just dont have fences, and you cant quite pet them yet! lol
  17. And of all places you find it over dirt.. one of the last places one would look for an antler that falls off in winter. lol. Almost as frustrating as Turkeys can be!
  18. Mix of clouds/ Overcast, and 50/60.. light wind. They were going nuts this morning too! I cant rule out a light rain either!
  19. Theyll probably give you a heck of a trade in for it! Just got mine back up and running, 313 hours on it.. Going to see what they offer for a trade in with the bucket and rear tiller. mine is 2007 though. Best of luck man.
  20. After a nice long 0.2 mile walk i stumbled across these matches side by side.. lol. I could see them at the bottom of one of my late season plots. This deer didnt show much at all during fall, until late season, he was here nearly every day bulking back. Might make the hit list this year!
  21. Sorry I love Browning pics of Red heads! lol
