  1. I got a wild hair to build a new saddle mount for holding firearms that dont have MLok and Keymod Handrails, AKA Standard hunting rifles etc.. And still sit on a ball head or Leveling Base of a Tripod of some sort to have full range of motion.. The Arca on this application is bolt on. The next one I will make will be machined directly into it, as one piece. I just need to find somewhere that can black anodize if they aren't to expensive
  2. The darkness plays tricks thats for sure.. one inch or 100 yards lol. I watched my brother through the monocular to go pick up his yote the other day in the field, he walked right to within 8feet of it and couldnt find it, hilarious watching him look through his monocular trying to find it while hes damn near stepping on it lol
  3. Thanks, Im not a fan of them either for my application
  4. I use a 28ga O/U I love the gun, It shoots great both top and bottom barrels. I use a full in the bottom and Indian Creek .525 in the top. The Indian creek sends an insane pattern! I handload Tungsten turkey shells. I Think im going to have it dipped Bottom Land , Or buy another and dip that one.. They're t9oo pretty of guns to turn into strictly turkey guns for a poor boy like me lol. The only 2 down falls i have with mine is the trigger sucks! Also, I like Red dot style scopes/reticles and these guns look terrible with a holographic style optic on it. Luckily my POA /POI is the same
  5. Man, I feel for the pup right there. All i see is a possible heavy vet bill coming from that "Bushing" .. Looks like we will be going this weekend if the weather holds out.. Im pumped. This boy needs to run..
  6. Your not kidding, a back in the day (2004-2008) Wed go to my buddies family farm in Palmyra, They had a damn near non penetrable hillside of nasty nasty briars, literally dogs couldnt even get them, about 25 acres of this.. we put on our Carhart bibs, stomped and pushed through and killed 56 bunnies in 2 weekends, 38 the first day and 18 the following weekend.. They knew they were safe because you could see them, they see you and they didnt care, the gun pattern could reach them with ease, youd just have to fight like heck to get them out.. but it was worth it and we were young lol. Now I will not hunt bunnies unless the dogs are rounding them up... its amazing the joy of seeing and listening to these dogs do their work.. I love it
  7. Thanks man. Seems this gun seems to be somewhat on the rare side? I forgot to do a number check this weekend. Ill check when i get home lol
  8. IF you can find 90gr Nosler accubonds, OR Barnes 80gr TTSX/85gr TSX you wont be let down.
  9. Nice work on that double man! NV is tough sometimes in certain situations they seem to blend in well until you get eye shine.. Ive noticed running thermal that you can see it, no doubt but NV was struggling. I decided to stay in Friday, the wind wasn't worth it to us, Thinking Saturday night would have been better... Saturday night was a joke! half dozen sets and heard a coyote once all night.. was rough!
  10. My neighbor has 5 beagles, We have a 1 yr old Male Beagle and live in a Very heavily populated rabbit habitat. Im waiting for him to take me out as he said he would with his best dog now that deer seasons over, to ge tmy boy some training in... They went out Saturday morning and let his dogs run, They chased 12 bunnies and they all circled as they should. He went to shoot the last bunny so i can keep working with our dog Toby, But the gun didn't fire. No bunnies were taken, he just wanted to work the dogs.. Id like to think the dogs would enjoy a dead bunny though. My buddy and I used to go with his, and he gave his dogs, the fresh heart out of every bunny they killed, once they got back to the truck. It was their treat. Heres our boy Toby in his bi weekly Bath lol
  11. Thank you sir, I have won a few AB3 Browning the last few years and they shoot well. They are also custom Engraved Whitetails Unlimited New York Chapter. To be completely honest I didnt even read the barrel lol. I still got the better end of the deal so I didn't really mind. I really do not enjoy brakes on guns. It may get removed and threads capped. Thanks for the clear up sir. I do believe you're right it is an Abolt. Ill verify for certain later, but i do not second guess you.
  12. My buddy has one, and absolutely loves it
  13. I do as much work on my vehicles as i possibly can, Mostly because im cheap and dont want to pay for it.. unless its too serious of a job or time consuming. Ill learn my way through it. I change all our oil because i want the same oil used every single time.. Mobil 1 Full Synthetic. in the Caddy XTS, Tahoe, and even the 09 Civic.. And rotate tires once every 3 months.. half way through cold and warm seasons.. We buy our cars and keep them as long as possible. Im only 35, but getting tired working on stuff anymore, mainly because available free time is a thing of the past.. The only pain about oil changes is disposing the oil.. I have a good amount accumulated that needs to be taken to town.. before I am on a hit list lol. Most oil changes take 15-30 minutes.
  14. Thought Id reach out here, I recently acquired this 22-250 Browning X Bolt Medallion with Boss Brake. I am not used to higher end firearms, I typically buy cheap ones so I don't worry about dings or scratches and such.. I did a little research on the Boss Brake System and it seems pretty neat, especially for being nearly 30 years old now. I know There are some very knowledgeable folks here.. So my question is, Does this Brake system really do as they say, and make all ammo shoot great from this gun? I see you dial the brake to the number associated with the catalog, with that bullet weight and caliber. Then add a click/hash mark, shoot a group and keep adjusting one mark per group in the same direction until group starts breaking up, then bring it back once? The system sounds legit, but I dont know enough about barrel harmonics, to know if all ammo appropriate per twist rate, can be tuned that well? Kind of a interesting system.. Just looking to know more about it.. Also, with the muzzle brake on it it would make it even louder when fired in hunting scenarios.. Im not a fan of that. This rifle has a Leupold 3-9x50 I believe .. I'm curious as to what's the gun/scope combo is worth. A local gun shop offered me 1150$ for it as it sits. Not sure if I'm going to hold on to it or not.. Thanks in Advance..
  15. Does it have a Batman filter? To light up the sky?
  16. Lock this thread up. Gun has a new home. .
  17. I switched last year, and it may have been mentioned earlier.. but a standard carbon arrow with decent spine and not a monstrous broadhead should pass through with ease. If not, your bow needs tuning or your broadhead needs to be changed to something else.. The reason for heavier arrows is.. "Just in Case" and for anyone who hasn't been there, shouldn't comment against.. When you accidentally get stuck in a front shoulder, a heavier, higher FOC arrow with a single bevel head and alike helical or offset fletch.. will get you through the first shoulder and into the goods.. That is the reason for these arrows.. Also, a clean super super sharp head, from a well tuned bow will zip through a whitetail and when flying perfect, some deer act like they weren't even hit.. There are most certainly benefits from it, but as obvious as it seems, Speed drops fast, but energy gains! Arrows fly better too when there's more weight up front, Just like darts.. I machined 100 grain inserts for my Beman ICS 400 2 years ago and they flew better instantly. and much deeper into the target, even with a Rage head. 505gr TAW This year I switched To the super nova 250 spine shafts. Added 100 grain inserts ( if i remember correctly) and jumped up to a 125gr right single bevel head. My arrows are fletched with a 5degree right helical and they flat out drive deep into the target. I dont shoot past 30 yards for the sake of ethical shots. And this setup is just great. Im at 580gr. TAW. The Right helical, and Right single bevel helps literally "snap" bone and break them open or split them.. and allows more penetration.. Ive lost a few deer with both fixed and mechanical heads due to shoulder hits.. at very close range and the 30yards range. And I dont want that to happen again to the best of my ability.. this isnt bullet proof but it sure helps. This is not needed to harvest whitetail at all, but it is needed for "Just in case" .. Especially if shooting big bodied bucks.. why short yourself.. I shot at my number 1 hitlist buck a few years ago, 250+lb buck 8.5 years old... and as i watched my 390 gr Rage tipped arrow heading for him at 34yards, all I could think of the entire path of that arrow in that split second was, Idk if thats enough arrow for a big brute like that, at that distance.. But I missed and just cut back hairs.. Thats when I started experimenting and changing.. My z7 at 28" Draw 71# and rage tip.. had never had issues before, If heavy bone wasnt hit..
  18. Got out for our Annual Christmas Night hunt... Lots of action but only managed to walk away with a pair of fox from the first set, and a Nice Male Dog from the second set. A pair came in and despite some miscommunication and a dying IR Light.. only one dog was taken. Heard a bunch of coyotes from every set though.. Still enjoy just running the call/scanning for other hunters.. Wife became ill and lost my grandfather right before Christmas, so that kept us from getting back out over my 2 week vacation I live for this night every year..
  19. Got the neighbor out around the house last night.. 2 sets 2 coyotes.. Hes hooked. Got him to finally purchase Night Vision. And like anyone that makes the switch from lights.. ITs night and Day difference!
  20. They pick mine out instantly and wont return until the cams are gone.. "Blackflash" cams not so much..
  21. Ive shat on Toyota Tundras my entire life, IVe owned Rams, Chevys, Fords and im sick of working on all of them.. Every mechanic tells me to buy Toyota... Well it might be time.. to put my pride/ego aside and do so. I hate the name. but i hate the frustration of working on vehicles when I rarely have the time to do so as it is.. My uncle and grandfather are Die hard fullsize Toyota fans.. they've never had an issue with one and owned many in the last 15 years.. Sequoia and Tundra.. They Pull heavy duty enclosed car haulers (their corvettes) to the track to race and had zero issues doing so..
  22. Id be willing to trade for a Fast/Flat caliber in a Bolt Gun of close to or equal value as well.. 220swift, 22-250, 243, 25-06.. etc It wont let me edit post..
  23. Just checking to see if there's any interest here for a AR10 .243win.. Or I'm bringing it to the local shop to trade it in.. Shoots and cycles great.. 8 twist 20" barrel BCA Upper Armaspec Stealth recoil Spring Featureless- Fixed stock, pinned muzzle and shark fin grip.. (2) PMAgs Maybe 50 shots down the pipe.. $850 Local Pickup/Meet Only
  24. IT technically should be the opposite. You should see deer on their feet more as late season begins. They need to bulk up for winter. But this all depends on surrounding pressure. IF you hunting hard daily or your neighbors are etc.. It puts a damper on the herd movement. But in reality they should be moving more, and a lot during midday too.. Had 35 deer in one of our fields Saturday evening. and 47 in two other fields the night before.. I dislike the term nocturnal.. Just because you cant see them does not mean anything "Nocturnal" they adjust their habits to applied pressure within their core areas, they adjust routes/routines due to available foods per season, and so on.. They will be where they are most comfortable. Being the place with the least pressure.. and they will move there throughout the day and probably travel the earlier areas after dark.. where they will be sniffing everything that doesn't quite seem normal or that wasn't there before.. and learning..
