  1. They should basically be the same as standard Small Rifle Primers, just having a slightly harder cup as far as im told as well. Great for plinking rounds and im sure you can stilll develop a good load with them. I have my first 223/556 upper coming and plan to grab a box
  2. Yea, Id like to pick up a cheaper carry and see what they say to mine, I have to change my address anyways.
  3. My co worker just went yesterday and he had to do another background check as well? he didnt buy or add any new handgun to his permit?
  4. Could be, I am not up on my terminologies with NY and its "Safe Precautions" lol .. if i recall it was five years since anything was added to my permit as you speak.. and if thats the case every 5 years of nothing being added, I may have to get "checked" again? since March 2014 was the last i added a handgun.
  5. Well, I am confused as well. I first got my Permit in February of 2009.. Put a couple handguns on my permit shortly after.. Then in 2014 i went to buy my next handgun and the gun shop would not let me take the gun home even though paid for, until i had went and re certified or "however its called" at the County Clerk, as my first 5 years had just expired a few weeks earlier. It took about 3 weeks of time and i went back down and brought the handgun home. I have yet to do anything since that date so in my experience i will have to do another check to apply any handgun to my permit. Unless I'm wrong..
  6. Must be in certain counties you do. Bc I had to the last time i bought one back in 2014. 5yr recertification.
  7. Not sure what county you're in, A friend of mine just got his in 1.5months, He's in Alleghany, and there was no Sherriff meeting with the people whom he had sign for him. Best of Luck, I need to recertify so i can go get another new one..
  8. My local shop has those #41s in stock nearly all the time. but the price is about $40 stiffer
  9. Don't think I have ever shot a gun without asking or knowing exactly what caliber it was, jus saying.. must be done waiting for all their virgins? lol
  10. Like everything in this world, it all comes down to the individual not the implement at hand. This also includes their tendencies and use for said weapon. I know people who shoot 50 yard shots on deer who shouldnt be.. and i also know people who shoot 100 yrd shots with crossbows in open fields and extreme long range through the woods with crossbow.. resulting in wounded deer... these people also have zero guilt while walking away from a lost deer.. This holds true with every aspect in life.. driving, medicine practice, job titles in every position amongst life.. And its something that we will deal with forever unless you ask for total control, and i know the majority or all of us.. dont want anything to do with that. A compound bow can certainly be as accurate or more accurate than crossbows(especially vs cheap crossbows with crap tolerances).. Ive began to care less about full inclusion.. I still will never buy one, unless there was a Xbow season only.. and even then, I may sit that season out.. I see zero joy in shooting one.. My wife has her choice words for able men that would rather shoot Xbow over a vertical Compoound/recurve/long bow lol I love it!
  11. Make em talk! lol Open that gate and lead them to your dining room!
  12. My lowest model Leupold is the Rifleman.. the glass is very clear. mine is a 4-12x40 as for the freedom im not sure. But i can recomend the Rifleman for sure. ITs also a 1/2" per click at 100 yards instead of the more normal 1/4" per click at 100. As for the Vortex, I just bought my son the Crossfire ii 4-12x44 and its a phenomonal scope for 169$ very clear glass.. Seems to be a perfect hunting scope for the price. If you can get this model or the diamondback, the vanquish youll lose glass quality. I have several Leupolds and Vortex higher models and they are all good/great scopes. But Leupold has a great name for making great scopes. Go put your eye through both of them somewhere local before buying. ITs a must!
  13. Thats how we used to have ours done. But we recently just get ahold of the local farmer to add our field acerage into his Lime purchase throw him a few bucks and he spreads on our fields too.
  14. Food plotting can be simple, It is the start of your first plot that is the hardest part. If you can get soil tests in a bag and to your local ag dept.. or send them to Whitetail Institute.. I live 10 minutes from Swain, Know the area well. My camp is in Avoca NY and I live on the outskirts of Canaseraga. My soil at home is pure dirt, dark black in color.. My soil 30 minutes away at my camp is hard clay filled with Shale rock.. A rototiller gets beat hard on these properties. A harrow drag works best but you pull up a ton of unwanted rock, (more than you even realized was there). Your bes tbet is to get into NoTill Planting. you can do it with a quad, a lawn roller, any type of spreader and a sprayer for Glyphosate(Roundup). The idea is to terminate the currently growing crop, spread your seeds into the sprayed area a few days later as the vegetation dies, and roll the dead vegetation over top of the freshly spread seeds with a lawn roller a couple times in different directions. Do this with a rain coming in the future. This is extremely healthy for your soil vs Tilling.. And you also leave the rocks where they belong, and build a healthy soil over top and around them.. Msg me for more details if youd like. I have no till planted for 6 years now.. and food plotted for 2 decades almost.
  15. Dang, would have scooped the primer tool.
  16. Just chitty people.. Had a guy steal my favorite cam 2 years ago. Tresspassed into our property a couple hundred yards and stole it, dont have proof but 99% sure who did it.. my buddy moved a cell cam to try and watch him this fall for tresspassing, he found it even as camouflaged in as the camera was.. he reached around and snapped the antenna off the camera from the back side.. all these cameras are were legally placed. I found out the guy is a business owner with a "good reputation" on google... well everywhere his business was located online that i could find, I left a horrible review of how a business owner could treat people so poorly no ethics, no morals, no self control, and much more.. and made sure my name was posted on each one.. Again without having proof, i didnt want to go to the door demanding.. and trying not to stoop to his level, but im very close to retunring the deed
  17. Ph is good, but your Organic Matter means alot as well. Check your OM % .. a lower PH with high "OM%" can still produce great results. the beauty of soil.. My Camp property in Central Steuben County started out at 4.8ph and full of Shale, where my home property 20 miles west has the most perfect growing rock "less" soil you could ever imagine. Black in color.. I add lime every 5-7 years just to "spruce" it up.. but rotating crops, and planting big diverse blends will keep your soil healthier than just adding lime.. keep things growing or planted in the soil at all times of year.. worms are the soils best friend.
  18. ITs all genetics. They re just like humans. I had a buck we called "Whitey" just a big big body buck, very short nose, smaller than normal skull, very grey faced with a dark patch on his forehead.. really cool looking buck.. Killed at 4.5yr old. Just a neat specimen and proof that skull size doesn't mean much. 3 bucks killed on our lease this year, all 2.5 and 3.5 yr old bucks.. all 3 had different "sized" skulls in each direction..
  19. Suhweet! I just wanna hear it skimming across the water thottle down..
  20. Your quad will have way more than enough to push heavy or light snow.. IF we get a ton of snow over night, I just chip away at it, smaller less aggressive passes.. The first couple passes are the hardest and it only gets easier from there. Can always add weight to your back rack if needed.. but our added weight is usually plenty. I push the snow to the edge of the driveway/yard in shorter passes, like angling it across the driveway.. And i also keep the plow off the ground a few inches the first few pass, when i have more room then ill go back and scrape it down. You have more ground clearance by far compared to mine as well which will make it much easier... they didnt come with great ground clearance back in the day lol. you also just need to keep the momentum up as the snow piles up.. that machine will do amazing i grantee. Cant wait til i can upgrade mine. With my older lighter quad it makes it tough sometimes and takes longer.. 450 sitting at 600lbs if i remember properly. the lack of weight and clearance really keep this machine from being a real animal.. its geared so low even with the 26" knobby's on it .. mine will get in its own way lol Also remember, to push snow beyond the edge of the driveway, to leave room for the next time it snows..
  21. What size is yours? My old 450 pushes snow just fine. The heavy wet snow I have to plow it at like 5" at a time. OR i cant move it all.. But its not really due to power, just more of the weight of the machine and power transfer. If i recall you have a can am 850? plenty of power to plow.. my buddy just plowed off his field with his last week, plow to the ground and pushed with ease, mud lite style tires definetly help too
  22. What's your budget? There's really nice stuff out there if you wanna spend the coin.. like boss and Meyers plows.. For simplicity .. Moose, Warn, swisher.. My 98 Honda Foreman pushes a 60" plow I fabbed up from a garden tractor setup pretty easily. mount to the front of the frame where the racks come down, the front skid plate area. I personally would go with 60" if it were me.. and one that angles snow more than one that doesnt angle enough. A Rancher will plow fine, My buddy plowed off his food plots with his 850xmr last weekend for the deer... Just add 100 pounds to your back rack for more power to weight ratio.. Check youtube if your nervous.. IF the snow gets too deep to push all at once, you just raise the plow up a couple inches off the ground the first pass.. My Driveway is a big U shaped driveway.. ITs fun..
  23. The way luck plays out or as i call it luck.. When i hunt solo i typically need a hand from someone some how someway.. I used to want to hunt solo, cause Id have more opportunity.. and then i lost my dad, who was my " hunting buddy".. I do enjoy a solo hunt now adays but they typically become lazy relax and just breathe it all in type of hunts.. But i typically dont hunt unless i can bring someone else out.. My outlook on hunting has changed a ton in the last few years.. Kinda Sad, but life changes ya sometimes
  24. Id like to buy a kit of some sort and put one together one day soon.. its on my "bucket list" as either a small game gun or to use on a whitetail hunt
