Who is doing spring clover?

As Moog stated that is the general rule of thumb, ferns and or pines typically mean low Ph(acidic soil). This plot was super low effort as well. This spot was a mature Spruce plantation. I just spread this clover blend with soybeans down on the logging roads and decks. And let rain do its magic. I didnt roll it or anything. Pines forests are usually in, or create acidic soils. I have done, nor added anything to this plot and it literally took right off. No sunlight for several decades no veg on forest floor.. But the clover has done well. Thats one reason why i dont buy into all the hype, until i witness it first hand. Our soils are quite crappy, but we've grown just about everything on them so far.. and I refuse to use fertilizers. Besides the very rare application of nitrogen. Many seeds can be planted with very minimal effort. Good hard seeds will last awhile as long as they are free from moisture.. 7 years, that is impressive though! -
3 days.. Day 1 missed my target birds. Day 2 different property nothing heard or seen. Day 3 killed Day 1's target birds with my stepson. Awesome Double.

Depends what model you speak of.. I won 2 browning Abolt III guns.. 270 & 6.5cm. For winning them Im happy No doubt. Not sure id spend my own money on one for that price tag after owning them. Not bad but, they do feel slightly cheap IMO as well. But im really not complaining. Since I did not pay much to own them.

Just checked a DeerAg clover plot i started June 2017.. Needs a high clipping and maybe chemical but doing well! Same with a few others that were fall planted and frost seeded. Just hard to see through The WW nurse crop.. -
What's the farthest/shortest shot you've made.
LET EM GROW replied to mowin's topic in General Chit Chat
Closest: Bow- about 5 yards Gun- 10 yards ish ML Farthest: Bow- 48 yards Gun- 220 ML -
Just goes to show, any bullet will probably do the job.. with the right shot placement. Again, shot placement is key just like in Archery. Unless you build an extremely heavy arrow(way overboard for energy needed on whitetail) you can break through shoulder knuckles.. Im not the one who uses the 243, so i cant speak as for him as to why.. Other than that buck. its dropped every deer in its tracks out to 200yrds. I myself take my 50cal ML, the 7-08 or 30-06. The only deer to take a pilll from my gun would be bigger bodied deer and i want the extra power on hand..

My buddy shoots 85gr or 100gr soft point pills for deer. Never an issue. Unless you smash the knuckle on a giant big bodied buck. He lost the biggest deer of his life to a hit in this location. Buck crumbled on the spot, laid there "dead" for 10 minutes. Then randomnly stood up, took off dragging its rear legs for 20 yards then gaining all 4 leg movement back and surviving until 2018 season where he was killed by a neighbor during archery in poor health. For varmints we both use 58gr vmax which are devastating to say the least lol.

I understand mistakes happen, but the lack of communication here would have me pissed as well. You atleast deserve an honest phone call or something stating what had happened.. you pay your dues as well as he does. It could have made this situation much easier. I also know, that their tends to be some "cliques" within certain clubs, that always seem to get what they want..

Happy Birthday Dave!

I know Phade is quite impressed with this system.. He did state its a tad tricky to get setup but once running smooth.. It is awesome.

I think a lot of these birds just get a ton of pressure. Whether its us, the neighbors, the people driving by, calling at a bird we know we cant hunt just to get a gobble out of, the predators that are attracted when a tom gobbles and gives off his position. I think some of these birds can most definitely tell the difference between the hens they are around all year long. Ever have a tom answer to only the live hen and not you when you are trying to pull in one or the other? I can say these birds arent getting easier to hunt. Not sure if any predators can climb trees or not, but turkeys have predators all over the sky, and even more on the ground.. Ive had so much more luck the last 5 or more years when the hunting began getting tougher at my camp.. Just by scratching the leaves, and some soft clucks or soft yelps. We all know hens can get roudy in the woods, but its typically farther and few between when this happens. IMO. And everyone wants to call in a hot gobbling red head.. theyre the fun ones! Maybe its just me, but Turkeys have predators in every direction they go, more than anything else in the woods and the odds are not in their favor. I think they just adapt to their surroundings... Ie pressures I got the birds we doubled on, to goblble 5 or 6 times around 10 am to some more aggressive calling, since they decided to gobble on their own. the only times they gobbled all morning, and they only gobbled once or twice when I missed them 2 weeks earlier. To close the deal.. the scratching in the leaves in a perfect position did the trick.. Again I could be way off from others ideas.. but this is what I gather from my experience at my camp.. So i try to do things the opposite I believe my neighbors to be doing..

Bought my stepson his first gun, about 6 years ago.. a rossi single.. 410/22. Cheap and Neat little gun. I asked him about it the other day. Since he is into others guns he has received the last couple years(12g, 20, nicer 410, 17wsm, 6.5cm, 3030, 204 lol) has no interest in this one whats ever. Told me i can have it. My first thought was, I will thread the barrel and make a 410 Turkey gun.. but after more thought.. IThink I will just hold on to it and keep it clean for when he has kids one day.. Im sure he'd like it then as he matures.

Its probably been said, but plant or overseed a nice clover blend in and around these trees if possible. If you cant get a hold of hives. Ive been planting fruit trees the last 3 years and trying to incorporate clovers as much as possible. Keeps my plot maintenance down too since i don have the time to spend these days, like years prior..

New Xbow legislation for 2019 introduced
LET EM GROW replied to nyslowhand's topic in CrossBow Hunting
This sounds good, I like the introduction of the physical in able to use it and anyone 55 and over. thats great. Though i do see this as a move thru the backdoor as Gman stated. Changing wording around and such... Why would you have to do that, if not trying to sneak your way in.. Jus sayin -
