  1. Looks a lot like a graze hit from the pictures. Comparing to what i did to this guys belly on the very last day of deer season in 2011.. Healed perfectly fine. A slong as you didnt slit him wide open or enter the chest cavity. He should heal. As long is its not infected.
  2. We used to do a bunch of gun machining here where I work. Barrels, chokes silencers you name it lol. But the company finally caught on and put an end to it. So now whatever can be snuck in and out on occasion lol
  3. Sounds like either a graze/non lethal, or a possible liver hit if it ran then started walking(which needs atleast a few hours) Or a real low chest hit which can take 24hrs or more and will not stop if pushed IMO .. Liver hit wont bleed much besides drops of blood, probably would be blood at the hit site though. Low chest or graze would show blood early for sure I would think... I walked up to a buck years ago that was hit where the white and brown chest hair meet behind the shoulder.. perfect 3 blade broadhead in and out. Buck was still alive but stunk so bad I couldnt bear being within 20 yards of him. It seemed like he was hit atleast a day or more earlier. He was in bad shape, he would have passed soon no doubt. I almost stepped on him under a pine tree, he picked his head up as i was nearly stepping on him . Scared the heck out of me. Finished him off and never heard of anyone losing him. So my guess was he was hit several properties away and pushed and pushed..
  4. Few of my friends highly reccomend Kinton Guns on 332 in Farmington. The only shop they deal with The old Pro Gun shop. His reviews on google seem good too..
  5. I was really liking a varmint caliber that will sling a 70-85gr pill at some good velocities. Like the 224 valk, or 22 creedmoor. Something most people dont have. Or possibly getting a tighter twist barrel in 22 250. But again not a fan of having multiples of the same caliber guns.
  6. Our walmart has the 22 250 axis for 269 right now. Almost bought it just to mess with. With the cheap bushnell it comes with 3-9x40.
  7. If i chose to sell it, i have it sold for 325$ as it sits right now.. 3 ppl I know want it. Has 5 rounds through it. If i did rebarrel it would be in a cartridge i cant find a rifle in.. but still no clue which one yet. Looking for ideas i suppose
  8. I would stay away from soda, coffee etc.. Hit that free gym up and eat healthy.. you will feel revived with just the changed lifestyle.. and feel better after each workout. It really does work. ITs like getting your 2nd wind..
  9. Nice buck, and beautiful plot/pictures sir!
  10. Savage Axis XP 6.5cm Has anyone ever re barreled a Savage axis before? Been looking up Macgowan barrels online and how to seat them properly etc.. I won a Browning of the same caliber recently, dont need 2 of the same calibers at the moment. I do believe Savage has 2 different threads between the axis and its better models.. Guess im just looking at some options, other than selling the gun.. If its worth it.. Otherwise ill sell it.. TIA
  11. Id say a 3.5, possibly 4.5 .. No older. When was pic taken?
  12. You can call it in and stay anonymous if you choose... But depending on your area, DEC might not show up for it. IF you tell them the size of it, it may help. IT does suck, I have several neighbors who do it also. It doesnt bother me like it used to. What does bother me is the poaching part of things or illegally using tags. ..If you can use it in your advantage do so.. If you dont get along with the man, have at it. Id just worry about your relationship with the guy before the call... if there is one at all ...
  13. Im not one to tell anyone how to hunt or what they can shoot. You pay your bils, work your job, live your life and as long as its done legally. Do what you choose legally. But if its on my property, I look at where the hunter stands in his her hunting career. than ask politely to not shoot young bucks in areas where we manage. Other areas feel free to hunt how youd like, as long as legal. So in areas Doe tags are hard to obtain, or unavailable your ok with 3 buck tags? that doesn't even make sense! You cant make deer live on the property you hunt or frequent your stands if they have no reason to be there. Build up your property some and give the deer a reason to frequent or live on your property. Its like taking from a savings account but never putting money back into it.. eventually its going to go dry... No work goes in, all the work goes out. Numbers deplete..
  14. They are tough animals. And they dont bleed like deer do, due to their longer fur. I shot one a few years ago, a touch back. It jumped, spun a 360 and took off to the west like a bat out of hell.. Shot a buck shortly later. Later that day I tracked the coyote never found him, The next day I found him laying dead several hundreds yards, in the total opposite direction he ran from me after being shot.. Who knows how long he ran for still alive..
  15. If you dont have your property set up properly or are in the right locations based on property. Chances are slim to ever have an opportunity at a bigger older buck/deer. Ive learned this over the years in our managing practices. The very first thing NYS DEC can do about letting bucks age is get rid of the damn 2nd buck tag. Atleast for a few years. Let them populate back up a bit, by then a majority will have a couple years under their belts. Still gives hunters a chance to take one buck of choice. It wont change some areas totally. But I bet 50% of the hunters will fill both buck tags, or make it a goal each year to fill those 2 tags more than any thing else. We manage with about 50-75% Co-operation in some sort of management of passing young bucks up, some more than others.. But results are night and day. Could be better of course, but could be way worse. Last year our hit list of bucks got hit hard. And we are seeing the results of that, this year. The list is half the size or less, than what it usually is. We are not a Co -op, but just a lot of like minded sportsman. A co-op would be awesome but some people get iffy about signing up. If you feel you have to fill a buck tag every year or 2 or 3 or more.. then passing bucks is not for you IMO. Especially at the beginning stages or implementing your practice, where the bigger buck numbers are probably low. If you dont have property that gives a good buck reason to be there, it will be even that much harder to hunt them. They are hard animals to defeat. It takes a good game plan involving property layout, stand locations access points, food, security, water and most of all "patience".. to compete with a whitetail that has a few years under his belt.. or you just have to have luck on your side more often than not..
  16. I forgot all about the selfie challenge this weekend.. lol.
  17. Wheres the Pizza box?? lol! Even more extra points lol
  18. The way it all came about was illegal from the very beginning, but there was no harm ever intended in it. She lived outdoors 24/7/365 once she made it through the first few months.. She was completely wild, minus the fact of humans being a threat. The DEC even knew about her..
  19. Agreed, I wish nothing bad against anyone, especially ones children and family.. But that was a total dick move.. especially providing the facts and situation i cant speak of on here. Bigg D Bag. To keep it civil i just cut all ties with him that I can control. /he showed his real colors, thats for sure. She sure made for some really cool pictures though! lol
  20. He sure does. As legal as it was. Still wasnt right. Theres a little more to the story but i wont put it on here.. all in all , i totally agree with you. Yes he did. walked up to her, put his pistol to her head and told her to run...., well she didnt. After field dressing her, he took the collar off and buried it under a downed tree top so no one could find it.
  21. I absolutely love their old grips, much more than the new style grips. The wood grips that form fitted your palm/thumb.. Those are what made me love Mathews first..
  22. She would play exactly like a dog, just not know her limits and get rough with you when she got excited, a little too rough for kids. Shed chase your car down the road, She has Ruined several Turkey hunts on me from following me around then thinking it was play time when shed come up to me by running like a bat out of hell doing circles around me. She was a pleasure to have around. But unfortunately my neighbor highly disliked her(the only person on the hill who felt that way) waited for gun season to open and walked up to her with his handgun and filled his tag. Anyone on FB probably saw this story go around last fall.. She was fun to be around. Made my camp "her camp" basically
  23. Lot of guys dislike Mathews for some reason. But i have been a huge fan for 16 years now. Solo cams are super forgiving and still super accurate. And the Dual cams are super tight and quick. I have no reason to switch yet. Never had an issue with any of them ive owned.. Was considering a new Triax this winter, if the 2019 bows dont catch my interest first..
