Luna and Kunox's Tracking Journal 2018
LET EM GROW replied to outdoorstom's topic in General Hunting
I know 2 people who have both lost two deer already this bow season. It makes me sick to even talk to them or answer them when they ask me related questions yet not give a crap.. etc.. And they'll just keep hunting and forcing shots and then mush in with a team of terds through the woods in attempt to find poorly hit deer.. -
I will most definitely take his single stage press. and his reloading books. No doubt about that. But i still have to pick up everything else to go with it. At that point I think im still better off purchasing a kit from somewheres. Nothing super expensive but a good starter setup. Doesnt need to be super cheap, but cant pay an arm and leg for one..

IT could be a combo of the two. IF they don't receive adequate sunlight they get stunted for sure.. Plus deer browse. Will def make it look that way.

As mentioned earlier I was told Middle of Middle for bear. this was from a Finger Lakes Deer Search Tracker. I would normally aim as if it were a deer. I would imagine the intentions of this saying was to keep away from that front shoulder. Since the average bow setup wont break through one. Even with deer, id rather it a few inches back and track it properly.. than hit a few inches forward. Sorry, have not shot a bear yet.. but these words came straight from a Tracker himself. Plus the fact I have a lot of bear around me if the right opportunity present itself..

Is this Lee Turret style loader still a good setup these days? Looking to get into reloading as well this winter. Going to try and stock up on everything before then.. Loading for quite a few rifle calibers .223, 22.250, 243, 270, 6.5cm and more down the road.. but the smaller calibers first.. Maybe pistol is well.. My GIL said he has a single stage press with extras and such he will give me.. but id imagine its old, and not in the best shape.

Ive been wanting this to happen to my target lol. Weve had a lot of bears on cam this summer in 8P. Way more than usual. A couple different color phased bears as well.

Put some corn and alfalfa out there for him. Fatten him up! lol

Def get a caller or some mouth calls and have some fun when deer hunting is slow or after Deer season.. Or trap em.. Seems most effective if done right.. Just go tback into predator hunting.. man what a rush it is!

Archery :Quartering towards shot. Do you ?
LET EM GROW replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Bow Hunting
Why an Elk and not a whitetail? More room for error? Bones arent as tough on a whitetail compared to an Elk I would imagine? -
Archery :Quartering towards shot. Do you ?
LET EM GROW replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Bow Hunting
A very slight quartering towards me then yes, but the arrow goes behind the shoulder.. not in front of it. Unless your slinging 5 or 600 grain setups.. Good luck. I know people who wont pass this shot up and have been successful but.. Not me. Ive wounded a couple through my years with perfect broadside shots. Im Just not going to chance it. even though on a 3d target and i can sink them in there all day long. I did have to put a doe down that i spine shot 3 years ago.. when she collapsed she fell to her side and was facing me straight on from a 12ft elevation. I wanted her out of he misery as quick as possible.. So I tucked an arrow right under her shoulder and up through everything. She passed very fast after. But i wont do it again.. -
I dont have an option for you other than the youth model safety systems, but if you do get her out there, id highly reccomend a lifeline as well.. That way shes attached the second she leaves the ground. Maybe its just me but, i think a lifeline as well as some sort of body harness is your best bet. Id Hate to see anything happen to your precious little girl is all.

I would definitely get a game plan laid out and make sure to plant them where youll want them for a long time. With that being said, there is a member on here whom has a fruit tree farm where he grafts trees. His trees are mainly for feeding wildlife. Not sure if that was your plan or to feed your family? His name is Ryan, has high quality trees. I can get you more info if youd like.

Thats crazy! Most fox I see stay away from anything bigger than them lol. Turkeys and all.. Funny you post this.. Yesterday morning on my long commute to work.. I watched a fox harass a very big raccoon on the edge of the road. The coon could care less about the fox it seemed but that fox either wanted something he had, him or just to mess with him... Quite comical to watch really. lol

I hate having to watch your back every time you turn around these days, and around every corner or intersection you drive through because no one can be trusted. Such a shame how this society has become.. I hope he finds out who it is, and this person gets his ass handed to him..

That is crazy! both the same arrow? They are tough animals. I have an old boy, whos 9.5 yrs this fall. Two years ago, As a 7.5yr old he took a .270 round through the lower gut and survived! I have no clue how they are capable of doing such things. Attached are a couple pics of the scars on both sides the year after.. I am good friends with the neighbor who shot him there.

So Sorry for your loss John. My condolences to you and your family.

What are your goals, first and foremost? Sounds like your wanting to harvest either older bucks, or bucks with more points on their head set.. Antler restrictions save some young bucks but not all. If you want to try and harvest bigger older bucks, Start your season off by telling yourself, if i dont get a buck this year it will be ok! lol. Do a ton of research, QDMA website is a great place to start, grab some books.. AR's are ok but it can make a very genetically inclined deer die young still, and an old poor racked buck safe from anyone in the woods(quite rare but possible). If you guys just want to harvest respectable deer, have at it.. Just all be on the same page as one another.. From there all 4 of you agree on whatever it is you want to agree on.. and dont get away from the agreement! For example.. if you shoot a buck, you mount it(A seasoned hunter typically wont want to mount a small buck, and this is how we started well over a decade ago). If you guys can age deer.. Make sure 100% of the time you let 1.5 yr old bucks grow. Unless you have a youth or new hunter, make an exception. If you can let 2.5yr old walk with out hesitation. Your off to a great start. Again, it all depends on your goal.. or goals..

Hope these fish as well as other invasive can be controlled. That would be a shame.

Let me look Sir, My step son is 12 and goes through clothes like its going out of style.I think i have a pair of insulated camo bibs and jacket. If they didnt get thrown out in the move.. -
Only during a light drizzle in or around the rut.. my effective yardage shrinks dramatically to around the 20-30 yard max.. Too many factors to take in effect. I love hunting a cool damp or light drizzle kind of day. Just seems a bit magical in and around the rut.. more times than not..
