  1. For got about the NWTF supply. Totally agree Bob. I was just thinking of trying some big grain mix for late season this year. trying to offer better options to the deer than my neighbors do. And for the price you cant beat that. Last years beans (that i protected) Never fully matured, I couldnt believe it) Planted early June. Not sure what bean group was used. But with these being group 1, im all on board..
  2. I have several deer with fibromas on them. It wont affect the meat at all.
  3. Cant wait to put these between a set of eyes, or on the shoulder of a screamer! this glass is super clear
  4. There are some guys that eat the straps, and make jerky. Seen it on a few forums lol. Id try anything once.
  5. Its a good deal. I bought a few bags of the soybeans last year, but they got wiped out where i planted them, which i was expecting to happen.. I Will probably buy them again this year. Depending if i can get access to a field that is rarely used I may try the corn and Sorghum too. Cant beat the price. I believe the local QDMA branches will have access to these so you wont have to pre order. Unless things are done differently this year. As for corn plantings, I used to run a disk and angle it some so it would cut deeper rows, or drag a harrow so there were "channels" through the soil.. Broadcast seed, which should mostly fall into these rows, then lightly drag tires over the top. The higher soil will fall down into the deeper spots and should cover seed well. And now you also have mini corn rows. Corn i like under the soil for root strength in windy conditions and it can help the birds from pulling seeds as easy.. As for soybeans, You can do the same, but you can also leave them on top of the soil and press them into the soil with a roller before good rain. Ive pressed them right through the green lawn before and had great success doing so. Spraying gly the same day as well..
  6. Once them coyotes find it i bet you'll see some more daytime visits. Def open it up and be ready, i bet they'd be scavenged quick with all the predators around.. Put a cell cam on it.
  7. Full at the most. Im loading up some TSS #4 for the 12ga to bring for up close and personal. Plan to pattern with Modify and Imp cyl. chokes. Maybe a full but it wil probably be too tight, especially for the weight of the shot..
  8. If a deer has fed on corn all year/season it should not harm them a bit. It is only when its suddenly introduced during the harsh winter months. When they are only foraging on twigs and branches etc.. From what ive gathered.
  9. should see her on the real cold nights when her cape is all puffed up. She is huuge
  10. Shes a horse, I elected to pass her opening day as well as a few days later. Just in hopes to keep her fawns safe from the neighbors. Shes a hog. And a local doe that is most times like clock work. Just a couple of the pics I saved of her..
  11. Im in Arkport.. But I will be getting the seed makers removed on the 3rd. lol. Dont think ill be up for much other than laying around for a few days
  12. Wife got me a hat and a few t shirts. But most of all she gave me a little keep sake in memory of my father. Brought some tears no doubt.. Perfect Christmas, watching my daughters as she tore into gifts and receive most of what she wanted from Santa.
  13. The snow definitely helped with gun harvests. Though, the amount of snow also kept people from accessing their camps and just trying to walk around and such as often as they'd like. But i think bottom line there is, the snow def helped the last half of deer season.
  14. 3 young kids, one of them with a health issue, and another with some needs. Left very little time to hunt. No good opportunities at a shooter or a good doe. No big deal, there is always next year.
  15. Bought a Lucky Ducky Revolt a few months ago. Have yet to get out with it
  16. He does some really nice work no doubt!
  17. Wooly, They dont know what good looks like.. dont mind them! and dont get dry in the meantime..
  18. Depending on where he works, he may have them in bigger quantities. My place of employment buys a ton of them each year and quite a few get left on the shelf... and then somehow disappear lol if you know what I mean... See it everyday.
  19. Handi rifles are nice, so are the CVA scout if your looking for a lower cost single shot..
  20. Id defintely put boots on the ground and check it out. Hopefully theres some bedding in the back half of the property. check retrieval rights too as mentioned. Also, can you do anything to make this property better if need be? For food, natural browse, chain saw work to maybe make bedding or travel corridors etc.. Looks decent. Your in a high deer density area i believe
  21. My wife has been very hard to surprise or show for. We have 2 children who have health needs and acquire our attention all the time basically. Her hobbies as well as mine have been cut way way back. To the point she doesnt really even have a hobby anymore, and I hunt only a handful of times at most per year lately. Told her not to get me anything but she always does... So i figured Id buy her a spa day with 2 of her friends, pay for their dinner and either send them out to drink some wine or find a male strip club lol. Anything to take her mind off life and the kids for a few hours. She needs it. The kids and I also made her a couple "Mommy" keepsakes the kids can give her.. Also trying to buy her a newer bigger vehicle for xmas but thats not easy when she drives the vehicle that needs to be traded in and she hasnt test drove any new vehicles yet lol And time is running out
  22. I was thinking the same thing when i typed it.. I dont mind setting myself up lol
  23. I always try to shoot an old load out. As long as there is no concern for a possible double load. Never had one not fire before the couple times ive accidentally left it loaded after season
  24. Too busy around the holidays to make it out. Maybe next time
