  1. One of the best, if not THE best bow Mathews has ever made.. I own one myself and will never part with it.
  2. My dad had his MQ 32 for many many years as well. Nice simple light bows. He later upgraded to the outback. Just a couple years before he passed. Im one to not let things go very often either. Maybe just add to the arsenal occasionally. Had the FX back in the day myself.. wish i never got rid of it.
  3. How heavy did you seed it? Especially being a tad late, id put it down heavy, so it looks like a carpet. in case you only get a few inches of growth..
  4. Thats the theory, as Wooly stated.. But I've never noticed it. I have high numbers of coyotes as well as foxes and many other predators at my camp. That being said, If a fox crosses paths with a coyote, im most certain the coyote will attack or chase off until the fox gets away, or gets caught. I think coyote wander much more than a fox does, no doubt but im not sure on the theory. Ive always heard that, but I dont believe it to be true, atleast not in my area... maybe other locations where other predator/prey numbers are thin.. not sure.
  5. Real TC... I believe the 2018 pic is of a 3.5 yr old from my best guesses. And is the same buck as one or 2 of the 2017 pictures. I had a buck very similar to that.. rack wasnt much, you'd think a year or 2 behind what he should be.. but his body displayed him differently, big heavy body dominant boy.. I love older bucks that dont score well, in fact i like them more than bucks that do score well lol. Rob I would say your dealing with a 6.5yr old or older this year from the looks of those pics. Deer can have different body characteristics, and be of the same age. I have 2 bucks right now that are 9.5 yrs old.. both display a little different body types.. One is an absolute tank of a deer, heavy bodied old workhorse look, the other is of good size but doesnt really look like the tank the other one is.. Just a bigger deer with a big chest. hope you connect.
  6. I think next year im either bringing in bees to pollinate or im planting a ton of perennial flowering clovers and such to get the bees in and do their job. When i have good apple crop years the hunting and deer sightings is phenomenal. And my wife loves hunting those warmer evenings near dropping apples..
  7. I was the same way, My entire life, never won anything at all. if it wasnt for bad luck i would have none whats over.. But Since my dad passed away 2 years ago, just before the 1st banquest we attended that he was supposed to be at... We started winning things. That year we walked away with well over $3k in things. Thanks
  8. Thats what I wanna hear! Because when Mr big steps out.. I lose my shhh... cool! I think ill be using it for many critters, deer and coyote especially.. Its an awesome feeling gun!
  9. I had been trying to buy a base and rings for the 270 and the base seems almost impossible.. They made a different base for the A bolt 1, 2 and 3... lol why? Ill have to look again since ill be needing 2 now
  10. Im gonna say wolves. the adult looks too big to be a summer coyote.. Plus there shape.. I say wolves..
  11. When my box of Trip7 is gone, i may have to try this Blackhorn 209. I switched to triple 7 when i saw how easy it was to use and load. Not that loose powder was hard by any means. But I can hold 3" groups at 225yrds with the (3) pellets and a 250gr shockwave combo. I was plenty pleased. I only shoot a time or 2 at the most each gun season so cleanliness doesnt bother me too much.. I will give it a shot though, no doubt.
  12. My favorite thread is back again, Thanks Tom. I Look forward to your adventures this fall! Stay safe and have fun with them pups!
  13. Thanks everybody. I appreciate it. I cant wait to break it in.
  14. Do my kids count? lol Now that i have a place of our own.. I plan to get into wood working some. Just doing projects is fun.. Not the school type but around the house, or the land.
  15. I agree, Im surprised for being Wood stock, this gun is quite light and very comfortable to hold shouldered..
  16. My wife and I left Saturdays banquet with another new toy.. We got lucky again and won a Browning A-bolt III in 6.5cm. I have yet to shoot a Browning rifle, but man do they feel great when shouldered. We won the custom engraved A-Bolt III in 270, at the banquet 2 years ago and have yet to fire that one still. Both wood Walnut Stocks, It makes me want more wood stock guns.. The factory synthetic stocks feel like garbage compared to these stocks.. Sold my Savage Axis in 6.5cm since I dont need 2 of them. Ill take that money and pick up a nice set of optics for it..
  17. I love pulling a radish or turnip and taking a few bites out of them as i walk into sit an evening hunt
  18. Glad im not the only one, Not sure ive ever noticed this before.. Very little fruit on my property this year.
  19. I knew it would be an expensive hobby. And a hobby it is! I spend way more than I should thats a given. But I like seeing the fruits of my labor, i love being able to do these things to make my wifes and children's hunting even more enjoyable when they can only get out once or twice a year. I pass more deer per year because of these things, and i have no problem sitting back and watching them enjoy the things I have done to help, or the things that mother nature gives on her own.. And running trail cams(batteries, sd cards, etc..) adds more to the bill.. Its a PILE of fun, especially if you get family involved! That being said, I run on average 4-6 plots per year.. in a total of around 4.5 acres.. 3 of these plots are spring, summer, and fall planted.. I dont even want to add .. Id probably cry. lol. I will continue to do these things for as long as possible..
  20. Same here, I love getting pics on my Cuddeback captures. Both White Flash and still work. Makes me want more white flash cams!
  21. I love hunting with my ML then any gun i own. I think its more along the lines because I can only take 1 shot so I have to make the absolute best of the situation. Which IMO keeps me from taking iffy shots etc.. Theres usually no "backup shot" available or not as readily available like other guns.. I used to only take my ML during Gun season.. Then picked up a rifle a couple years ago.. Im going back to the ML this year. I miss it. I have a TC Omega and TC Triumph .. Both awesome reliable guns..
  22. In this mix there is: Oats, Spring Triticale, Berseem and Crimson Clover, Buckwheat and Spring Peas. The buckwheat got hammered. I also seeded AG soybeans in with the blend..
  23. Farthest for a deer is 43 yards. I try to keep shots well under 40 unless conditions are perfect... too much can happen on an alert, even a non alert animal. Ive shot coyotes with a bow out to 60 yards.
  24. Its the powdery mildew that did it. They got my neighbors pumpkin patch behind my house too. I believe he said he sprayed his with baking soda or something. Ive never witnessed it on my plots or had to react to it yet. It sounds like its to late for yours though? Sorry to hear that.
  25. Youll be fine as long as you get rain, and it stays warm for a few weeks.. I did them once about 5 days after their printed "planting dates" and i got about 6" of growth. It was perfect. It stayed warm, and had little rain that fall..
