  1. Im going to scare all the deer in the woods just to win this contest. Ill just have to make sure I'm doing this contest from my neighbors property lol
  2. Find someone who traps. Theyll take them. My buddy traps. Everyone he traps or that we call and kill he sells. Mount or save the nice ones
  3. I love seeing them damn things! lol. Last year I watched a mother and her pups light up the air in front of me at 75 yards.. That was awesome to watch.. as they did that.. had two other packs start howling and barking as well. both about 1/2 mile away in separate directions
  4. Agreed, a shovel is a must! Whether it was off roading or getting stuck in the snow off road/snow bank. I have been able to dig myself out almost every time. I carry the same things with me at all times, regardless of vehicle. Plus my carhart bibs and some other things just in case. Never know with my long commutes early in the mornings. Or trips to camp..
  5. Yep! I had an 02 cav with 2.2 ecotech 5spd, unibody gave out eventually, just sold my 2009 5 spd cobalt since i didnt want to invest the money in parts at 200kmi. I just picked up a very low mile 2010 model 5 spd. No anti lock brakes either. i thought it was odd too. But a reliable, easy to work on and low costing vehicle. perfect for racking miles up and no high payments..
  6. Electric winch, Crank off a boat trailer. or pull hoist will help wonders. Have used them all. We skin and de bone standing, than process at a table while sitting slugging down a few beers. Always a good night!
  7. I drive alot daily to and from work. 140miles. I drive a 2.2L chevy cobalt with 5spd. With a new set of all seasons you can do a lot in the snow. Snow tires, even studded snows you will do even better. I even take my car down the seasonal dead end road my camp is on. and it will go through just about anything. Until it starts pushing snow and clearance becomes an issue. But add a tad bit of weight to the truck, and good tires all the way around. The standard shift car isa plus! And is great in the snow, sometimes better than my 3/4 ton 4wd..
  8. I shoot the HHA optimizer lite ultra. Its pretty simple to setup. You shoot at 20 (document where on the setup tape the yardage mark is) then move out to 60 shoot (and document what number on the setup tape your at.) Subtract the 2 numbers and that will give you the number of which tape you need to use(the number on the very top of the tapes). If i remember correctly..
  9. Just got pics of 8 raccoons in a single file line going in to the corn field.. and a few hours later 8 raccoons single file leaving the corn field lol thought it was a beat down deer trail.. Guess its a raccoon trail lol
  10. We typically cut them up soon as we can get to them with no hang time, maybe a day or 2 at most. Only because we need the room. And deer are usually being processed on a daily basis. If i could find an extra fridge id love to let them hang for some time. Anything to try and get my wife to enjoy venison like she used to lol.
  11. I have several red dots on the majority of my turkey guns. 12 and 20ga. They are great, and none are expensive. Batteries last forever as long as its off when not needed to be on. Ido believe there is a vortex venom for sale on this page still. Mine are all Truglo red dots. Always worked fine for my needs. When I was younger i had one on my smooth barrel 12ga for deer season. It took several deer. But then hit the back seat when i purchased my first ML
  12. Is this currently dead vegetation? If it were a couple weeks ago id say do it now with no problems. I spread some clover seed in early October this year. Clover seed is a small hard seed but not sure how hardy it would be on damp fall ground, then covered in snow for months. If it stays frozen you should be fine. If it were me, id wait for March - April. I definitely wouldn't disk in the spring, you dont need to with clovers.. If you cant frost seed, once it turns green in spring, spread seed, then spray it off with gly and let mother nature do the work for you and you wont release weed seed in the process(key to successful clover plot). Can lawn roll it too to help it out..
  13. A good friend of mine has an outfitting gig in the Branchport - Italy area.. He has some real good bucks on cam no doubt. But he doesnt tell the customer what they can and cant shoot. Tells them to shoot whatever they have tags for and to do so legally. Not sure what his rates are but seems, he has happy people in camp. Had a couple NFL players in a few years back.
  14. Killed all my deer in my younger years with a smooth bore 1st gen mossberg 500 28" barrel with single bead. Thing shot winchester super x shells great. It fits perfectly too! It was my dads, now mine since he passed. A gun that will never leave this family..
  15. Daikon Radish. I use them in my bulb mixes every year. They will rot before your turnips will. Turnip is a bit more hardy. My deer have been eating them for a couple weeks now. But the bulb is perfect for cold weather foods
  16. WNYBH theres no big deer in avoca, or 8P for that matter...
  17. Spinners are winners! lol. Cool video! Its crazy how when most predators get shot they try to immediately attack/bite the spot they just got struck.
  18. I ran out of likes! Im not sure how i missed this thread for the last 8 months. But i Just found it and got caught up and am in amazement. You seem like a down right awesome guy sir! Thanks for sharing it with us all, As mentioned before, i find it very neat and interesting! Congrats on the big news as well! Hope it works out for you ever so perfectly! Sounds like it could be a fun trip! I will gladly be following this thread for future reference!
  19. Man I love catching up on a week or more worth of these stories! Great work Team! Makes me want to just call with every deer i shoot just to watch the pups work! lol
  20. I shot off a "Bench" with my Omega and Triumph with Triple 7 pellets and 250 gr shockwaves a couple years ago at a range of 225 yrds. I was happy with the roughly 3" group they both held. They are very accurate IMO.. And if anyone has ever noticed what they do to lungs when they rip through them.. know why they are called shockwaves lol. Impressive, just small hole in small hole out.
  21. Going with a 3.5yr old Fatty. As for weight, i have no clue lol. 180?
  22. congrats! sounded like a typical liver hit deer, you did the right thing by waiting!
