  1. But that was NYC correct? That's a different state even if it's not stated on any maps.
  2. About 5 years ago we got on the FIOS bandwagon, they lulled the same crap. After two weeks of we'll be there such and such, and we're sorry we'll be there tomorrow, I got out the old fashioned phone book and found a corporate number out of NYC. No out sourced calls to CS in bum crap nowhere, live CS that understood English ( sorry, not meant to be racial ). That was at 9AM and by 6PM that evening everything was running and we got two months free. Then they started with that crap of pulling channels, or moving them to the next higher package about a year and a half ago. That was the nail, we switched to TWC. Now where we are, no Verizon, and no TWC. The best one is Mid Hudson and they stink! We still pay $100 a month and that's just basic ( old school basic, only 20 non digital or HD ) channels, and internet. It's a joke, all of them.
  3. I said this in the other thread about the same incident, there really is no excuse for things like this. Walk around the land you plan to hunt before the season and see what might be around and where houses and roads are. At least drive around the area and locate things like that. I still say boots on the ground and get to know the land as mush as possible. Too many hunters just stop along the road or in a parking area and go for it.
  4. If you have to go mail order, get something that has a good range of adjustability. Other wise you can drop serious coin on buying mods to change draw length and worse, different limbs for weight. You will still have to get the right draw length. Maybe someone near you can help you figure that out. As for a soft backwall, I have heard that about some pretty pricey bows as well.
  5. Don't leave out Diamond. The Infinite Edge and Prism are solid bows around that price point. I bought the Prism this year and love the bow. It's accurate, pretty damn quiet, and pretty light even with a quiver and 4 arrows attached. Mine was $369 + shipping. It did not come with a quiver, only a rest, pin sight, and peep sight. I switched out the arrow rest that came with it for the WB I already had. The big thing I came across in that price range was the bows were good, but the arrow rest was crap. Get to a few shops and shoot a bit to get a feel for the bow. Also to get your draw length measured. Buying a bow can get pricy fast when you head out to buy arrows and heads/tips.
  6. I only made it about an hour before my feet were so cold they hurt, was only 3* when I left and 8 when I got back to the truck. Got to my truck and all it does is whirl, won't fire and start. $%^& me! Check the back and sure enough I had some gas treatment. Poured treatment in the tank, rocked the hell out of the truck, waited 5 minutes and it started. One of those times when the sigh of relief almost makes you want to dance around. Good luck to those staying out the whole day or going out for the afternoon. Again, congrats to everyone who filled tags.
  7. I have to add after this morning, boot blankets, hand muff, better cold weather mask then the neoprene one I have now, and making sure I have put gas treatment in my truck to make sure it starts when I get out of the wood on days this cold. Glad I keep some in the truck for emergencies, or it would have been an fn cold wait for a tow truck.
  8. One more day left to the deer season! My plan is to be out there in the morning. One last try for the season. After that, small game hunting, glassing for turkeys, knocking on some doors to hopefully get a field or two of private land to hunt said turkey on. Waiting patiently for 'the holidays' to be over. Getting things ready for the last minute New Years Eve party the g/f decided to have.
  9. I agree somewhat, but never just rely on the gizmo's. The only true way to know the area you hunt is getting your a$$ out there and walking it. Google image is usually dated, and you never know what was built in the year or more since the image was taken. Boots on the ground!
  10. I always have bino's. The compact Bushnells. There's no excuse to use your scope to glass, and there's no excuse to not know your surroundings!
  11. Another beef roast. Had some friends who were going to stop by, but they canceled due to weather. So, I have a lot of roast beef for sammiches! Made baked reds and steamed wax beans on the side.
  12. That's just sad. This is why during the gun season for deer I always set up where I am shooting down at my target. If I could hunt from a tree stand I would all the time. This is why boots on the ground scouting is so important! Not to just locate deer, but to know your surroundings and if any homes, buildings, or anything are in the area you might hit, and where they are.
  13. Congrats on a great late season bow buck!
  14. You sure it wasn't that spoof "They Still Call Me Bruce"?
  15. I would miss Christmas if the deer season was still going on! I am not a big fan of holidays that don't involve camping and cooking over a fire! Anyway.... If you actually want her out there with you, you have to find a medium ground to get her interest peaked out.
  16. Looks more like it was done in Microsoft Paint, then Photoshop.
  17. Take her! Make the time! I really liked having my g/f as a hunting buddy the few times she went out with me this deer season with the rifle. I miss the weather for early bow too! I got out once for the late season, fingers are still thawing out. I need to get better cold weather gear for next years late bow season.
  18. Looks a lot back. Agree that's a gut shot. Don't be to hard on him, most hunters make a bad shot now and then. Part of hunting. I would give a last ditch effort tomorrow.
  19. G/F has been baking cookies and making fudge all afternoon, so I am staying out of the kitchen. Just poured a cold beer and enjoying it. Nothing fancy tonight.
  20. Sincere condolences to you, your family and friends. The people we loose are never really gone, the spirit lives on, within all those he loved and those who loved him. He will be with you and your family every day, as he is in your hearts.
  21. I have been on the naughty list for a long--- long time. I have an issue with with fat guy who breaks into your house with the help of a cracked out red nosed reindeer. Shoot the deer and eat it, and have the fat guy arrested for a B&E. Not a big Christmas fan here. I go through the motions to make the g/f happy. As for what's real and what's not in the world of creatures or aliens, I do try to keep an open mind, but when they start making shows like "Mountain Men" , I think the world is getting media crazy! If you believe in Big Foot, or Sasquatch, get out there and look for yourself! Many hunters complain about the down time, so get out there and get some proof! It might cure the boredom.
  22. Just got home. Bow hunting in below freezing temps and on crunchy snow don't mix well. Tried to do some still hunting but was to loud walking with a bow. Few new tracks but nothing actually seen. Might try again tomorrow, but I think this morning was it. Good luck to all hunting the whole day. Sent from my XT830C using Tapatalk
  23. I keep trying to believe in Santa. Wish he was real! I would get the bow ready X-Mas eve and kill me a magical reindeer! Nothing in the books stating I can't shoot me a magical deer for being a nuisance and trespassing on my roof! I would hope for Rudolph! Have him mounted with an LED light in his nose. Now that would be awesome!
  24. Funny how all those old monster movies and things like big foot can manifest when you walking or sitting alone in the woods in the dark. They shot a movie called "Another Kind" in the Catskill Park back in 2013. Movie's not scary, or very good for that matter, but hey, you never know what lurks in the dark.
