Hope you heal up fast.

That's why I mentioned make how you approach the birds in reference to the area. The area I hunt is woods, with some big yards, but no fields. So, I have to figure out the food source and get between the roosting area and those.
-
I think the approach depends on the area you hunt. Always look for scat and roosting trees. Not all of hunt Spring ( or Fall ) turkey near fields or food plots we created. I hunt turkey in wooded areas and look for scat and roosts these days.

Slipknot song. Meaning you cannot kill the human spirit or soul. Tommy Boy

Good to hear they may be removing the doe only rules for some WMU's. What about the antler restrictions that popped up in some areas? I guess they will still stand?
-
LOL I made a lasagna with just ground beef, peppers and onions, and mozzarella. I made it a glass bread pan like I used to when I lived alone.

What do skinny jeans and hipsters have to do with what you have for dinner? Are you eating them? Leftovers tonight. Roasted pork and chicken parm with pasta.

Why do you want to know? I don't want to know! What you people do on your private cams is none of my business and I want to keep that way!

I forgot it started Sunday ( didn't set the DVR ), so I watched the new episode this morning. Not sure what to say. It was one of the most intense episodes. Getting tired of them killing off characters that they could develop more.

Yes she did. I have never seen the issue ( actually being serious ). I heard a rumor Playboy was going this route a while back. I didn't believe it. Surprised they did. There will be a lot of Photo Shop people looking for a new gig now. Why is it that everyone who reads playboy goes with the old excuse "I read it for the articles.". Maybe, MAYBE, 1 in 10 people did that. I mean 'cmon! That's like saying you like going to Pizza Hut for the ambiance. LMAO!

There you have it.

It was thick in some areas, but I am used to that. Most state/public land in this area have hiking/cross country ski trails. You just have to be aware of them and what direction you are shooting in. It's pretty small, and I am not sure I would have taken a shot with my rifle. Better bow land then any gun IMO. Unless small game shotgun. I think even a .22 shooting at a tree rat in a tree and missing could be bad. I haven't walked he whole area yet, but there were a few places I saw deer. Yes, I was in there a few times during the week. It was quiet, and I did see a few does. I was mainly just going in and sitting in spots I got the gut feeling. I have also been in there twice for squirrel. I wouldn't hunt here with a .22 and shooting into tree tops, it's more urban then suburban ( not literally, just a lot of homes scattered around ). I plan to get in there more this spring and summer and get to know it better. Maybe even fish the swamp that's in there. I spent most of my deer season in the NZ.

I made chicken parm with spaghetti isung the g/f's homemade sauce, didn't bother with a salad or veggies tonight. Then I whipped up a quick snack later. Hot salami with pepper jack cheese on trisquits ( again ). I left the jalapeños off the g/f's.

No pic. I got lazy today and just did roasted pork in the oven, baked potatoes, and microwave steamed corn. Just put things in the oven and let them cook. Easy.

Woke up about 4:30AM and couldn't get back to sleep. Got up and took the dog out. It was cold! Came back in the house and checked the phone and the TV for the temp. Phone said -36 with wind chill and TV said -41. After the better half got up and we had breakfast we had to do some shopping. That was at 10:30AM and phone said -27 with wind chill. Right now it's -13. It's been so cold this house is actually moving. Some doors won't close.

I didn't go. I avoid that area like it was a place they test nuclear bombs. Glad you had a good time grampy. Where did they host it if you don't mind me asking?
-
Surprised a few use the owl call either vocal or with a fabricated call. I was looking at some crow calls today. Going to add one to the pack for this spring. Can't hurt.

The g/f cooked up nice dinner tonight for Valentines Day. Bacon wrapped fillet mignon, garlic sautéed shrimp, and a ceasar salad.

Government "seizes" more land
DirtTime replied to Uptown Redneck's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Who do you mean by that statement bubba? You think that biker rally that's being planned and advertised two months in advance means you have balls? Sorry to break it to you, but, no it doesn't. Balls would be keeping it away from mass media and just doing it. Instead, if it's even real, you plan it months in advance to make sure authorities get wind of it and are there to protect you asses. As for the web, if you had balls you would use your real name and not have twenty accounts to prove the point you are trying to make. -
Actually, it's eat a beaver save a bush.......... Do you own the land Dom? If so then turkeyfeathers gave some good advice. If they are a nuisance you can apply for a permit to get rid of them. If you don't own the land, it's a whole new game. If it's public land, then theres nothing you can do.

Who's Taking a Youth Out for the Spring Youth Season?
DirtTime replied to letinmfly's topic in Turkey Hunting
C'mon up here Biz, I will take you Spring turkey hunting. Public land so it is what it is. I have no younger people in my family or the g/f's that are interested in hunting. If it's not Twitter or Face book they want no part of it. -
I heard the crow call works better, just never tried one. Crows are so populated in all areas I just never thought it would do any good. This is good if you are camping the land or live really close. If you have to drive 40 minutes to an hour, using it the night before isn't so easy. I asked because the area in the NZ I hunt has a resident owl. For the past two summers every night we have camped up there he/she comes and visits us ever night just before dark. I have also heard it while hunting deer up there in the early mornings and heard a few turkey reply. That doesn't mean that a fake call would get them startled though.
-
I like the fact that they are calling it what it really is, a gun. I get the appeal for some people. It's new it's exciting. Another hunting implement to put in the cabinet or safe. Quiet? Even in the vid Eddie posted it sounded pretty close to a .22. From this vid it doesn't seem to have any better penetration then an actual bow. Still not for me.

I am not sure what made me do it, but a few ago I picked up some Miller High Life. I used to have that and it was in my top 10 beers I wouldn't drink eve if it was free. Not sure if the recipe changed or my pallet has changed, but It was actually pretty good. Tried that alcoholic root beer, that was nasty.

Back in my early 20's I used to use and owl call as a locater. It worked pretty well. Once I was in the general area for the first sit I would do the old "Who cooks for you...Who cooks for you." while it was still dark. Does anyone still use one? What are your thoughts?
