Good deer Biz, congrats to your dad.

Heh. Sorry about that. Isn't Suffolk bow only until Jan. ? Not far from Westchester is it?
-
Sure I can! The North American Whitetail Deer can be found here in New York State: https://www.google.com/maps/place/New+York/@42.6657634,-80.2981789,6z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x4ccc4bf0f123a5a9:0xddcfc6c1de189567

Um, what state are you in, planet? NY does have an archery only season! For both NZ and SZ! Just looky at this: http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/28605.html The NZ EA Season was: 9/27-10/23 SZ EA was 10/1-11/20. Try again.

So, the "person" in question posted their own land and put up some surveyors tape on their own land? I really don't see the problem here.

First question is, aren't you the person who posted this: http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/30314-its-over/ So I guess now you decided to hunt the gun season with a bow? Or are you out there with a shotgun/rifle/ML? Not every hunter in NY ( or on the planet ) will hunt the same way you do things or how you think things should be done.

Good luck! I hope one of you gets a tag on him.

Shoulder / heart. Also, remember, a bullet from a rifle drops, then arch's to the high point and then drops again. A rifle bullet crosses the main line of sight twice. So make sure you know where the bullet is hitting at different yardage.

Caliber? Different rifles shoot different ammo, well, different. Most people on here seem to like the Federal ammo, I like the Hornady's as that's what my rifle seems to like. A consistent group inside a half dollar ( 1 1/4 inch? ) is sufficient.

What bullet are you using this season
DirtTime replied to ATbuckhunter's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
Seeing this question keeps popping up in different variations, I am using the bullet my rifle grouped the best. -
I would have never said this a year ago, but if they are both in the area go for the bigger buck and let the younger buck grow.

They did an update a few months ago and there was a thread on how a few of us lost saved data. They did another update yesterday and again I lost all the saved data. I deleted the stupid thing from my phone.

If you are worried about wind, add some extra heavy duty tie down cord and some heavy duty steaks. Use what's with the blind and then add a second set of tie downs. Never set up a pop up blind in the open. Try to set them up a few yards back in the woods or a brush line off a field. In the woods try to set up with some brush or trees around you. There are a lot of threads around this site on ground blinds, and they are pretty much the same. You can use a pop up on a daily basis as long as you know the land and set them up with some cover around them and some brushing in. It is best to have them in place a few weeks before you use them, but if you think about the area you should be able to use one as a mobile set up.

I prefer when Saturn's rings are aligned just right, gravitational pull is at the peak for this time of year, the moon is in crescent, Venus is having her time, it's 11:21:16 AM on the second Monday of the week, and it's snowing in Hawaii. If all this is in your favor you are guaranteed a monster buck.

I wouldn't buy one. I would look on Craigslist for a small atv. You can usually get a good price and if you stick to the known brands repairs will be cheaper. The only issue on CL is many people don't have papers. That's actually easy to get past. You get the SN and ID number and add them to a bill of sale and you can get a registration.

I thank you all for the replies. After seeing a few vids and reading some stories about "if" they slip, I think I will shy away. I don't want to be caught hanging from a tree by the harness and no ladder or sticks to get down.

To keep the little guy warmer in winter Biz. LOL

He's a big one. Cool pics. I agree, that will be pain getting out of the woods. But worth it.

It's always this time of year when things go wrong. Vehicles break down or need parts, something around the house breaks.

I don't think it bothers them anymore then a car or truck does. I have been riding and had deer just stand there looking at me within 20 yards, tail down and chewing on food. Same way many of us have been driving down a road, stopped and were able to get a pic of the deer just staring back at us.
