  1. Step By Step.....for me. Put on my gut gloves. Cut around butt. Make small cut forward of pelvis, just big enough to get two fingers in. Using the two fingers to guide tip of knife to bottom of ribcage. Pull out guts, cutting away connecting tissue, pull down bowel and bladder. Reach in, grab windpipe with left hand. Cut windpipe, pulling out lungs and heart. Put liver and heart in the gloves. Done in less than five minutes. Now the work begins, getting it out and hung up. Share the story of the hunt, with friends and family. And post to HuntingNY! Sleep like a baby.........
  2. Thank you for giving back! Really nice of you. No doubt someone will get much enjoyment out of those books. I did. They were a good series. I think it was around the early 90s?
  3. When in doubt take her to the vet. Especially if this is something you've never seen before. I know that with my past dogs, anxiety sometimes would bring on excess drooling? Like when going to the vet!!! Hopefully it's nothing??? But let us know how she makes out.
  4. Congratulations Tommy, to you and your beautiful wife Nicole! Olivia is just perfect. You are going to he a great dad my friend. Enjoy every precious minute. It all goes by so fast. Seems like you blink, and then your a grampy.
  5. That looks really sweet! Would work perfect for a couple places we have. Wish we had those available here!
  6. So, once you insert the primer, it can not be removed? Assuming you did not fire the gun, and want to transport it home, it will still be considered loaded with a primer in there, right? Or do you just remove the Firestick and leave the sabot in the rifle? Then you just carry around a wad of powder with a primer stuck to it? I guess no different than a pocket full of cartridges? IDK??? I'm all for innovation, and cool new stuff. But this seems like a LOT more cost, and doesn't really save much time, than reloading with speedloaders. Or give a distinct accuracy advantage, over loading my inline ML the way I've always done it?
  7. When I need to deal with sewer pipes or drains, I look like a doctor going in to do surgery. Yup, gloves, mask, over clothes that will get tossed! Liquid Plumber once a month, keeps me out of the ER for the most part. Mrs. grampy always says "you have no problem dealing with deer guts, so why are you gagging, cleaning a silly drain?"
  8. Nice looking mount and very nice turkey Larry! Would look great at our sportsman's club, where we do the hunter ed classes!
  9. There ya go Biz! You having a SB party and inviting us all?
  10. Nice! No doubt it will be the demise of many deer! What are you going with for a sight?
  11. Cool! Sending good mojo to you, Mrs Biz and Baby Biz!!!! I got a stogie to fire up in celebration with ya, when the good news comes in! Oh.....and the Chiefs too.
  12. What???? I came here looking for Biz in a Chiefs jersey! Nutton..... You a daddy yet? Chiefs and FortyNiners to the Super Bowl. Want to see two of the best young QBs go at it.
  13. I still have one of these. I bought it in the 80s. Has been a great knife.
  14. No, you don't suck Chef. Just being out there, and having one come to the calls is a successful hunt in my book! Will make it all that much sweeter too, when ya finally do cap one.
  15. Congratulations! Love seeing late season deer on the ground!
  16. I've lost all kinds of stuff in the woods while hunting. My firearm was never one of the things lost though. Even for a few minutes. Just lucky I guess? The story of this old Winchester Model 1873, has been around for awhile now. I've got a vivid imagination, so I've dreamed up all kinds of scenarios that could have put that rifle there. But it was probably something as simple as someone setting it down while taking a wizz, checking a shoe on their horse. Then mounting up, riding away to only realize it was missing later. And not being able to find the exact spot again.
  17. We have a forty or so acre swamp surrounded by hemlocks. Water depth varies between a few inches to a few feet. There are high spots were the deer do bed. But getting to them will either get you wet, or blow the deer out ahead of you. We've tried for almost 50 years, and have gotten a couple nice bucks out of the middle of the swamp. But found that multiple stands and blinds, on the edge of the hemlocks, and swamp works better. Most mature bucks will work the thick edge, coming and going to feed and bed. And also for scent checking the doe during rut. Having multiple set ups is the key, for using wind direction in your favor. And quietly getting in to position, through the hemlocks is a much better option than sloshing through the water. Shots are close, usually fifty yards or less. As the edge is very thick and overgrown. Much more open inside the swamp, as well as in the hemlocks. But by no means is either side considered open. The thick nasty stuff is the key here, for holding deer when they are pressured.
  18. Nice looking knife, I may have to look in to getting one for myself!
  19. Yeah, no big deal to just pull the charging handle a few times to unload. And load with a speed loader from the top. I'm not taking it into battle. Just some fun range shooting, a predator hunt now and then, and another home defence gun for another part of of the home. From the few AR's I have handled in gun shops, the pistol grip always seems to be the most comfortable to me. That means a fixed mag in NYS. I can live with that, given the other options of being NYS compliant. Still sorting out the options, and advice given here, and haven't 'pulled the trigger' yet.
  20. KTP is my favorite place to shop. We usually go up in May.Thanks for the tip Larry, I'm sure I'll find something.
  21. Looks fantastic! Great job for a great cause. Any Bills fan would be very happy to have that set!
  22. For almost $60 per three heads, I think I'll pass. My Muzzy's and Thunderheads work just fine at less than half the price. Interesting design though.
  23. Unless you are "SUPER" good at hunting coyotes. You will never kill too many.
