Your Dad has a lifetime love and passion for hunting whitetails! And it shows! Some great bucks there! Biz,the greatest trophy you will ever take from the deer woods. Is the time you have spent with your father, making life long memories. You are a lucky man.

I did mean after kpkot, sorry, should have been more clear.

I'd love to read the Gene Wensel book!

Thanks! I'll have to put that on my wish list to Santa! For some good fireside reading after the season!

Death In The Long Grass by Peter Capstick or any of his other books. Dead On by John Jeanneney. This book WILL help any hunter become a better blood tracker! With so much information that could make the difference between recovering your deer or not! Without the use of a dog. I highly recommend this book to any deer hunter, not just bow hunters. John is a founding member of Deer Search. He has been tracking deer since the late 70s, and has seen more tracking in a month than most hunters will see in a lifetime.

Yes they can! See my previous post. Easy find for an experienced dog.

The dogs can find the scent under the snow with no problem! Scent from a gut shot is very strong! Like I said earlier in this thread. An experienced dog will find that deer with little problem!!! If I were closer I'd help you recover that deer! He's out there dead and not far away!
-
Yup! wooly and sis. He made the paper and didn't have to wear the orange jump suit! Cool! And as always it's a top notch pic!

Off hand I don't know anyone from the western chapter. But let me look into it for you. I know this is a busy time for them. Also look into unitedbloodtrackers.org. New members are always welcome!

If he was gut shot and not pushed. I'm almost sure, he is dead, right now, within a few hundred yards of where he was hit.
-
Dogs can track a gut shot deer just fine, even with some snow over the line. They will follow the scent and not so much the blood. It will be an easy recovery for an experienced dog. Hope you find him!

I think I'm doing it all wrong!!

Let me know if you need an older, stinky, grey haired, pot bellied, half deaf, gimmpy, balding guy to keep an eye on things in that area, for you. I might know somone. Best of luck to you ! That is an awesome buck!

Bad news for sure. But your health is the most important thing. Heal up and feel better soon. Best of luck to you.

What broadheads are you using with your crossbow?
grampy replied to RangerClay's topic in CrossBow Hunting
NAP Slingblades. 100 gr. 1 and 7/8 inch cut. They fly true and hit where the field points hit. Can't wait to see how they work on deer! -
