  1. What????? You are ok ????? Was just gonna see if I could get nurse Charlie to give you mouth to mouth, or a sponge bath or 'something'!
  2. Got quite a bit of wind and rain here in the capital region. My tomato plants all blew over, even though they were staked and tied. Big branch came down next to my bass boat, but thankfully missed it by - that much..... Will pull the cover off after work to be sure. On a good note, all the rain helped the corn, peas, beans and other plots we have planted at the farm.
  3. Vermont is such a great place to visit. We go a few times a year. The Stowe area is very nice, even outside of ski season. Did you get to the Vermont Country Store over in Weston? Great pic's of the family, and mountain views!
  4. I have a Summit Viper, but haven't used it in years, and should probably just sell it. It is very comfortable and easy to use. But kinda heavy, and like others have said, you need a straight tree. For the last ten years or so, 95% of my hunting is done from the ground. Using whatever is lying on the ground to make a blind, or using natural cover. And even hub blinds. Can do this in hardwoods, swamps, oak ridges, field edges, or just about anywhere. To me it is all about hunting eye to eye with the deer, and nothing is more exciting as seeing one come in to you. Also, no stand to carry in. And you can be very mobile, very quickly if needed. Best of luck with whatever set up you choose.
  5. That looks really good! For 15 years, that post was waiting for that buck to come along!!
  6. Wow!!! Is this a public park with no hunting?
  7. If I do shoot a doe, it will be late season.
  8. Very nice!! I do love a well constructed ground blind!! My favorite way to hunt!
  9. Not so Biz. The Yankees still have one of the best minor league systems in baseball. They will be good for years to come. While Boston gutted their farm system, to buy enough strong arms and bats to win a ring. It worked too! But now they have to pay the piper in mediocrity for a few years while they rebuild.
  10. Absolutely right John. Beantown baseball is a total bust for the next few years. They sold the farm to get that last ring.
  11. Happy to hear Ana is doing ok. And we have missed you here big guy!
  12. I was originally looking at the Spypoint cams too. But all the bad reviews turned me off. Phade says the Tactacam Reveal, is newer and better technology. He is our resident cam expert, so I'll take his advice.
  13. Great Pic's Larry! Got to be something in that WNY water?? A few good reasons to be excited about the upcoming season! Good luck!

    Outed

I don't get why you were willing to delete your account. And also lock yourself out, and then you want to come back? But welcome back anyways. I kinda accepted you being a lefty, because you are a musician too. And you never bothered ME, by standing up for what YOU believe. Hope you have a better go this time around.
  15. Wow!!! Awesome job Brian!! Looks fantastic! Is this where your your 'work' room was down there? So perhaps the next time I'm in town, we could watch hunting DVDs and munch Nachos and Wings??
  16. I have two of the Tactacam Revel cams from Phade. But life is getting in the way of me setting them up. I'm hoping to get that done, and get them out in the woods this weekend. Will let you know what I think after that.

    Rutcation

I've seen first hand how rut activity can be in your area. Particularly the seeking/chasing in late October. Smoking HOT !!
  18. Hold my beer Cleetus.....watch this.
  19. I pray. That in this time of sorrow, you all rejoice in a beautiful life, lived with joy and laughter. And that your mom will soon be bathed in His light. To forever dwell in the House of our Lord. Amen My thoughts and prayers are with you all Burt.
  20. Surely this is where I'd end up, should I try such a thing.

    Rutcation

Over many decades of hunting, I've found Nov 10th to be the "magic day". With the five days before and after, to be the best time in the deer woods. Those 11 days are when you are likely to see bucks standing out in the open. Or cruising with their noses to the ground. Or crossing a road without looking. And running after any doe they see, throwing caution to the wind. Regardless of what moon it is, or any other environmental factors, that is the same time, year after year, that the above observations are seen. And of course, at any time from mid October, to the middle of December, all it takes is a hot doe to cause a local flurry of rut activity. So spend as much time in the deer woods as you can. Plan accordingly.
  22. Definitely after the first hard frost, the turnips become "sweeter" to the deer. And they will hit them harder. After the first good snow, or if snow gets deep, set up close, as they will be all over that plot. Nice work!
  23. Cool pictures Larry! Is there a nearby woodlot, or are they hiking a good ways? Did he do a fly down cackle as he left his "roost"???
  24. Great pic's! Great bucks! Great plots! You got it going........GREAT.........out there! I too am a 4-H hunter. And enjoy seeing what others are seeing. Along with talking to other hunters. We'll have to have another coffee meet up to compare notes!
