  1. Now would that be considered baiting being that it was in your truck and not on the ground? haha Be careful you don't hurt that Ford with all that weight in the back!
  2. I have the T3 hunter (blued with wood stock) and it will do a number on a deer. The doe I shot 2 weeks ago just piled and took a softball sized chunk out of her neck on the exit. It will almost clover leaf at 100 yards, they are great guns.
  3. The bigger the more meat so for me yes. I would rather take 1 big doe than need to take 2 small doe.
  4. I have the Lansky diamond stones and love the thing. It puts a razor like edge on my knives and touch ups are easy. I thought my knives were sharp until I got this thing, I can use my field dressing knife to shave if I wanted. How long the knife holds an edge depends on the knife and the hardness of the blade. Get a quality knife and you shouldn't need to sharpen it every time just touch up with the fine stone and you're done. This is the one I have. The diamond stones are nice because there is no need for oil. https://www.amazon.com/Lansky-LKDMD-4-Stone-Precision-Sharpening/dp/B000B8L6LS/ref=sr_1_2?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1482153533&sr=1-2&keywords=Lansky
  5. Getting out of the stand this year I lowered my wife's rifle to the ground made sure it was tied but wasn't pay close enough attention a branch below grabbed the loop somehow and untied it about 2' from the ground. Gun hit the ground then fell over onto the rocks in the hedgerow. It wasn't very high up bit still had me cussing all the way down the tree. It was raining pretty good that day so I was back at my dad's wiping it down and noticed the one scope mount bolt was loose. Not sure if it was the fall or not but the head of the bolt snapped clean off. Happy I noticed it before I went back out for the afternoon hunt. I was also happy I made the last minute decision to bring my .270 with me that gun saved me a wasted weekend.
  6. Yeah sounds like belt broke. Before the ATV stopped moving did it want to move after it was put in gear? My F.I.L. had a worn belt and it wanted to move when in gear with no throttle replaced it and no issues. The old belt was toast with fibers sticking out and flat spots. His was also that engine-braking model.
  7. This 100%, you are going to want to sit on those hedgerows now.
  8. In my area I wouldn't be surprised to see this, also the reason I CC even if "I'm just running in" or "just grabbing something quick".
  9. For those that hunt state property can you go in a few days before throw up a hang on then just bring sticks with you when you come back? I assume you would lock it but I know a guy that was fined for leaving a stand in a tree or maybe it was for the screw in steps I don't remember. What is it about leaving a stand in the woods a couple days that is so bad in DEC's eyes long as you aren't injuring the tree what difference does it make?
  10. Good deal, I have to scratch the itch this weekend. I have held out all season for that one buck but need some meat. I'll be putting a doe down if the opportunity arises. Hopefully I can have a two for one deal but we will see.
  11. What I find interesting is that you mention those photos and remember exactly what they corresponded to. I think that if the point is driven home in a way like that people will better remember these courses then there will be less accidents. I think a lot of people just brush off what the instructors tell them because there is nothing to make you think "Wow I guess that is really important". I remember more about my hunter safety course than my archery course. The archery course was pretty much a joke sat there listened to a guy talk for 2 days take the test then get my certificate.
  12. o gotcha, when my buddies and I boat a fish and keep it we generally "boxed another one" or "1 more in the box." Sorry fishing lingo had me confused. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  13. Something that would be helpful is the length too. If you have the registration normally the last 2 numbers of the vin are the year or right after the letters in the beginning of the vin. Also the model numbers will tell you the length, so if it's a 160 or something usually that means 16'. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  14. I think most chose not to get paid similar to the boating course instructors. I know the boating courses charge up to $60/person granted some venues are expensive but I looked up the cost of the venue when my wife was required to take it to drive a jet ski and it was $30/day and with 34 applicants I think he made out pretty good at $60 an applicant. I have thought about teaching the courses myself for a little extra money during the summer when there are only a handful offered in the whole state. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  15. You are correct also outside of any season you can not run dogs for training purposes on any state property.
  16. Wait so you're saying companies are planning to come back to the US for manufacturing? It can't be true the liberal news say Trump is a bad person and has doomed this country!
  17. 2nd and 3rd weekend in Nov. for me in my area, but yeah usually always that time.
  18. I agree around this price if everything is in pristine condition then I would go for $2000 MAYBE $2500 if it is truly pristine.
  19. I haven't been to a lot but the outdoor show in PA is awesome and huge. Lots of vendors and probably close to the biggest in the NE. Here is a link: https://www.greatamericanoutdoorshow.org/
  20. So you illegally keep fish that don't make the limit if you want to eat them?
