I just read an update that the victim pulled through surgery and is expected to recover. Still in guarded condition though.

For the few times I've gone out at night with kill lights, I've always been concerned with properly identifying the target. I'd hate to kill a neighbor's dog that got loose instead of a yote. You can't just shoot at eyes, that's ridiculous. Always positively ID the target. Prayers for the victim!

Book Stores Against Trump
Steuben Jerry replied to Uptown Redneck's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Guys, don't let Upchuck Ringworm troll you. I've tried to engage him in conversation on the topic he posts on, but he doesn't really engage or answer questions, just stirs the pot. It's too bad though, they might have been enlightening convos. -
Walkie Talkies?
Steuben Jerry replied to Uncle Nicky's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I'm near Bath/Savona. Verizon works okay at the house, not so good to not at all out back. ATT doesn't work at all. We usually carry radios and phones. -
So sorry for your loss! I know all to well what it feels like. Hang in there!

What's the Scariest hunting situation you have had ?
Steuben Jerry replied to fasteddie's topic in General Hunting
Back in the early 90's, I was deer hunting in a new spot (at the time) near the end of "shotgun" season, and had only been on it a few times. I primarily still hunted back then. I was following some fresh tracks and got turned around. It started snowing pretty good and was getting dark fast so I wanted to get heading back in the right direction. Well I caught myself walking in a big circle twice. Now it was very dark, snowing harder, the wind was picking up, and I was nursing my Maglite (remember when those were the best?) as the batteries were getting dim. I've got to say I was getting nervous the second time I circled. Then BAM, I walked right into a branch and got stabbed in the eye with it. That hurts more than you'd think! I wound up finally making my way to a field and then saw headlights go by on the road in the distance which got me to recognizable features and I was only a half mile from my truck. So I didn't have lead sprayed at me or anything serious like that, but I was getting more than a little scared about not getting out that night. I was dressed for still hunting not staying the night. An ER stop on the way home, and the eye was good in a week or two. -
Well that'll be a neat trick! The photo is from Canadice Lake, a lake in which I can't seem to buy a trout. Hopefully the Fluke will change my luck!

I bought this for my canoe last year. Kind of handy and doesn't need to be hooked up to a heavy boat battery onboard. Runs on AA's. And yup, no fish there.

First nice survivor showed up
Steuben Jerry replied to Steuben Jerry's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Oh, I'm not banking on it. He's just the first survivor that I've seen and/or recognize. Kind of like running into an old friend! -
Hey Uptown, A good debate goes both ways. Folks are answering your questions, it's generally considered polite to answer other's questions. See, then it goes back and forth potentially providing an enlightening discussion. How about answering these?

I happen to like the aesthetics of certain rifles. They've been banned for looks. Why?

It doesn't need to happen immediately. Cuomo is on record saying "confiscation is an option". You can't easily confiscate what isn't registered. Why can't I buy ammo on line and get a fair price for a decent selection? I didn't break any laws, why did I get this taken away?

Registration leads to confiscation.

Old single wide for free
Steuben Jerry replied to First-light's topic in Land For Sale, Lease, and Requests
Hey First-Light, careful with that if it's not up to HUD code. I almost took one that wasn't up to code, and after talking to my town decided against it. My town doesn't have zoning laws but they're bound by Federal regulations. People have started lawsuits against sellers of such mobile homes. Even if the seller wins, they still have to pay to defend themselves against a costly suit. That's a big reason a lot of folks scrap them. -
Unfortunately I don't believe Cuomo would ever sign that bill.

First nice survivor showed up
Steuben Jerry replied to Steuben Jerry's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
I'd like to think so! But I'm running 7 cameras and leave them out all year. I had this deer in front of me during last bow season, but this is the first time I've had him on camera since then. I'm pretty sure this is him from last Fall. -

I guess this transaction "went bad" so to speak. I just was looking at my Paypal account and see that the invoice expired, and I was never charged. I like using the site and would like to contribute. Haven't gotten a response to messages about it either. For you folks that have contributed to the site, were you able to complete the transaction? -

That's a good looking repair!
