  1. We definitely have noticed that throughout this winter. They look as healthy as I've ever seen them for early Spring!
  2. Here's a pic from Tuesday at about 6:30 pm. I think there's about 36 in this pic which was zoomed a bit. There were 57 all total in the whole field. In 1.5 miles on my odometer, we counted a little more than 100.
  3. Wow, those things are $750 now? I bought mine a long time ago for a whole lot less. I don't even use it any more since I've got the tractor and bigger disc set to go with it. Maybe I'll clean it up and sell mine.
  4. I bought a "green one" new in 2011. 38 hp yanmar, hydrostatic, loader. I had a horrible first year with major issues. PTO locked up/smashed up whatever the proper term was due to a manufacturing issue, and one day, just driving along 1/2 mile back from the road, the casting for my hydro filter just fell off due to porosity. Yup, left me stranded. For the first year it was back in their shop more than I had it. As a matter of fact, it sat there split in two for 8 weeks for the manufacturer to evaluate whether it was covered by warranty or not. By the way, it had 38 hours of use at that point. Deere made it right after all, and it's been flawless since. If I bought another, it would likely be a Kubota though.
  5. 1978 I think? I remember that exact same scenario. It really was a good day. We went fishing at Russel Station.
  6. 18 inches forecast for tomorrow, 24' in the hilltops (me). I really don't want this. I've been ready for Spring, and want to get going on all of the things I want to get done property-wise. This stuff will hang around well into April if we get what they're forecasting. Ugh.
  7. My daughter whether she's out hunting with me or not. She's been "outscoring" me the past few years so I have to let her know everything so she doesn't think I'm slacking!
  8. 20 mins to the one in Corning. A little quicker that the one 5 miles away when I lived in Rochester traffic.
  9. After taking anything legal in my early days, I personally pass on younger bucks now, and am trying to set the bar a bit higher each year. However, that's me and I'm not pushing my current style on anyone else. I feel it should be left to the choice of each hunter and social pressure and education should be the tools to promote that, not legislation. NYS is one of the most regulated, over legislated states in the nation. I personally do not want any more restrictive legislation passed by this nanny state. I registered NAY, and included my opinion for whatever shred of good that might do.
  10. This from the one who wanted Trump to "accept the results of the election". Guess what, Shrillary, he did. Maybe you should too. Now go fade away.
  11. Never came across one in the woods. I did see this guy on the way to work last June. Newfield, NY area. He was about the size of a second year cub, and he was probably just on his own for the beginning of his adult life. I felt pretty sad for him for a while after that.
  12. Another sure sign of spring, one of the cats from down the road woke me up at 3:45 this morning with that god-awful, horny wailing just outside our bedroom window. He must've been packing, because my cat ran in the house when I opened the door. Next will be the annual raccoon raids on our chicken coop.
  13. Welcome to the forum John. There's a bunch of good, knowledgeable folks and good info to be had here.
  14. Update on the guy who was shot. Poor guy's life is forever changed. http://13wham.com/news/local/man-shot-by-coyote-hunter-had-kidney-spleen-removed
  15. I guess this was a no-go, Paypal shows as pending for the last couple of weeks. Burmjohn, if you see this, pm me? I'd like to contribute something if it helps the site out a little.
