When you're going through hell, keep going - Churchill.

I've watched it for the sheer hilarity of it. Hard to believe they haven't shot one of their crew the way they wave those guns around when they hear a noise!

Flowers sent to work for my wife, and flowers sent to the homes of our daughters (always a hit). Out to dinner on Saturday. It was nice to have it on a weekend.

In Horseheads? Just did a movie at the mall and dinner at the Lobster there last weekend. Also on gift cards from Christmas.

2nd grey of the season, crazy night
Steuben Jerry replied to Chris B's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
What a great night, and great report! -
I've got some fields to sit over that I can see up to 400 yds (in one particular spot), so I'm sighted in about 1 inch high at 100. I took one deer at 165 (ranged it after the shot) with a Knight Original Disc. 2 pellets and a 220 gr Barnes Red Hot. Dropped him where he stood. That was the only long shot. I've taken probably 12-15 with a muzzleloader, and all of the rest were well inside 75 yds. My shortest is the most memorable though. About 8 feet, was walking straight toward me feeding. Was oblivious to me and I fired when he picked his head up after noticing me. Pretty cool to see him almost at my feet when the cloud cleared. The field dressing job was not fun however...

57 and have been hunting for about 35 years. Got a later start than most as I wasn't from a "hunting family". Was into fishing and the outdoors since I was a youngster and I credit outdoor loving friends for getting me into it in my early 20's.

Great information here from everyone. I've been thinking about getting into this for a while now, and may jump in this year. I'll be consulting this thread - thanks all!

I had it when I first moved to Steuben County as at the time, it was the only game in town in 2007. I HATED it. Unreasonable daily data limits, and slooow. A hair better than dial up. Verizon has added a new towers since then so I switched to wireless. It's better, but expensive and I don't get anywhere near the speed they advertise. Plus data limits means streaming video is a no-go unless I want $350+ monthly bills. Time Warner is two miles away from me, so not an affordable option (quoted 50k+ for the line extension). However if I had an option to pay $1500 for a Roadrunner connection, I'd jump on it in a second. I had Roadrunner for years when I lived in Rochester. Satellite and wireless internet is a distant, distant second compared to the speed and reliability of cable.

Just a quick search turned up this news story about the situation. Not an "official" notice, but the best I could find super-quickly - at work after all. http://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/news/local/2014/01/06/sheriffs-cuomo-say-7-bullet-limit-not-enforceable/4345739/

So sorry to hear about your friend's relative. Hearing about those things certainly helps me keep perspective on life.

I registered to vote when I was younger, and voted only one time until I was in my late 20's/early 30's. Then some laws were passed (might have been Clinton's AWB, but not sure) that ticked me off enough to start pulling levers (everybody remember those?). That and rapidly escalating property taxes! Although I vote local, state, and federal, is seems like the presidential vote is the most important, yet the least impacted by my vote. NYS will never give electoral votes to a republican. But at least I live in a deeply red county.
-
Got mine a couple of weeks ago, first one for me as my town has gone past the cap until now. If I subtract it from my property taxes paid, it's still an outrageous tax bill. Hey Biz, not being a wiseguy at all by my question, but just curious, why don't you vote? I admit it seems like my vote means nothing, but I feel it's the least I can do. Heck, for the first time in my life I even donated to a campaign in 2014 (Astorino in the last Governor's race). He needed downstate votes to win, but came up short there after carrying most of upstate.

I use fusions in my Savage .243 and Remington .270. Most consistently accurate stuff I've tried on those two guns although admittedly I haven't tried everything. I picked up a 7mm-08 a couple of months ago but haven't found any fusions for that on the shelf yet, but I'm hoping for the same results.

Well thanks everyone! Only plans for the evening is a grilled medium rare venny steak and a glass or two of wine with my sweetie. My wife may join us also - JUST KIDDING! And then probably out like a light at 9:00 seeing that it's work in the morning. Heck, it's getting to be 9:00 on a non-worknight too. Dang I'm old!

My smoker was brand new and I used it twice for fish, but cleaned it thoroughly each time. Smells a bit smoky but no fish smell to speak of. I really don't want to clean it so thoroughly so time will tell as I use it more.

Wow, he's a brute!

I received the Masterbuilt electric 30 for Christmas. I've used it twice (smoked fish) and love it! As said earlier in this thread, set it, and forget it. It's very easy to use.

OK so instead of "anti-conservationist", I'll say "not a real conservationist". So does using one or breaking a law make you that? Why is it a bad idea for conservationists?
