  1. I've been liking my rimfires a lot more over the last few years. Inexpensive to shoot, accurate and good for certain hunting situations. I got bit my the .17 wsm bug too, and held out for one of the later serial numbered "post-problem" rifles after they were introduced. Fun for the grandkids to shoot with me without recoil scaring them off. I've got it covered with a couple of 22's, a 17 HMR, and a 17 WSM. Currently looking for a .22 mag to replace the one stolen from my truck many years ago.
  2. Nice work! And you're just getting started with this? Looks like you found your calling!
  3. Only my second year of this hobby (6-8 buckets behind the house), and I have heard/read that it's the freezing temps overnight and above freezing temps during the day that gives the best sap flows due to changing pressures in the tree. Well it hasn't been below freezing at my place at least 6 days, and my buckets runneth over. I'm overflowing in 12 hours where last week I was only getting a half bucket in 24 hrs. So I'd like to ask the more experienced guys; Is this normal? The sap stays good if I keep it cool, correct? My trees haven't started to show buds yet, but that may be a day or two away - that's the first signal of the end, right? Thanks in advance!
  4. Wow, that is stunning! Beautiful work!
  5. Stocking shelves at Star Market in Rochester (Remember that store chain?) After school for $2.10/hr 15-20 hours a week. I had all kinds of big plans for my measly $25/week.
  6. Excellent photo as always Wooly!
  7. She did get a list of tickets/charges, but the WHAM article I read said the felony charge was for forging the plates. It just seems extreme to me. Can't vote, can't own a gun, probably won't be able to get any good job if she's a convicted felon. She's an idiot, but I don't think her life should be forever altered for a cardboard plate. X2 on the idiocy though, it's freaking winter. Did she think that was going to hold up for more than a day or two? Looks like she was actually smart enough to not go through the car wash though...
  8. I read that she got charged with a felony for that. I agree she's not smart, but if convicted, she'll have a felony record for life for this. That seems too extreme for a cardboard license plate.
  9. I dangle them on a string over the bullseye at 100yds and put as many rounds through it as I can. Might as well have fun doing it!
  10. I happened to be passing through Ilion, NY yesterday and stopped at the Remington museum/company store. They had about 15 no-name, unbranded, 3-9x (32 mm objective) scopes from China for sale with rings for $20. I had to pick one up for that price. Unused, but no box or paperwork with them. The girl at the counter didn't know anything about them, but said she did know that there wasn't anything wrong with them, they were most likely clearing obsolete inventory. I probably wouldn't put it on anything bigger than a .22 or .17. I didn't need it, but for $20, I figured why not?
  11. I wonder how long that took, and how many worked on it. If one person, that's real dedication to stay with that. Lots of lifting, placing, and checking/adjusting. I would have lost interest long before that got completed.
  12. Welcome aboard Peter, there's a lot of great info for you here!
  13. Welcome aboard, I think you'll love this site. No problem from being from PA, I like to visit free America often!
  14. I did it for the first time last year, and am starting to tap this weekend. Doewhacker, what's your heat source for the pan? I used a large pot on a propane burner last year and the propane cost was a bit much. I was thinking of using wood this year, but I like the control and consistent heat of the propane.
  15. Thumbs up on the Claussen's Dills!
  16. I took it, will you be posting the results at some point?
