Some of that must be bear claws.

Most rubs I see are on saplings. Nothing big like that.

I'm redoing 4 bathrooms in my house. Buying faucets from Lowes. Kohler & Delta from Lowes SUCK. I already returned 3 of them. The water pressure for the Kohler product is heavily restricted. Poor design. Delta has these 2 cent clips that break off. I can't compare them to a supply house, because I haven't used a supply house yet, but yes, faucets from Lowes SUCK.

I bet if you gut shoot with that magnum, the deer will still run away.

NY village agrees to hire federal sharpshooters to cull deer

Fire Island residents are just as stupid. They want the deer sterilized, and they think this will reduce the population. I keep telling them if they sterilize 10,000 deer, you still have 10,000 deer !!! and 10 million ticks. -
Powderhorn hunting preserve / Pere David's deer.

I'd have no hesitation doing that if I wanted venison. How many acres are the hunting grounds ? -
My theory is use an insurance shot. The 1st deer I ever shot, the deer went down with the 1 shot, I continued shooting until the mag was empty. My partner comes over and was like, WTF, I thought you were shooting a bear. When we gutted the deer, I only hit with the 1st round. Every follow up shot missed !!!

Last year, on the final hour of rifle season, it was actually dusk, 12 deer were feeding in an open field on my drive home.

Maybe if the deer was drinking a gallon of it. But a few sniffs..... doubtful.

Can you hang the collar on your wall ? -
Urine based scents cause CWD ???????????? You'll need to explain that one.

There's a new tick disease. I forget the name, but it's supposed to be nastier than Lyme.

The anecdotal reports like ours are usually accurate.. We have nothing to gain or loose by making up BS.

I see deer yarded up off exit 119. You can't hunt there, they are too close to the highway.

I used to think snow killed off the ticks. Then I found out snow insulates the ticks, and keeps them alive. All I know is there were no ticks when I grew up. Now they are all over the NE, and beyond.

Interesting: all of the reading material says ticks only last a few days without a host or moisture. But I've always suspected they are hardy little buggers. It's amazing they can follow heat. I've read they also follow CO2, even climbing up an open window emitting a persons CO2 exhales. 3 months is a serious long time. My son left his backpack in my shed. I went in the shed 1 week later, and picked up a tick. So I know they are hardy. Where did this tick get moisture from in a wood shed ????

Mule deer have different personalities than whitetails. Mule deer when spooked will run 50 yards, then turn around and just look at you forever. They access the danger level. Whitetails.. they run to the next county. Maybe ones that have gotten accustom to people & civilization will change their behavior. But their natural behavior is to run miles.

So what is the best course of action for my hunting clothes?? Should I just let them hang in the garage? Or put them in a plastic bag ?? I'm done hunting, and there must be a few ticks still crawling on my clothes.

40 is not bad. I got 25 lbs from my last medium size doe.

We all know if you spook a deer, especially a white tail; they run to the next county. What I want to know.. do they return to their home base?? or do they set up a new bedding area ??

I only sprayed my boots and lower pants. Then I'm realizing as I'm walking though waste high thickets, and leaning up against trees and vegetation, I made a serious mistake. Time for Lyme test anyway.... Even though I didn't find any ticks...

I'm done, and happy it's over. As far back as I remember, it has never been so warm for the entire season. I didn't even need my heavy weight boots, or gear. I removed the inner liner from my parka. Yesterday as lunch time, I was drenched in sweat. Had to strip down one layer and dry out. I only saw deer on opening day. After that, I saw nothing. And no snow at all. I don't even remember the ground being frozen over once....

My friend has deer showing up on trail cams at 2am. No day time movement at all.

I lost many deer because I didn't want to take the shot without my ear protection on. It's my personal choice, I need to save what's left of my hearing. I don't go to loud restaurants anymore, because I can't have a conversation. Also, I lost deer because I smacked the plastic gun stock against the ear protection, and the deer heard it, and took off. Happened twice so far. So there is a risk of wearing ear protection too.

I hunt in a state park, and they give out nuisance permits like candy. Guys come in, and blast little tiny does. I saw one guy shoot 3 does in a group. He had nuisance permits for all 3. This is NYS, where the DEC says they want to increase the population of deer, but yet they give out DMAPs.
