  2. TF I'll be over later to share in your Christmas Cheer! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Welcome and Merry Christmas to you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Praying for your friend. Sounds like a guy I'd like to hang with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. My best memory is the time I took my 6 year old daughter bow hunting. We where hunting with a friend who through text messages let us know a buck was working his way towards us. Her excitement over the chance at seeing a deer was enough to make it a successful hunt for me. Unfortunately the buck must have turned away from us as we never saw it. She is now 0-4 on seeing deer with me but she isn't discouraged from hunting yet.
  6. I wasn't to sure how to answer this question because I don't think taking deer is everything but Culvercreek sums it up pretty good. I don't consider myself a great hunter. I don't play the wind, I don't go crazy over sent control, I don't use calls unless its to get a deer to stop for a shot. What I do successfully is I have a good stand location and I am good shot with deer in front of me.
  7. However you want to say it be it Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays does it really matter? All that matters is people being respectful towards other people. So Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to my fellow hunters and outdoors enthusiasts! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Dang guys way to get it done just as the fat lady was about to sing! I'm very tempted to get a muzzle stuffer and hunt late season next year. I may just have to force myself to work some OT or some side jobs to pull that off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Congrats New York Hillbilly!!!!!!!!
  10. I can hear the fat lady warming up now. It's getting close guys and gals good luck out there!
  11. Great pictures! Whats your camera setup? I have a nice Cannon DSLR that beyond the basic settings have no idea how to properly use.
  12. Data caps!? dang that would suck. My internet is through time warner and they don't have data caps. I did have to upgrade to a higher speed internet to stream everything which cost me an extra $20 a month for internet but considering I was dropping $120+ a month for DirecTV I was ok with that.
  13. This time of year after deer season is my time to be home sleep in and be with the family. I golf most weekend mornings from late April until October 1st when I switch over to hunting. I have a lot of things that I want to do around the house but none of them are anything that are time sensitive so if i get them done great and if not oh well i'll get to it eventually.
  14. I got sick of paying a total of $170 a month for cable and internet so I ditched cable bought a amazon fire stick with netflix and Hulu. I still watch everything I watched before ditching cable but for $100 less a month. You mostly have to wait to watch a show the day after it airs but considering we never watched live tv anyways its no big deal. The only thing I miss from cable is I cant watch the Sabres games.
  15. I lost 2 arrows while practicing in the yard. First shot went low and left the second shot went high. I knew exactly where both arrows should have been but I could not find them after searching for almost 30 min. I packed everything up after that and calling it a day after only shooting a total of 3 arrows. I did not lose anything while hunting except some for some sleep and one hornaday sst.
  16. I give you guys that have been out the last 2 days a lot of credit. Even if I wasn't at work I don't think I would go out in this cold. Hopefully your persistence/stubbornness/stupidity pays off!
  17. Thank you for posting your stories on here and thank you for the service you provide hunters. Without your help 12 deer and 1 bear would have been lost and never recovered. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
  18. I personally hate the thought of having a new job every 3-5 years. While I may not absolutely love coming into work every day I am here on time for at least my 40 hours a week and I will do whatever is required to finish jobs and get them out the door even if they are not my jobs. In return I have a lot of leeway on things like right now being on the internet responding to a hunting forum post lol.
  19. I've been where I am at for just over 11 years now. I have a decent wage but know if I go somewhere else I will get more. Right now the pro's outweigh the con's of trying to go somewhere else and besides I am getting tired of my field of work in general so going somewhere else wont help me at all.
  20. Way to much food that's what we will be having from Christmas Eve dinner all the way through dessert on Christmas day! Christmas Eve dinner starts it all off with everyone making an appetizer style dish to eat as we talk, drink and open up gifts. No formal sitting down for this meal. Every year the food changes but the staples are shrimp cocktail, cheese and crackers and Chili. Christmas Morning is a full blown breakfast with eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles, hashbrowns, toast, pancakes and all the coffee and juice you can drink. Christmas dinner is a more traditional with Ham, green beans, mashed potatoes and a whole bunch of other fixings. For dessert there will be about 6 different cakes and pies to choose from. I really love this time of year. Has to be my favorite holiday and it has nothing to do with getting gifts.
  21. It's sad business's no longer have any loyalty to their employees which is starting to trickle down to the employees no longer having any loyalty to their employers. I'm 35 and I know a lot of people my age and younger that move from job to job every 3-5 years as that seems to be the only way the can improve their pay and position. A couple of years ago my mom was laid off on the 23rd of December, talk about a holiday killer!
  22. My condolences to you and your family. Nothing can prepare you for the sudden loss of a love one those always hurt the most. May your memories of your father and the way he went out on his terms help carry you through this hard time.
  23. Best - Venison tenderloin but I would love to do a side by side comparison of Elk and Venison because the Elk I've had was also very good. Worst - Mallard duck. It was so greasy and nasty tasting I have yet to try it again and that was a decade or so ago. I practically quit duck hunting over it.
  24. Cool pics! I've thought of doing this before but never did. Now next year i might have to.
  25. Congrats to everyone that put deer down today! My morning was unsuccessful with another 4 hours in the woods with out seeing a deer. Just got home from a holiday party and it's time to get some sleep. Only a few more hours before it's my last hunt of the year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
