  1. So I had Aaron (AKA Liquidonyx), over to pattern his scatter gun. The Longbeard 6's won over the 5's. We drove past one of the fields we can hunt, and there were two longbeard's by themselves heading to the woods. We headed to a spot where there's usually birds roosted. Had a doe within 20 yrds, but heard or seen nothing in that area. I talked to the landowner afterwards, and he said there's always birds up in those fields strutting. He even mention they have been seeing a while deer up there frequently. Aaron can't hunt tomorrow, but we'll be out there Saturday. This is his 30 yrd target. 40 was decent, but definitely his max distance.
  2. I had some swivel deeks. Damm thing was spinning back and forth fast in high winds I thought it was going to take flight. Couple sticks fixed that. As far as what direction to face them, it's a personal preference. Don't matter. They can see pretty much behind themselves. That said, tom will mount hen from behind, so that might give you a extra second to get the bead on him.
  3. I'm heading out regardless of weather. If very windy, I'll hunt a pinch point field edge.
  4. That was fantastic. Congrats to Evan, and good job dad.
  5. I miss my cavaliers. Here's a pic from 2013 I believe.
  6. Good Lord, it's a sea of leeks.
  7. Ya, I'll be out. No blind, so rain gear will have to do.
  8. Thank you for reminding me to get the thermacell out.
  9. Lol, lot of distillery switched to making hand sanitizer during C-19.
  10. It's the rabbit from Monty Python.
  11. I believe you need to upload the video to a host sight like YouTube. Then post the link.
  12. Ya, don't see that every day. Hope Tommy makes it. Few years back two buddies of mine called in a tom, within 5 seconds of the shot a fox tried grabbing the tom. At first they were so so shocked they kinda froze. Lol. Fox are very blood this time of year. They have young to feed, and one way or another, they will try.
  13. Thought and prayers for your mom. Fortunately my MIL didn't get C-19. She developed blood clots from lack of moving around as she wouldn't leave her house.
  14. Thanks again everyone. Mom is being released from the hospital today. Docs are very pleased with her recovery. Hopefully she'll continue to recover and be back to normal soon.
  15. I only killed one deer with them. I went with the super razorheads after hitting a deer in the shoulder with an original and the head bent over 90° . Went to a compound shortly after and switched to razorback 5's. I'm sure the reason that head bent was most likely it was stressed from missing or passing through the target. Neighbor who I was hunting with couldn't believe it. I got a education on tracking deer that's for sure. Obviously we never found her, and we were confident she survived.
  16. I make a small cut near the breast bone, and peal the skin and feathers down the sides of the breast and past where I can see the thigh joint. I remove the legs, and peal the remaining skin off the legs. I then remove the breast meat. I usually don't mess with the wings. Do it right, and you don't get into the guts at all. But NyTracker is correct, they stink.
  17. I thought so. I used the originals my dad gave me when I first started in archery. Didn't think they had the slot, but wasn't sure. Graduated to the ones with the bleeders and threads, aluminum shafts. Then the ones pictured above. Mom used to make me go into my room to sharpen them. Said the sound distracted her while watching TV, lol.
  18. I agree. Lots of people have it off, that's for sure. I'll get my camo washed and sprayed down with Sawyers tomorrow. Already got my calls ready. Need to get a scratch pad for the slate. Can't find the one I had last yr.
  19. I used those too. As well as the original razorheads. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the first bear razorheads didn't have a slot for the bleeders, those were added later????????
  20. And shame on me for not taking a pic of tonight's fire. Was a early night. Kinda wiped out with MIL in hospital, but doing great. Typing this as I'm fighting my eyelids.
  21. Ain't it just sooo relaxing...
