Fletch is correct. No smell after it dries. However, even if it did have a slight smell, I'd rather be tick free than picking the little devil's off me.
-
That's the stuff I've been using for yrs. Works great.
-
Believe me, I can't wait to get out of NY. 8 more yrs till my wife retires. But unless we move somewhere cold, were still going to be battling ticks.

Haven't been hunting yet. Been too busy. Was at a client's property today, and after getting the lawn done, decided to check a couple stands. Was in the woods for about 15 min. When I got back to the truck, I look at my pants legs.. I couldn't believe the ticks. In 10 min afterwards, I pulled 36.... Yes I said 36, ticks off me. Couldn't wait to get home and change/shower. I always spray my hunting clothes, but I was working and didn't have any spray with me.

That's how I hunt em too. Hate to remember how many times I picked the wrong stand only to hear them on the next trail 100 yrs away.

Still hunting in the swamps I hunt is about impossible. The grasses are 10' tall and thick. I can here the deer sloshing through the place, but can't see em. When a buck is chasing a doe around in there, the noise is incredible. Love hate relationship with that swamp. Killed many nice bucks hunting it, but what a nightmare getting them out of there.
-
That depends. I hunt a swamp that there's no trees large enough along the edge for a stand as it's a old field that's grown up, but 80 yrds in the swamp I've got a stand. I've got to Wade through knee deep water to get to it, so it's a PITA. Same swamp about 100yrds further there's plenty of tree along the edge, so I don't go in. Know way to see or hunt both areas even with the rifle as it's so thick but only 100 yrd apart.

Good luck. Hopefully your plan works and the next pic will be you holding onto his rack with a ear to ear grin...

I agree 100%. That's why I said keep hunting with the wind, meaning don't hunt a stand if the winds wrong. That and keep changing stands as not to burn out one spot. Killed many nice bucks early in the season when deer we're supposedly not moving.
-
Wait till the rut gets closer. He'll change is patterns. I'd still hurt the wind, and keep changing stands. You never know when he might show. Can't kill em from the living room.

Yep, still mowin. Got several to do today. One is 7 acres of mowing alone. Leaves are changing and falling fast around here, especially the maples. We've had so much rain throughout the summer, they have a fungus that has caused them to change and drop early. Oaks are still green though.

I'd be hunting a beaver.

Think its a great idea too.

I kinda thought the same thing, but when he opened the back to a newer jeep Grand Cherokee, I knew he could afford it. SteveB...As far as using my outside voice. This guy was alot bigger than me, many tattoos, piercings. and I could Invision a confrontation outside as he most likely would have been embarrassed and pissed. Had no clue he was parked close to me, so glad I didn't say anything. Karma will get him.

Was in Wal-Mart yesterday, hate the place, but sometimes you've gotta go there. Anyway, I was in line behind a guy with a infant in a car seat in the basket with a 5# bag of potatoes underneath the car seat. Also had some water and diapers under the cart on tbe bottom rack. I noticed him look at the items several times, and glance at me each time to see if I noticed. Now this guy was much younger and bigger then me, and I wanted no part of any confrontation that may have occurred after. I did allert the cashier as he left, and you could plainly see he was mad. The "checker/greeter" at the entrance never even looked, and the cashier got a little more irrateted. Happened to be parked 3 spots from him, as he loaded up his stolen goods. Now I understand Wal-Mart has more money than me, and the prices include some loss, but i still hate thieves....

Looking for advice. Mid size v full size truck??
mowin replied to regulat0r's topic in General Chit Chat
Sounds like you answered your own question. If your running out of room, or close to it frequently, you could definitely use a bigger rig. But, be aware, the more room you have, the more toys.. er.. equipment your going to buy to fill it... Lol -
Thanks guys. I thought they were legal.

I looked on DEC website, but couldn't find anything. Are lighted site pins legal?

I've used rage the first yr they came out, and still do. Shot a couple dozen deer with them and two bear. I'm only pulling 50#, and Most shots were pass through. Did loose two deer over the yrs, but those were my fault. First hit the shoulder joint dead center. Had same results with a muzzy yrs ago. That joint is tuff. Second loss was a deflected shot that hit center of the gut. Lots of rain that night, and never found that deer. Great BH. And tuff as nails..

That's great. Jeff's a good egg. Eager to learn and enjoy mother nature. Good luck to both of you...

Never a bother. Had a great time in the woods with you turkey hunting. Wish I had my own spot. You'd be more than welcome.

I remember it well. Our area was hit hard 24+" of snow. Trees down all over the place. Gave a trooper a ride up route 20 on my 4wheeler because he couldn't get his cruiser to a serious accident. Our power was out for 9 days, but my brothers was out for 13.
-
Love my ladder stands. I try place them so I can shoot while seated, but as we all know, deer don't read the script, lol. Shot many deer while standing and seated. I do look for taller stands. I've got a couple that are 18' to the platform.
-
Jeff. I wish my hunting areas were as open to bring in other bow hunters as it is turkey hunters. Good luck finding someplace to hunt. If something changes in my area I'll definitely give you a call.

I think some of those old does are smarter and harder to fool/hunt than some older bucks. Good luck grow.. knock down a big flat top tomorrow if one gives you the opportunity.
