Had a daisy first at like 8 and then a crossman. My Dad got me one at camp and said dont tell your mother. Had it for like 3 years and then one Xmas she told my Dad she was getting me a BB gun. Dad told me and said he told her I already got him one for Xmas so tell her about it after Xmas. He even wrapped it as his house to be a smart ass. Lol Spent hours in the woods chasing red squirrel. No actually that was this guy below. For about 10 days he was everywhere on our property and saw him a couple of times but never in bow range. The big six seems to hang on the other side of property and last year we didn't hunt it that much cause it was so flooded. I would certainly be happy with either or something far smaller. "take a friggin compass". - Dad. I always pack one. My Dad always had everyone take one always. My brother got lost in McKeever one time and didn't have a compass. 10 seconds after Dad found him he had one. Lol Even a couple of years ago after tracking a buddies deer in the dark and we did circles for a minute. Pulled out the compass and I was on the trail in 10 minutes. Got CSS and Littlefield areas all set this morn. Went early and done by 8:30. Just mow and throw plots. Cut it a week ago and then today cut it to the ground with the push weed eater. Hoping they take and for some more rain. Next weekend will finish the last one we want to do and til that one. Used to have a camp up on Chase lake and I try to do a still gun hunt up there every year. I've fished otter creek a lot! And the independence river. Lots of miles on those. But the deer density up there is def few and far between. There are a few bear around. I usually hunt the Independence river forest area. Lots of trails to take and back roads everywhere. Used to be more wild but now they have the otter creek horse trails there so a lot more people around. If you go up the eatonville Rd, confusion flats Rd, there is a bunch of state land up there. Got out at first light and did two little plots. These are just mow and throw. I mowed them down as low as I could a week ago. Then cut them today with my wheeled weed eater right to the ground. Awesome let's get em filled! I got 2 as well. They always have leftovers Nov 1 and I only really need to fill one but got two. I should prob make my second pic for one of these guys that have a hard time getting certain areas. I really don't need two. Esp when also have the bow tag and can get more free Nov 1. I've heard that pistol applications might be put on hold across the state for 6 months cause no one knows what to do with these new laws or if the process in place now will be legal as of Sept 1. I have a couple of hanging flower baskets that are my "Canary in the mine". If they start drooping and need water I also water the garden. Her husband had an epic garden. In the mid afternoon he would be sitting outside with a straw hat eating bread, cheese, salami, olives etc. After working on the garden. It was just like you would picture in Italy. He would call my GF "wife" and always ask how she was as best he could with English. He and his wife got to arguing sometimes in Italian of course and he would just shake his head. She made Italian cookies that would make you cry. No recipe. I really don't have recipes for much of anything. Always cooked that way. Lol. But after college I lived in an apartment over an older Italian lady that barely spoke English and she also cooked at a local restaurant. She would yell upstairs..."boy, hey boy...you mangia? ". And she would often have the most unbelievable dishes. And zucchini stew was one of them . She was awesome. I just chunked up zucchini, onions, cherry tomatoes, a regular tomato, a pepper. Added in seasoned salt, garlic and oregano, olive oil, a sprinkle of sugar. Let it all stew together without the zucchini getting too soft. Then grilled sausage so it browns nice in the pan added a splash of red wine to deglaze and added it to the pot and sliced up the sausage to add. Was supposed to rain today. Not a damn drop. So I went out and took all the grass clippings from cutting and covered up my food plot. Supposed to be real hot tomorrow and no rain til Thursday.
