went home for lunch and there were two trucks in front of me and one behind me with trailers and wheelers. Ice guys are hitting it hard today .

and then looks like 40's by sunday . And hot fudge sundae on me if someone pops that little rodent when he peaks his head out of the hole! We dont need 6 more weeks of it.

Power is back on. But I am thinking that is a much better plan.

My chances of getting out today are getting less and less. Snowing so hard here can hardly see across the road. I am missing walleye fishing on the boat on a nice day already.

Was gonna go walk and see if I run into a rabbit today. But power is out here so am running propane heaters til it comes back on. Maybe this afternoon if it's back on.

this year when i shot a doe i was a mess but when a big buck came in i was calm. Made no sense but the longer i go in season the more composed i am , esp if i have already got one or have seen a lot of deer. But early season its the trembles for sure .

When we had trout up to camp (which was a lot) my Dad always had bread and butter with them just in case of a bone issue. lol Yeah i think the same, dunno if i could stomach a sucker but i have heard that people do those and carp .

think i might give em a try at least. My buddy really wants to try some smoked fish. We used to salmon fish a lot but wading those streams dont appeal much to me these days. But was thinking mid summer/ August the walleye fishing gets tough but could nab a couple large pickerel or northerns and give this a try . Smoked fish patties or maybe a dip - something new to try . Used to catch some monster northerns in the st. Lawrence and up the dacks. But wanna try it first on some smaller ones to see if i like it. Just never hear of anyone doing this. The worst that happens is we get fish jerky... - mmmm lol

ive tired some pickeled pickerel another friend of mine made and it was ok. The Y bones i would think could be picked out after. Was thinking of trying to smoke them then maybe make some fish patties/cakes too. We usually just pitch the northerns back and i just cant bring myself to smoke one of those beautiful walleye fillets that just taste so good from a deep fryer .....drool.....

anyone ever try making smoked Northern pike or Pickerel? A buddy of mine wants to try it this year.

The only way a crossbow bill will even be introduced is if it is hooked to other legislation. With the Dems holding all the juggling balls they don't need to have trade off legis to get what they want passed to have enough votes. So they don't have to give reps anything to get what they want. No quid pro quo is happening to get it thru. Only way I would think it had a chance is if they were throwing a bone but don't see that happening with all the legis that's gonna be passed. And let's face it half the Republicans won't even stand up against it all because they know they have no teeth. Gonna be a tough haul for a bit for upstate.

so they can ignore us like usual. No way this is passing anytime soon - plate is full of new legislation now that Dems have all offices. Too busy passing 2nd and 3rd trimester abortion bills, free college for illegal immigrants and legalizing marijuana etc etc etc - not a person there cares about this legislation. Esp with the safe act 2 also about to roll out. Only way this is passing is if they outlaw guns for hunting and give us the use of crossbows. Not happening this year.

Tube sand at Lowe's. I have two in my pickup all winter even though it's 4 wheel drive. Makes truck handle better. And a weird little thing u prob know. Weight is actually more effective behind the wheel wells instead of across them. Doesn't seem like it would be but it is.
