It was def the same deer. Blood trail went right too it and it was all fresh etc. Sure is hard to believe that they just decimated it like this. I was even looking for bear tracks but just yote tracks there.

Thinned out one with xbow this year.

It was right before dark though last Eve. So wouldn't have been able to get another shot at. Esp in that stuff it is so thick it is hard to even explain. Sure wish I had wemt after it but like you said I don't know if she was done or not.

Yeah that's for sure. We walked in this morn and on the way in saw yote tracks and had a bad feeling. My buddy saw a Fisher over there too on Friday in trail. But this was crazy. But there wasn't a thing left.

Well here was my answer this morning. This sucks... I had just some long all white hair, no blood and it was dark. There is no woods here it is just old swampland that has grown in. So I thought back out to be safe. The long white hair made me think a bad shot. Got there this morn and walked in found blood in daylight like 40 yards from there. Then a heavy blood trail and thought for sure I was walking up on a dead deer . Then found this mess. So disappointed for sure. I should've went in last night but all the clues said not to. The deer wasn't about 90 yards away. And I did have to crawl in 2 spots to go along the blood trail. To find this. The head was even no where to be found... I should've went after it last night for sure but all I know or been told was telling me to back out. If I had waited an hour I prob would've found it. Big blood trail once you got in there. So frustrating....

That's exactly what I thought. I do know the answer now. But was wondering what everyone else thought.....wait the night out and back out, or go in after it....what would u do??

Right before dark hear brush cracking. A doe pops her head out down the trail. Then steps out a little. It is a big girl for sure. About 60yards down the trail and a little brush in the way but not too bad. I pull up 12g and aim middle of deer and squeeze. Deer jumps a bit then leaps into the brush and 3 hops it's gone and I hear some more brush breaking. I wait about 10 minutes and walk over to where I shot and see this (pic). Some long all white hair. One other spot of it with a little less. Look where she went into brush and nothing no blood and it is getting dark. The brush at this place is so thick you can't see in 15 yards and I have been thru there before in places you have to crawl thru it. What's the call on what to do from here........

Nope. But def in my dreams now!

Saw a buck on the way in on trail. Big body but too far to shoot offhand at 150+ with the 12 g. And only had a couple seconds if I was to shoot. Just not the right shot opportunity. Sat in stand and saw nothing after that.

The sweet potato sounds interesting. I will have to try that

Last weekend of gun ....the plan is in place. Headed out to sit in a stand today on lease land, tomorrow a push with 3 other guys in the morn. Then sat afternoon sit in another spot i bowhunt only with the crossbow. Then Sunday am crossbow again and afternoon a last stand sit at the lease. Hoping I don't get thru the whole plan and have to open the butcher shop. Good luck to everyone.

Who takes head shots at a deer with a gun like that, or even hunts with a gun like that. That's not hunting ....its a person that likes to try to blow an animals head off. An ethical shot? Really.....was there not a rocket launcher available? He is just trying to show off to people and have some shock value. Anyone out there wanna hunt with that guy. ..... I won't be in line. I really don't care if he hit the deer or not. He seems like a jerk either way. That's not hunting it's killing.

One last prediction for Sunday. Eugene takes his giggly juice and washes down the last of the pills he made. It's the way he would go out.

Simple and so good. Venison backstrap steaks and eggs.

i am actually looking forward to muzzle this year. I didnt fill my bow buck tag for the first time in a while - was being too picky- and am hoping to see a buck in muzzle loader. Took a couple extra days off next week. Have never gotten a deer withi the muzzleloader , mostly because i am about done by then or dont have a buck tag. And my muzzleloader is so accurate but I just dont use it that much. Thought about taking it out for regular gun season a few times but hard to pass on having a second shot. And one of the spots i hunt they havent cut the soybeans yet and hoping they dont, those deer late season might be chomping on them even though they arent green anymore.

and they shot them too? Says in the info they were shot.

I just got stuff to make a potato and venison sausage chowder. I am off Th-Sun next week for muzzleloader and it looks to be cold so cant beat a good soup/stew. It also works good with keilbasa.

i wonder if the DEC wasnt too happy that this went to press. Kinda ruined any stakeouts they might be doing to catch them. If they were truly shot then this is a crazy person that likes to kill animals or just hates the deer at his house. Was thinking maybe some accidental poisoning of some sort someone was trying to cover up. But if shot then its gotta be someone that is just killing deer. Taking them somewhere sure doesnt seem to make any sense either.

said in the post though that they were shot. I used to work for the DOT and they frowned on us shooting. lol. Your right sure is a waste.

i do about this same exact thing. Comes out great and its easy. I usually add a diced onion and a can of mushrooms to boot. (and usually i also have some sort of bulk venison sausage and add a pound of that with 2 lbs of burger)

All I can say is I would never hold your hand during a thunderstorm. You can say your life is certainly interesting and hasn't been boring. Best of luck with dogs and all the rest.
