  1. Wife has a Prius awd hybrid, gets over 50 mpg. Daughter has Rav4 hybrid getting mid 30s, with a lead foot. Both happy. The prius awd has an extra rear motor for the awd that disengages at 30 mph. Does very well in snow. Bought both when gas was cheaper knowing that it would not last. Glad now, and probably at least the next 3+ years. Hard to beat a Toyota until others catch up with the tech. Son has a deposit since first orders on a Cybertruck. Will see if Musk ever produces it and stands by the price.
  2. Funny you mentioned honey bees. I keep a few hives next to my food plots. Always plant some sunflowers for them too. I quit using wheat for a nurse crop for clover, switched to rye or oats so I don't need to mow in the spring. Rye stays green longer and attracts deer first few snows. Also hold back some soybeans to plant with the brassica. We frost seed our established clover every spring to keep it going. Also fertilize. My theory is to keep the does fat and happy year round and on the property. They bring the bucks. Give them a smorgasbord and they choose what to eat. I haven't planted anything yet they don't eat. The corn is by far the best late season. Cover and food.
  3. Put buckwheat in spring before brassica. Crimp or spray. No till plant brassica. I plant 4 or 5 acres of food plots, rotating corn, brassicas, and soybeans. I'm going to try buckwheat rotation in the spring.
  4. I hunt late season food sources. I know the does will be there to feed. Boys will be there chasing girls like a teenager. Shot a nice 11 pt last year, had a big 8 with him in muzzleloader. Had not seen either one on cams. I have a few acres of standing corn food plot yearly.
  5. Haven't missed a gun opening day in 42 years, that said: A few years ago I had a cracked disc and a couple of herniated discs. Got some cortisone shots. Son had to get me to my elevated blind (wheelbarrow ride). Was able to spend all day as usual, with the help of pain killers. This spring I was diagnosed with some pretty bad stuff. Was scheduled for a serious surgery on November 7th. Was having a hard time drawing my bow even after turning down the poundage. I got out with the crossbow a little. Surgery got postponed on the 6th. Spent 11 hours in the stand gun opening day, and a couple days since. Glad I feel good enough to. Only seen some smaller bucks, holding out for a bigger one as long as I can. For now, take it day by day. Glad to be able to get out. I feel for those who can't make it out. I know how I felt when I thought about missing out.
  6. Just had a Fischer walk into my corn plot. I wonder if they eat corn?
  7. Looks like a little later today is better. Wish I could be out, in hospital today for a procedure. Back out Thursday.
  8. Finally saw a buck in 8P. Sat all day yesterday and today. Give him a year to grow.
  9. Sorry you didn't get him Jason. Was probably a tough one to cape. Sometimes takes a few minutes... I was glad to see Anthony get Stickers. He deserved him after finding both sheds. We have been watching him for 5 years. Too bad the way he recovered him though.
  10. I knew she would be worse than heir CUOMO. Waiting to see the F Hochul stickers...
  11. Best thing I've found is muck woody max, little hotties felt sole liners, toasty toes chemical warmers under toes. If it's below zero I put a second set on n top of toes.
  12. Nice, congratulations.
  13. I remember my dad saying that he didn't know how he ever had time to work before he retired as he was so busy.

    YIKES

Where did all the people that were working, go? The federal unemployment bonuses are over, where's the worker's. Employee shortages in the supply chain causing higher prices? There should be 15,000 Hatains who just crossed over looking for work.
  15. Hopefully you didn't eat a banana today. They have the same smell to a bee as the "sting" pheromone.
  16. I have a couple M 11's. They kick like a SOB due to the retractable barrel. My son got his first turkey with one many years ago. 52 yards. Remington 4x6 duplex load. Good guns but not as valued as a Browning.
  17. I'm with others who recommend chamber sealers. Got this last year. Best thing since slit skirts. https://www.costco.com/maxvac-pro-chamber-vacuum-sealer-.product.100536866.html Works great on fish and wet foods. Bags are much cheaper.
  18. Both eyes. Helps to observe where it goes after the shot. I usually can see the shot hit the animal too.

    Color Light

No light but I carry a green one just in case. Sometimes I walk 25 30 yards from an edge and might need to let a neighbor know its a person walking. The neighbors are wild ones.
  20. Be hard to road hunt with that.
  21. Checked out their website. Have to go over the hill from camp when we are there. I'll use any excuse to drive over Mitchellsville rd. to Hammondsport. Enjoy that drive.
