  1. The snapshots in my mind, are the real classics. Ones I'll never forget!
  2. The one that walks in front of you. Venison tastes the same, small or big horns.
  3. New rubs and scrapes are showing up. Some old ones are still active, but quite a few abandoned. Buck activity has increased rapidly the last two days. By the signs, the next phase of the breeding season is coming. Had five bucks in, yesterday before sunset, scraping, rubbing. and tearing up bushes. Grunting coming from all sides. Colder weather will only make it better.
  4. New rubs and scrapes showing up. All bucks yesterday afternoon, but no shooters. Small eight in the radish this am, at 22 yards. Doe have been nocturnal for several days. Round three is near. Going to be a busy next few.
  5. Shot the Brenneke KO, 12 ga, 3 inch sabots for years, but had to make a switch to Lightfields, this year due to availability issues. Those Brenneke's would knock a deer right off its feet. Midway use to carry them. The Lightfields sighted in rather well.
  6. I always seem to harvest deer when no help is available. They always drop in the thickest of brush. Dang things are heavy. A two wheel cart sure comes in handy if one can wheel. One like WNY Buckhunter had for sale works nice.
  7. Did you drag that one out of the woods by yourself too?
  8. Keep us posted how it going in Indiana, if you would.
  9. When the calendar flips to October, the family knows where I'll be till Decembers end.
  10. The discharge of a weapon on a wounded animal to put it down, after sunset. That is a law I know most people will break. Call it what you will.
  11. You got a buck? I didn't see the post. I hunted cut corn yesterday afternoon. Eight deer came in well before sunset at the other end 250 or so yards out. My end, a buck fawn; then as if the pearly gates opened up, seven doe, fawn and the now famous 3x5 named Oaken came in 15 minutes after sunset. I sat there, not to disturb right into seven oclock. Last of the deer exited, got up and walking into the domain of radish, I greeted five more deer. They didn't like the interference, sending their yell bells into the night sky. My radish look as though WWIII was fought in them. They have done the job and if this mild trend holds, feed right in winter.
  12. Yeah, I took it the OP was talking deer, LOL.
  13. You better all look up the definition of hunting in New York State. Anyone that hasn't entered, exited the field by sunrise, sunset is all guilty of hunting before, after hours. Chew on that! Remember, I don't make the laws, the liberals do in this state.
  14. Enjoying the fun in Niagara this morning. The dishwater was flushed to the curb and a new dawn arises. Just got in from a full out, good old fashion, all around heart pumping doe to buck chase. I educated a few yearling bucks this morning. Oh, and the doe lost.
  15. Any firearms hunter can take a bow coarse, and join in on the fun. I welcome them afield to see and experience what I have witnessed through my bow hunting career. I had a 3x5 come in this morning, 7ish and stare up at me for minutes doing his thing. My blood got darker, this morning! Those kinds of experiences with live with me till I die.
  16. Bourbon Red turkeys. What you think?
  17. All week has been quiet here. The young'ins are only ones showing during hunting hours. Doe and bucks have all gone nocturnal. Another behind close doors breeding cycle this season. Maybe this cooler weather will ignite something. Due for one on the ground, past years showing.
  18. Nice to see you starting your kids off at an early age. Hope they join you on hunts in the future.
  19. Was out five until twenty after seven; believe deer moved early. Not even a fawn today. First bust morning. Been pretty slow here the last few. Hope they don't stay in nocturnal mode long.
  20. Laws are made to be broken. It's called revenue.
  21. Olive oil adds a nice flavor to any meat. Good for ya too!
  22. What, no deer hunting? Ah, the warm weather has you all on edge, LOL.
