Some pics from cabelas in PA yesterday
landtracdeerhunter replied to Geno C's topic in General Chit Chat
The place took my breath away when we visited in 2007. A 6 hour trip from our home, but well worth it. I bet I snapped 200 pics of the place. I remember my son spent $1500 there and packed our car. Dad drove home with a tree stand jamming in his neck LOL. I do it all over again, LOL. -
Looking like a good weekend ahead!

It's been heaven out there since the temps, cooled off this week. Tons of movement. It can only get better! -

The product has to meet your liking, then comes the dealership. Never could understand a dealership that try to sell a product, then turn a potiential new customer off. Your mahindra dealer has taken Sales 101, applied it, and sells product. Good for him! -
Same here, but I push myself out of bed and ate an apple. Yep, an apple a day does keep the doctor away. So does seeing a buck after 6 doe, LOL.

Anyone having any luck with fall turkey?
landtracdeerhunter replied to Uncle Nicky's topic in Turkey Hunting
Congrats to both of you! -
I'll second the motion on Alsike clover. Reds will do well in poorly drained clay loam soil provided enough light condtions exsist. The only gripe I have against Alsike is it becomes bitter and less palatable when mature. Also regrowth is very limited. We grown clovers on poor drained clay soil, flood plains for 50 years.

I agree, Kioti is a strong competor. They had the heaviest loader lift weight in their class back when I sold them. They would lift the rear of the tractor off the ground. No fear of relief valve blowing as others do. Beat the majors hand down in lift capicities You do know that 0% raises the price of the tractor, before dealer even recieve them. No different than any other these days.. -

Most of the Japan and Korean tractors today a mostly bulletproof, with maybe a few quirks thrown in now and again. -
Deer 1- landtracdeerhunter 0, LOL.

I believe most of the backhoes for these class C and D tractors are made in Korea. Ameroquip and Woods are building backhoes for a few majors as well as their own. Hydraulic issues are the most problem on backhoes. Most of the brands today hold their structure rather well. I have seen a few dipper sticks ripped off though. -
So my Summit broke.... wear a harness people
landtracdeerhunter replied to NYbuck50's topic in Bow Hunting
NYbuck50, glad to here that your ok. Balancing for an hour, didn't you start looseing circulation in the legs? Sitting in my Summit many times looking at that one cable, and how it fastens to the stand and viewing the structure, the thought has crossed my mind how close one should go to the weight limit of 300 lbs.. Once viewed a Summit promotiom video, and how testing is conducted, but they never said how much weight force has been is actually applied to the stand before it buckles. -
Sunny when I left the house. Little windy. Ground blind bound just in case those pesty lake effect showers pop up, which they did around 7ish. Some great movement with doe acting like fawns running around kicking up their heels. Couldn't quite get a shot off on a broadside 18 yd er, but sure was a nice encounter, none the less.

Out the door right now. One will hang nicely in these cooler low temps..

This deer seasons just way to short. I have to be out there, or I might miss something, LOL. Other states like Ohio residents are so lucky, Bow the end of September right through February.

Big buck....lucky brother in law
landtracdeerhunter replied to New York Hillbilly's topic in Bow Hunting
What a nice hunt for your brother in law, and the memories you share with him, LOL. Kinda reminds me of my son on his first hunt, shooting a 147. Congrats to him! -
Don't forget the new fallen leaves. Their hitting the ash leaves that are on the ground here. Something that draws them to certain leaf falls.

To each their own!

Horse urine works well too, and plenty of, LOL.

Had 5 fly up into the maple tree right next to the stand last night. This morning, they came into the hay field, stayed 20 minutes or so to say hello during a thundershower. Got some pics. And it's still raining, dang warm fronts, LOL. Our season opens third week of October, they will be gone by then. -
Stand was sticked framed about 14 years ago out of new PT lumber at this site. Due to stand loss and site location, decided to move to a new spot. Dropping the stand made tougher by an all day rain event. Lowered down with a rope. Getting it out of the woods proved challenging. Chuck wagon comes in usefull. Block and tackle it back up to it;s new home. It's all honkered in now for another exciting deer season, LOL.

Hickory Nuts
landtracdeerhunter replied to landtracdeerhunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Same here grow. The usual is right out the window. The mast crop here, is some of the best ever. Wild apples and pears all over. Very difficult to hunt any food source right now. -
Package delivered. Surprized she did'nt toss it from the truck. P.S. She could stand to loose a few!
