Non political corona virus thread
landtracdeerhunter replied to Al Bundy's topic in General Chit Chat
Here's hoping for a 100% recovery for your friend. This Virus is now causing many health conditions for several that had it. People, at the beginning of the outbreak we're almost like ashamed to talk about it. Now a few months later, we're finding out much more about our family and friends that had it or were exposed to it. 2020 has really been a shit year for our family and friends. -

Non political corona virus thread

A very difficult balance between keeping the United States economy and slowing the spread of this SARS, virius. Difficult times lie ahead for Politicians and Health Officials , as well sas the population. This Virus is real, spreading, and still very active in New York State. Be Proactive! Be Smart! Do The Research! Follow guidelines! -

Signs of the deer season coming
landtracdeerhunter replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Deer Hunting
In celebration of the up coming deer season, I have been elevating a few deer stands. A quite of few nice Ash trees we use to lean on have since died, so it makes stand placement more difficult. Year round stamds are being checked over well. Installing a roof canopy on one and a portable on another. Looking over the hunting clothing situration and shopping for a good pair of boots. Another great deer season is in the near future. Enjoying the prep. work can only make for another rewarding season. Good Luck, Enjoy, and as always, think safety! -

Grandson's going to be running Dryshod Arctic Storms this hunting season.. I've treaded on 4 pair of Muck boots for 6 years now. It's time to trade up to Dryshod. -
What do you really need?
landtracdeerhunter replied to G-Man's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Radish might be a plan, come late July. Works great with surround Hay, Corn, and Soybean fields. Proven time in and time out here, but then again all areas are not the same. -
My Clay Loam soils are doing just fine. The secret is to roll, after planting to keep any moisture that is in the soil. Plants will grow deeper roots, to reach that moisture, if a good loose seedbed is incorporated, then rolled. Green manure will also hold the moisture in soils, if plowed down and allowed to rot. I have also disc tall grasses flat and planted seed direct. The grass seedbed will hold moisture in the unworked soil allowing seed to germinate and grow plants. LET EM GROW give me that advise, some yeears ago; and it works.

New fall food plots
landtracdeerhunter replied to Nytracker's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Sounds great. i have always been a big fan of cereal grains and radish planting. A past member ( growalot) got me started on radish quite a few years ago here. Radish planted the end of July. Oats and Wheat in late August. I like to think of it as a payback to wildlife, for all the deer harvest we have made. -
I believe it can go the other way for poults; too dry. We have had heavy dew this year so far, so that helps. On a second note, I found a hatched nest of turkey eggs on a knoll while cutting hay. Nearest I can determine, all 7 eggs hatched. Now watching for them to surface.

Ducks carry in fish to ponds? How is this possible?

I hope the Doxycycline works better for you than the Amoxicillin.

Sorry Wooly. I had to do a ton of research on tick bites. Stage two really sucks. Eat a lot of Probiotic Foods two to three hours before or after Antibiotics.

Not far from me. Scary.

Unknowly set up by a fox den this morning. Little tough on the turkey sightings but, sure was fun watching the pups playing in the sunshine. -

Was early out in a severe thunderstorm years ago; turkeys gobbling their heads off. More lightning than darkness that early morning. When the hail came, the turkeys stopped gobbling. -

How To Finish Wood Scales on Knife
landtracdeerhunter replied to hunter's topic in DIY - Do It Yourself, tutorials and videos
The problem with untreated olive wood is it can get dirty very easily under use. I also have had some olive wood scales crack from manufactures that didn't stablized the scales correctly. I'd like to use more olive wood on some of my blanks, being so cheap, I use the hickories and oaks available.
