  1. I remember an old mushroom farm on Rt, 5 towards Batavia back in the early 70's. They were growing them inside an old barn on tables. We would stop and watch them cut them off to fill our order. Is this how your growing them?
  2. It's not like that, even in Texas, which has one of the more relaxed gun laws in the U.S.. Your life is over in New York, if you were to carry out that senario.
  3. Trump has made it very clear; each state will make it's own decisions. Can we help it that New York has a jackass for a leader.
  4. Once ventilators. PPE., leave upstate, you dam well know, their not ever coming back ! As the gov. stated in yesterday"s press conference, New York State has no money.
  5. My 30 year old cherry tomatoes are are just coming up in trays. Bell Pepper will be a while yet. I got some sandy soil worked on the knoll other day. The 75 degree weather today warmed the soil nicely. Just got the lettuce planted when a thunder storm with driving rain drove me out of the field. Buying out of the question, so now thinking of leasing, LOL.
  6. Would NYC. restrictions be placed on the rest of the state? Just could be a possibility with our governer. I liked to say a lot more, but now isn't the time. All must band together to fight this virus.
  7. Don't get any ideas: Food Network !
  8. With this disease Covid- 19; SARS-CoV2 virus strain so prevelant in New York, what is your opinion on the upcoming Turkey Season, both youth and regular season? Should the season go on, as it is an outdoor sport with a very limited number of people or should the State just flat out cancel it, as to not encourge people to venture away from their domains? ( This is on condition NYS. doesn't lock down entirely) I'm personally back and forth on this issue at this time. Their are as many pros as their are cons. I ask for a rational discussion, please.
  9. I was looking at the raised flue models that have one half, raised flue; the other half divided flat pan. 2 x 3 or 4. Manufactures really hyping these up. Not sure and more research, on my part is needed. If I was a better welder of stainless. I'd weld one up my self. I will build the firebox myself, to try to keep the price down. Keep my smaller unit for small runs. I so need to upgrade though; as maple is in my blood now.
  10. Ash makes some great project wood also. Wish I had some black ash on the farm to make bushel baskets.
  11. Taps coming out today. Time to build a higher boil rate evaporator.
  12. Boiling right now! Down to about 21 gallons of sap every couple days. Nice to have a dryer day for a change that speeds up my boiling rate. Haven't figure harvest totals yet but, it's going to be real good on 61 taps. Really good maple flavor, which I didn't expect. Saps still coming out clear here, from my deep woods trees.
  13. Have had a gobbler sounding off in the afternoon while I was out gathering maple sap for past two weeks now a ways off. This morning he was very close to me in the front field when he sounded off. Sent chills up my spine. I am also starting to see good hen movement.
  14. Beautiful Place. Enjoy the new addition !
  15. Nice for a change to see parties unity. Dam shame it took a dam little nasty killer virus to do it !
  16. New York State going on P.A.U.S.E. effective Sunday at 8 p.m..
  17. I see where NYS. Maple Weekend has been cancelled as a result of the many Caronaviruses spreading throughout the state. Always a great time to visit some of your area Sugar Houses. Sure will miss the maple donuts; one of my favorites. Bang up year here with 9 gallons of syrup off 396 gallon of sap. Expect the last run into next Wednesday.
  18. History in the making folks. Could be the new normal.
  19. For those of us lucky enough to have the space, and with warmer weather coming to support; a garden would be a great idea to plant this year. With little money, one can support life for quite a while off one. We always live off one right into winter very easily. Get your seeds and fertilizer now. I would exchaust all other sources first before shooting wildlife out of season. Red squirrel and woodchuck would be great, no season game options to think about. And who said, let them eat crow?
  20. I remember these like it was yesterday, LOL.
  21. If I didn't arlready have in house, Lysol, and Clorox, I would make haist to get some on hand. Both are knowned to kill Coronavirus Covid - 19 and Sars. Anti bacterial will not; need Virucidals or anti viral products. Those two products just might make a good stock option to buy right now, in a declining stock market.
