  1. Do they know what caused it? Keep a positive attitude and hope your home soon.
  2. My second food area is lighter soils and bone dry again. I dug some new potatoes this morning; pretty dry in the hills. Funny how some areas in New York are wet, with others so dry. I believe other areas south of me in Northern Erie County are dry.
  3. Second area planted about 22 days in. Lighter soils are dry again. The oats are during well but the radish is stunted. Maybe 5 inches high. This little guy stopped by to check his food sources, LOL.
  4. A big thank you goes out to all the members that donated. I would like to "point out" the September 28 th deadline is fast approaching. Still trying to" rack up" a few more prizes for the contest. I'd like to post pictures of the goodies a week or two ahead. Anyone wishes to donate, pm. me for my address.
  5. I don't know if I'd wear a Buffalo Bills hat while hunting. The Bills make you want to shout, kick your heals and shout, come on now.............. They really are nice looking hats though.
  6. Rhinehart's should have their common winter wheat all bagged up and ready to go. Butch is usually right on the ball.
  7. Rough day yesterday. Meant 250# to the acre, not 500#. That wheat would be growing to the moon.
  8. For harvest grains, we put quarter ton of 10-20-20 to the acre. Spread up to 90# urea in the Spring. Summer fallowing your soil will give far better results. Inert matter will be decomposed, and nitrogen will be available for the wheat to grow good root system. Your only doing a simple food plot, throw on 150# and see what she does.
  9. Pot of gold would be nice, but the leprechaun would steal the show, LOL.
  10. Been their way to many times; in salvage mode coming from a flood plain. Work with the weather, LOL.
  11. last night here around 7:30 pm. in the eastern sky. Quite high up. People were pulling off along side the road to take pictures. Quite rare.
  12. Believe it or not, we could still use rain here. Their is moisture in the ground, but it's not any to wet. Sneaking 2nd cut hay off and bone dry by 11 am. in this heat.
  13. Bought a couple packs of the Rage 125's. Quite excited to try them this season. My fixed blades are still handy.
  14. Plants show what they need. How one handles the soils are also a plus.
  15. Now marks about 28 days on the first spot. Deer haven't bothered it yet.
  16. OP., We were invited to NY, State Fair a few years ago. The safety of the mount from theft overnight is in question. That ended that conservation.
  17. I have some thistle in mine. Don't hurt a thing unless they go to seed. Eliminate next growing season.
  18. This late in the game, I wouldn't worry about it. To late for thistle to mature and the deer will eat right around them.
  19. Quite a number of wild grape vines have done well here.
  20. . I stopped drinking in bars , years ago because of animal crackers.
  21. Breakfast links are still plentiful. Looks like I'll be cooking a nice breakfast in the tree stand opening bow. Scramble eggs, venison sausage, home fries, butter and toast. Everything off the farm.
  22. Went to Erie County twice this year. Don't think we'll make State. Went last year and they ended up rolling me out through the truck gate, LOL.. We buy from different food vendors, throw it in the middle and we sample it all. What really topped the list was the Chesters Gators and Tators, Dinosour BBQ, and Corn Beef Sausage. Mr. Sticky won the desert category along with good old Mint Ting a Ling from Perrys Ice Cream right here in our back door yard of Akron, New York. Always a long chat with the New York Maple Producers, Empire State Honeys Producers, and New York Conservation. So much to see and not enough time to see it in.
