It is just mind over matter. If you don't mind it don't matter. Lol Seriously though , I understand. Nothing worse than that shaky, heart in your throat feeling. For me it is as simple as pushing through and concentrateing on other things.. I just finished a roof job 2 1/2 stories up. It was my 1st one in a few years and I was not a happy camper. I was 2 days working up there before my knees stopped shaking and I could level my heart rate out and catch my breath properly..Lol...

I have sat in trees a few times, when I kept on telling myself that the tree has stood for 100 years. What are the odds of today being the last?

No doubt the meat is good! You are at home , grab the hose and give her a good washing out and she is good to go.

Congrats! Funny how things work out. I had a similar opportunity a few different times with a doe eating apples under the tree in my yard.. Just last week I stepped onto the deck headed out for an evening hunt ,bow in hand . I said to myself "naa, its not hunting". Never thought of it the way culver or uncle Nicky did. Next time she is going into the freezer..maybe....lol

I was sitting in brush so thick I could only see 10 yds. surrounded by swamp. when the 9 point with a 3" drop tine came into the opening and started browsing, it took me 10 minutes to slowly get my gun swung around to point at him. By the time I had it shouldered he was less than 15' away. Needless to say I was hooked! I was so lucky that day .I didn't even know what sent control or downwind meant yet..lol I was using a borrowed 280 rem. semi and it was good that my neck shot killed him on the spot because the gun was jammed after that shot anyway.

I used the extremes last year and so far this year.. Love them..so far ..4 dead deer in a very short distance.. It is what I am going to use until they(broadhead) influence me otherwise..

I'm curious as well. I have a doe on camera with those on her as well. One looks to be the size of a tennis ball..Btw... I would shoot the big guy in a second, even if he was 100# on the hoof...Lol Maybe even better, it would make for an easier drag...ha
-
200# deer on the hoof wouldn't be that unusual.. I have shot and seen more than a few that weighed 180-190#s.. dressed. But maybe only 1 or 2 that topped 200#s..

How many?....Lol...my 1st few sits I may have seen 4 squirrels.
-
Here's a pic..Lol.. maybe if he survives my Fil I will see him again with antlers..he had some pretty big nubins...

Personally, I pass on fawns. I usually have good luck getting all the meat I need every season. If this wasn't the case i might change my mind..Lol. I would rather shoot 1 adult deer than 2 little ones for an equal amount of meat.. One of the first times I actually felt bad for shooting a doe was when I shot one a few days ago... She came out all by herself, I shot her , being that it was still early I sat for another hour. A few minutes after the shot a little button buck comes out and wanders all over under my stand .bleating his fool head off..maaa, maaaa! Maaaa! . I did feel a little guilt.

True, I am going to miss those 4 days..lol

Taken from the DEC website for the regular season buck tag...... Antlered Deer Only Exceptions: Antlered or Antlerless During the regular season in Westchester Co. and during any season in Suffolk Co. In Areas restricted to longbow hunting only During late season (with bow or muzzleloading privilege) September 27-30, in the Northern Zone with previous season's unused tag and bow privilege
-
4 if you had a bad previous year in northern zone.

Nothing today, but I shot a 110# doe yesterday.. it has been the worst early bow season I have had in years...I think maybe the 70-80 degree weather has something to do with it...lol

Every chance you get...I reallize I am not the norm. My family and my happiness comes 1st.. I never( at least try to) put myself into a position where I cannot say %$$@ em. Al sorts of saying about what you will regret on your death bed..Not many of them work related, unless you are lucky enough to do what you love.. Of course I have led a happy albeit not wealthy $$ life..

Nice! These bows and accessories are pretty cool.. Still 100 times harder to kill a deer with vs a rifle..imo...

Not sure about states, but if I was going to own land and hunt in another country , it would be New Zealand.. elk,red deer,Sitka, whitetail, pigs,.... The list goes on .the last I heard , open seasons on all without bag limits.... -
Personally, I have never needed to mark my spots or trails in ,no matter how distant.... .Stay tuned for news story about 43 year old Lisbon hunter lost in his own woods now that I have put that out there...lol
