  1. Nice I need see thru mounts for my.new toy.
  2. I know of 3 single women, 2 married, and 5 girls that have all taken up hunting in last few years, I'm sure there are I know but I dont know they hunt. The local school. Has a great program and many school age children are in it and have taken up hunting and trap.. you can watch their hunts on tv on C.R.C.S. outdoors.. I see this as a continuing trend at least in this immediate area although I hope it spreads to others.. they are offering a safari for school kids across the usa right now
  3. Loose powder, ( will let you get most out of your gun) a good pistol lead bullet in a properly sized sabot. Slower velocity max expansion.. do not feel you need to max out you powder charge I would bet those with firing pin problems were max charge and most likely pellets ( making mini pipebombs)
  4. I sit with my feet up like using a footstool in my living room....lol I've even lay down and taken a nap...
  5. Beaver is best bait for fisher and black bear that I know of . Dec uses it at camera traps for Fisher, and many books tell of bears tearing beaver houses apart looking for them. You said it was a favorite meat and the critters seem to agree
  6. I have a adrenalin, and I never hold my bow and draw longer than a few seconds.. I never understood why people do? Perhaps I just hunt different.. I set my stands so deer come from behind me, they pop out at 10 to 18 yards either broadside or 1/4 ing away, head goes behind tree I draw aim and release.. simple head movement looking over my shoulder is all I need to confirm its deer I want to shoot or not.. I use my ears, I do not want to watch a deer coming for hundreds of yards.. My personal experiance is deer are spooked by the hunter moving into position , more than drawing their bow ,and by setting visual stands by the time the deer get to them they re all worked up and draw at wrong time or move while deer is in view.
  7. When the technology has changed enough to make it a true upgrade, that being said mine is now 10 or so years old and nothing has changed enough to warrent buying a new one.
  8. They should push a bill with out everything in it ,just one for legal all bow season.. you can change the rest of the specifics pull , ect in future.. I know that will tick people off but there are many legal xbow that are fast and accurate that one could buy. Compound bow was done the same way , with use of a release, fiberoptic sights all coming at later dates.
  9. Got a chance to run out to taxidermist and picked up my nephews bear head he got in youth hunt 2 years ago. took these on his wall quick, dropped off my bobcat , will be a year and a bit to get that full mount back ...
  10. Not at all.. 45 acres next to me sold for 47500
  11. Size has to do with numbers on tree, as well as apple type. If you have trees that are over grown you will need a 2 or 3 year plan to get them back into shape. Hard pruning can be a shock to the tree resulting in more water sprouts and more work.. less is more when your getting old trees back in shape
  12. I reach up and cut esophagus, and I ring the anus /vulva/ penis. ,i do not split pelvis not cut up past cartilage on sternum, can gut deer in a min or so this way.. the key to this is a 2.5 in blade preferably a drop or clip point
  13. The county law I enforcement will not enforce un constitutional gun laws... what will happen eventually is a case will have to be tried before supreme court ( thankfully trump is making it conservative) and hopefully all the gun laws we hate will be struck down as unconstitutional and removed.
  14. So now we need to know what the state defines as loaded.. powder or projectile or both... seems like removing primer unloads it in vehicle so I would gather its powder and projectile...
  15. 4 to 5 year old clear.cuts and Aspen/poplar stands. The proper habitat is key for grouse If snow is deep enough will be on ground under snow and will go up into trees to eat buds and catkins. I never hunt early for grouse in winter as they dont seem to be out and about till later am.amd disappear by mid afternoon
  16. I use to put plots in for neighbors down the road , told them they were small and wouldn't make it to season, stopped making them when I saw them with truckload of apples late in fall that year.. now they have no plots and no help...
  17. You would have to look up the legal statute, I remember is use to state propellant and projectile loaded from muzzle.
  18. You will see loaded from muzzle required in hunting syllabus and these will be illegal...
  19. Looks to be same one. Amazing how they can survive from year to year.. I really believe our biggest bucks die of old age never seen by hunters after they are 4 or so..
