Still to much snow here for frost seeding ,but I did get out and get some more apple trees pruned few crossing and interior limbs ,mostly got rid of bear damaged limbs that were broke. Took top off of one tree they busted pretty good. will let limbs sit about 2 weeks and put camera on them, deer will clean them up pretty good before I pull and pile them. To frost seed under trees.

Deer carcass - curious about what killed it.
G-Man replied to Curmudgeon's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Possible cat ,possible winter kill crack open leg bone if red jelly winter kill , creamy whitish paste was healthy deer kill. Def not coyote they usually hit guts 1st. Fisher and bobcat start at anal opening.. and usually can see neck wound if cat dragged it down where they collapse esophagus -
A favorite from a turkey trapping/banding project on my place a few years ago.. melting snow always reminds me of this photo. Thought it may get some of you in the mood.
-
The tree and vegetation is not native to ny.. most photos of Trophy or strange animal are readily dismissed if you examine the background.. like the one that was a mountain lion in springville ny. A few years ago..with granite out droppings and ponderosa pine in background...

I'd remove whole thing now, you prolly shifted chimney and flashing at roof line will leak ruining all your work. Remove it residue even if temporary, fix roof then fix inside. Jmo.

Remove everyone , insurance loves to jack your rate because you have one.. and 90% of time they are unused .

His whole basement and garage .forms he ordered in like 25 at a time.. had like 10 stands that reminded me of motor stands that all had forms and mounts on them in various stages of work or drying.. was always a treat to go se all the racks hanging from basement and deer racksfrom all over the USA and canada.. really gave perspective to what a big deer was to me when I was younger.. I remember a few of will primos racks and a few from kirby's distinctly and my uncle telling me they were from canada.. racks with boards taped so. The wouldn't shrink as they were close to b& c.. some in velvet he had to strip and use a new method of static electrolysis. Before he had to put preservatives in it via injections .. crazy things I got to see him do over the years.. I always wanted to get into it but he told me I like to hunt to much to be toad down to take in heads and mount during season.. in hind sight he was correct..I'd rather be out myself..

Having grown up watching my uncle work for almost 50 years and eventually he just specialized in deer and elk. Had lots of hunting celebs send him work . I told taco years ago his 9 pt was a bad mount when he got a 10 pt here he won a mount from a good taxidermist when the 2 were put together he said yep I see what you mean. I do not think he keeps them insane room either for that reason...

Uncle use to do 350 in 10 months.. working on 2 or 3 at a time like assembly line and had several drying while working on others.. sent hides out for commercial tan..

Corona Virus Thread
G-Man replied to Al Bundy's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
This virus can live on a surface for 27 days.. china is washing its $$ literally washing it with disinfectant. Items shipped from china are a real threat, today the is talk of upgrading it to a pandemic from health organization's.. not something to mess with.. https://www.syracuse.com/news/2020/02/coronavirus-evacuees-in-alabama-anniston-fema-facility-will-house-cruise-ship-passengers.html?utm_campaign=ta_23844147481920433_23844147481710433&utm_content=23844147481870433&utm_medium=test_partner&utm_source=facebook Is running about a 3% death rate for those exposed .. so if 390 million in usa were exposed about 12 million would die.. -
I have hung 2 cameras in same spot( different models/makes) surprising what one or other misses.. a 180⁰ set from each other has been useful picking up mature deer that quickly learn to walk behind 1st camera as well.

Negative, I believe different, the rt brow doest hook, left beam in night photo clearly shows as a 3 pt side not a 4. Related probably perhaps a twin brother. Or half brother.. he will be bigger next year if you mean as a year older possibly but possibly not, flip a coin no one will ne able to prove or disprove..

It's a box elder, member of maple family bark similar to ash. Leaves more maple like ,pretty much useless even as fire wood, good logger would of dropped them and let rot.

arctic shield boot insulators
G-Man replied to 2012_taco's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
They work but are only good for so many steps, fine if you can get close to stand and not walk far.. a day of still hunting would wear them out The cheap ones are not worth it .
