  1. Yes I was responding to 4 seasons if corn was fed year round microbes would be present for digestion. As baiting usually takes place in Hunting season they would not.. standing corn by farmers and by people who just wanted to feed the herd would be eaten on from planting till it was gone..
  2. I would still take my 1st deer with bow same as I do now I enjoy it even in to the crossbow season . But i take my crossbow out when I filled that 1st tag with bow.. fortunately I seem to take a deer fairly quickly with bow and still continue to hunt with it till crossbow opens then I use that..
  3. I dont mind the draw weight and with restrictions they are there to keep it on the same level as a top of line compound
  4. True but Not a legal possibility with wild deer in nys. Or many others as baiting is allowed only in season there..
  5. Standing corn is not a sudden supply . They have been nipping tassels, silk, tips of ears, and kernals off it since it was growing .. This is another huge difference between a food plot / crop and baiting for those that insist there isnt a difference
  6. I'd really.like to see seasons split up with week or two between them.. but I'll take whatever Albany gives me
  7. Take them down asap..put in barn shed basement .. saves damage from elements and cant steal what isnt there. Had 1 stand stolen off my.place in 26 years a friends who I told to take it down several times. His answer was I'll put it back up in same spot.. went turkey hunting in may..stand was gone...
  8. Crazy.. I'm thinking habitat work and you guys are still shooting..
  9. It's not the taxes ..we are the end of the pipeline.. no refineries.. so most expensive to ship it to.
  10. When I contacted marlin about my.45 -70 I was told the reciever could handle pressure same as a ruger model no 1. I have shot compressed load with .454 catsull bullets and hat a lot of fun.. the new remlin my friend bought cant handle the hand loads I did and had to be sent back for repair.. main reason I'd always look for an mxxxx serial number or an rmxxx one now.
  11. Why are you afraid of a 45-70 recoil is minimal. It was based on 45 cal bullet fired by 70 grains of blackpower. 45-90 and 45 -120 were popular buffalo chamberings. Most guys I know think nothing of dropping 100 or 150 grains of powder down their 50 cal rifle and shoot .45 or 44 cal bullet in a sabot yet they dont want to shoot a 45-70... smh.. smooth shooting multiple shot muzzleloader is how I look at it..
  12. Should be able to as there was a spot for crossbow on tag and a seperate muzzleloader spot
  13. Why would someone want this when it is all in a chart already???
  14. The new generators out out a huge volume of o3 and times to run are recomend for each the old ones didnt put out much maybe 5000, the new can. Put out 50000 . Running to long will oxidize your clothes. As for it working I have deer plenty close down wind and dont use it. I am rarely scented if I'm busted it's from movement trying to raise bow or position for a shot ..and prolly half of those times is from making noise while moving. I know the fad and science behind it.. o3 is unstable and the 3rd oxygen molecule de detaches and combines with other molecules as a free radical thus " destroying the cause of the oder" it works but it also brakes down other molecules the same way. Think of the car tests where they simulate 10 years in a chamber. The same Is done over using ozone to cleanse.
  15. Ozone destroys fabric especially elastic. It's a powerful oxidizer.. you will be buying new hunting clothes much more often...
  16. Simply they are saying more people that took their deer to their processors reported them when they checked tags there.. if processor told you make sure you report it as dec is here every other day.so you dont get fined .you probably will.. their formula is still a guess unlike many other states that have mandatory checkpoints you must bring deer to get processing tag 1st. And still just a guess on how many people process their own deer and never report... hard to properly manage when using best guess method...
  17. Cash deals no sales tax to state.. and dont pay SSI. Reduced taxes because the disconnect electric ..yet I still pay if it is out front of my vacant property it's considered improved even if I dont use it.. many little loopholes they use. .
  18. 1. how much scouting do you do of an area? preseason? during the season? Most scouting is done after the season and right after snowmelt, runs scrapes and trail are all evident. Preseason summer scouting will tell you what foods are available, acorn, apples, hickory nuts, ect. 2. What time (minutes before sunrise) do you walk in in the morning? What if the official park open time is sunrise? At least a 1/2 hour before daylight if allowed 3. How far is is recommended to walk in (distance and or timewise)? Do you pack some of your layers in a backpack so to not overheat? Terrain is the bigger factor than distance most will take an easy route deer learn this and hid in nast places sometimes far in sometimes behind the neighbors house. 4. Is it common or advisable to hunt till sundown, so you are walking out in the dark? Always hunt till last legal time . Learn to walk out in dark using compass if need be.or gps 5. Is it allowed, common or advisable to bring in a sled or deer cart? chain it to a tree? leave it overnight? I would carry drag rope maybe a roll up sled if going long way in. Carry less = less sweating 6. Is it allowed, common or advisable to leave the following overnight?: a. hanging stand (but maybe walk in with the ladder/sticks part)? b. climber stand. c. popup blind Check rules regs for land your going to hunt some can be set up and left as long as your info is attached 7. Is it allowed, common or advisable to make a natural blind with downed trees and branches? 8. How common is it to hunt on the ground vs. in a tree? Use to be only legal way.. it's better imo to be on the ground and mobile on public ground as you can move to where deer are if need be 9. Is it allowed, common or advisable to put out trail cams? with locks, fwiw? check regs. 10. Has anyone ever hunted on public land where you legallycamped overnight and then hunted in the same area? Allegany state park even has cabins you can rent. 11. Is it better to hunt weekdays instead of weekends? my best luck is Tues thru Thursday for walking/ still hunting.. everyone is off on weekend pressure become much more intensive 12. Any internet source that discusses which public lands arebetter for deer hunting than others? Particularly in WNY? Or isthat not generally discussed as hunters don't want to let others know about their good spot? contact dec , rangers are good sources. And if they have an interactive educational center maps are usually available. Do this in summer not season 13. Is it allowed, common or advisable to enter the public land from other than the parking lot, if any? From the side of the road? Have someone drop you off so you can enter different than the parking lot? People park where there are no cars. If you can get dropped off between parking areas , many have rules about not leaving vehicles on roads ( plowing limit dates or seasonal roads closings)
  19. Area is fine date is bad for me will be out of town for work
  20. Been like that there since girl got killed crossing Walden and they were forced to allow city busing on to the property
  21. Cant tell you how many times I've had to kick them off friends property.. they say well this is all gods.. I respond well God doesnt pay the taxes ..think they got hint last time when I told them if I found them there again they wouldn't be going home.. they look at me wierd..I then explained I own a back hoe and their buggy, horse and themselves would not be found. Havent seen them since.
  22. No sure but original article said he already.paid it in full
  23. Cash deals no. Tax, no school taxes.. some of the most.corrupt people I've ever met. Even had one stealing short cuts of firewood I had in a plie. Another was adding water to maple syrup.. have never seen any good come from them in the neighborhood
