Yet you do so voluntarily.. that is my point many people are doing it it should.not be mandated. I do the same on my place but I always let the hunters decide for themselves..perhaps they have limited time to hunt this year.. or a new older hunter,or a new young hunter.. I do not need this state telling me what I can or not shoot.. they try and.manage multiple towns 100 sq miles.. I know what my.property needs and can handle they dont.. if they want them.on state land so be it. Its the states. The deer I pass on my place are shot on neighbors every.year.but they seem to be waiting for one of the big ones to leave may.place as well thus passing up bucks that are never on my place improving the herd there as well.. it's not needed mandatory as it is working with out voluntarily.. as you yourself have done ..

Well I shot my 3rd deer of the year sat afternoon a buck that had shed its horns already. I donated to a friend who has a family that could use the extra meat. While he was skinning it out this fell out.there was wound in its neck and I assumed it was a rifle shot that passed through.. amazing what these animals can live through. I believe it to be a crossbow arrow by its thickness but could be bow just as well... am seeing who in the are may of hit this buck if I can find out.. not to many hunters around other properties. But they wander..may never know

Best of luck for the most favorable results

A used marlin 45-50 pre Remington purchase.. should have serial no starting with mxxxx not rmxxx they have the strongest receiver and can be reloaded with max.load intended for single shot rifles. Winchester and Henry are nice but top eject does not allow for scope. My personal choices would be marlin 1895 guide.. marlin 1895 special purpose. Then a Henry with steel receiver, then a Winchester. Rossi does make a 45 -70 lever as well but not familiar enough with them to make an opinion one way or another.

I pay way more for electric than gas. Was cheaper and less costly to install. Wire was crazy expensive when I built.my.house The way i work I just throw in dryer and dry. Or I'd hang to dry. Propane dryer can get very hot .. i only.use medium heat setting on High I've melted nylon zippers I use about 600 gallon of propane a year for all my hot water and cooking and drying on a 3000sq ft home.

Start with loose powder 50 grains and go up 5 grains at a time then 2 grains you may need to shoot 90.. but sighting in with less save powder and your shoulder.. my uncle had same issue 150 grains of pellets and shit group 2 pellets better group. Ended up. At 85 grains...making cloverleafs..

This state considers a crossbow a muzzleloader..nothing it does surprises me

There was just a hunter in wny who went out and apparently tried to jump a creek slipped hit his head and drowned . He was reported missing by his family nearly a month ago.. the found him in 30 min search at his camp almost a month later.. let someone know where your going at the least!!

Where do you order your trees and how much are u getting
G-Man replied to Zag's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Dunstan, Chinese are short broad spreading orchard tree. I have several dozen pure american and I hope that crossing with dunstan will make a blight resistant forest tree.. I get production from whips in 4 or 5 years.. trees are a long term deal.. not looking for super quick if you need fast chestnuts and hazelnuts also known as filberts would be better. -
Jealous or irate neighbors are the worse it's good when you build up a relationship with the dec when they keep showing up due to neighbors calling.. it's better when they tell you what the neighbors reaction is when they tell them they are barking up wrong tree and if they keep it up. They will be getting a ticket for hunter harassment!

The county and state has a very good selection but not at those heights. Transplanting trees that big require you to water and more maintenance than seedlings.. I plant lot of trees every year 500 or more no way I could water that many. The apples from the state are whips and 3 ft to 4 ft or so tall they do grow fast and are easier to establish than larger trees in my experiance I guess it comes down to where and how accessible to you they are to water, stake fence, spray they are. The chestnut I've planted have been 3 gallon container trees from native nursery they sell out fast, again a lot more prep and work including fencing required.. -
Eh nope... plus this year lots of bucks dropping horns early.. I'd be up. For 3 day muzzleloader in sept. In areas of high deer numbers. 9f for example even if doe only
-
I have heard from a pretty reliable source that x bow is now going to require the archery course next year. If that happens and it is removed from muzzleloader status I would support a early muzzleloader season in areas of high deer numbers in sept. Like 9 f.. for example

No it wasnt , as I said every property is different as well as pressure from surrounding properties

If you send me a clean pic of your place with north a d prominent wind direction. Marked I can draw some thing, bowtie,, hourglass, L shaped , Z shaped, M shaped .all will make a buck come to the pinch points to see as much of the field as possible , or get downwind to scent check it.. plot design is the most over looked thing in plotting as well as talking into account the dominant doe will not allow any other family group in that plot if she can see them , sometime s split up plot allows more deer to feed as different family groups can enter and use the field at same time. Sometimes barriers must be created to make views hard or entry points limited by deer for hunting purposes. Every property will need it's own design to fit terrain and conditions as well as population

I have 13 muzzleloader including pistols, it doesn't take long I have a 100 yard range 20 ft outside my door.i have a log book and keep a taped note inside my muzzleloader box with load and bullet for each gun.. 30 years of accumulated knowledge I need notes cant remember it all

Not a fan. Of pellets especially when sighting in a new gun.. I have guns that shoot , 72 grains and 90,110,100,95, 130, 50 ,32 and 120. Each shoots it's own bullet and weight of bullet as well. Rule of thumb is 50 cal start with 50grains and sight in left to right. Then add 5 grains and your elevation should raise about an inch for every 5 or 10 grains.. you want a sharp crack.. not much smoke. If you have a friend and he sees flame coming out barrel your burning to much powder..its simply blowing out the barrel the sharp crack you hear is usually the perfect load for the barrel length as all powder is burned and energy transferred to bullet. After that is accomplished bullet weight, type can be changed to give you better accuracy and increase distance if you opt for light bullet , ballistic tip ect.

A stripped field.of clover/ alfalfa, brassica, and a cereal grain should do most.of what you want. You would need a bout an acre of each irregular shaped with pinch points no wider than 50 yards a strip... corn or soybean would be nice but takes a lot more prep to do it right. If field is to wide and open deer will not enter it till dark narrow with angles will allow greater use as well as causing bucks to cruise entire edge to wind/ see it ..a big square field while easy to work up is not good for deer movement as one look into field and buck knows everything in the field
-
I try and take 10 doe a year off my place keeps herd in check. The number of bucks varies from.year to year but dont. Really matter in the scope of population imo. Now if my.neighbors started taking more then I would cut back. I had severe browse line and would find winter killed deer consistantly.. every property is different and pressure from surrounding owners must also be calculated in
