I am surprised at the number of pepole who would sit there to make sure he's honest. Really even putting a stand by it is strange in my opinion. If the deer funnel up that way I'd just find where they are coming from and place stand further away. To much bad blood over a damn deer. No deer is worth making a neighbor an enemy. 25 acres is not a lot but you can minipulate the habitat and change deer patterned to better suit your needs. While hunting muzzleloader we found a big 8 pt a few years ago.. most ofthe guys I was with were keep it and put it on the wall. I knew it had to be one of the neighbors so I made a few phone calls and found out it was the mother in law of one of the neighbors who we didn't have problems with but weren't friendly with either. I took said head and photo of deer off trail cam to her the next day. We now have permission to hunt their land and get invited to parties they have. A little bending on your part and you may pick up more land to hunt even if it's just for turkey or just taking a ride on atv. A threating warning or its my land stay off attitude could ruin that chance. Perhaps the owner can't go far from their house for health issues but own 100 acres down the street. you give up that spot but gain 10 more you don't pay taxes on as well as possible 1st chance to buy from said land owner if it becomes available.

Our archery take numbers are way below 50% by time gun opens in ny and less than 15% by time 1st week of gun is over in ny.. that is a huge difference and it's not from baiting as baying during gun is legal in ohio as well.

Yes but the kill in ohio is broke down weekly.. bow up to their gun season bow is still 50 % of take. So why can't you kill a doe only in 1st 2 weeks of bow? The argument being bow can't control deer number. Obviously they can.and do. The take in October in Ohio is great. . It just come down to bow hunters passing deer in ny. Only looks to be about 16 or 17 wide to me,has its ears pulled back so it looks wider ( trick taxidermist use as well) it's a good buck hope you get chance at it.

My question is what do you cosnider mid range? A 7mm is truly a long range gun. Personally I like leupold but depends on where and range you are hunting.

You guys kill.me won't hunt a spot because a shooter might walk by.. do you remember when bow started Oct 15th? I look at the 2 extra weeks as a bonus and would hunt just to get out there and get one in the freezer.. Wait a few years till deer numbers are really out of wack and they put an early antlerless only muzzle loader or crossbow season in .. then the whining will really start..

I am always amazed at people who chain and lock their stands and leave them out all year.. Best advice chain and lock them and take them down end of season.. 90% of all stands I hear about that are stolen are done well after season. Most people out during season are toting a gun,not bolt cutters. Before any of you say something I have a friend who left his stand up on my private property I told him to take it down several times in Jan and February when I take mine down via snowmobile.. he was always to busy and I didn't have key for his stand. Needless to say may arrives and I tell him take down your stand he responds well I put it back up in the same tree every year and it will be fine.. so end of may comes last time turkey hunting and he goes by his stand and it's gone, steps and all except the bolt cut lock.. I felt bad but I told him people walk through hunting I can't patrol 24/7. some one saw the stand and went back got cutters and stole it.. if it was taken down in winter it would not of been. Too much temptation aND some one will get it. Just my opinion.

It's only a goldmine if they have nuts... take a pair of.bios amd.look into the tree tops you need confirmation of ripe.nuts..my trees have dropped their nuts already due to water stress or.lack there of.. Beach nuts look good as they se to be in wetter areas that hold water better. And a certain wHite oak will be better than others why who know maybe it's sweeter but trying to hunt the right tree is most important rather than a whole grove

Well hereceived is what you do. Get a jAR of.bubbles and go to your plot with a known wind direction sw for example. Walk around the field and blow bubbles watch them. Note the time of day and how the bubbles floated. Go back dawn and dusk with same wind and do it again . Then with a nw wind ,ect. Make a bubble map, just because you have a sw wind doesn't mean I n that field the wind will be from south west ,elevation ,trees,dropouts, ravines ,all change prevailing wind.. I had to do this on a back side of a hill as my normal winds are sw or nw.. but on the backside the wind crests the hill and flows back up the hill in a west direction but there is a spot where the west winds come over the hill and continue east.. I was hunting it and my scent was blowing back into the bedding area, now I know I have to stay where prevailing winds carery.my scent away. Blowing bubbles every 30 yards is tiresome you may want to get a kids electric bubble gun

Well they aren't there every day,seems you live on the piece. Put your stand where it needs to be. You will beat them to it in the am. And hunt. I have a stand 4 ft of my neighbors line it was there before he bought the property, I even offered it to him to hunt out of. He placed one 50 yards away but to get to it he ends up pushing all the deer my way.. he since stopped hunting near.my line after pushing numerous deer and hearing the close shot and hunts the other side of his property. My stand is still there and deer leave the bedding and cross to my food plots all the time. You may think you will lose a season but you may end up the benificiary of a nice deer push as they try to get in position.

Don't do it..lol I am the laziest hunter ,longest I sit is 3 hours in good weather in bow season usually in am, 2 hours or 2.5 in evening Opening day of gun I'm back in by 9 am. Only time I'm out longer is if I'm still hunting. Getting cold is not worth a deer to me. I do ok I think ,unless you have a very good entrance and exit and perfect wind I believe your scent is increasedand exposed to deer the longer you sit. I believe in scouting knowing where to be at a certain time and being in stand 1/2 hour before and after time. Being concience of wind and entering and exiting quietly.

Will.score.maybe 130 out of velvet,beams are long and has good width. Mass seems to drop off ( 1/2 in or a bit more of the mass your looking at is velvet) brows and points are short. That being said it's still a big buck I wouldn't put it in monster class myself. Hope you get a crack at him this year. The one on the right I would consider a monster. Buck on left friend shot was 127net.

You can own it buy it or sell it, but when you have components to load it it's suppose to go on pistol permit. If you buy one that's on someone's permit you will also need a permit....
