blood trail

earlier this morning i shot a decent buck quartering away but im unsure of the shot i have blood and was wondering if any could tell me what kind of hit is it

Deffinatly wasnt a gut shot, thats some decent blood. By the looks of the thickness on the leaf i would say possible lung shot? Give him an hour or two and go claim your trophy! Congrats!!

Either way, I'd say just be patient. Give it him an hour before tracking. With that snow on the ground, you'll have no trouble tracking him.

We had a quartering away shot with bow this years. Should of given him 3 hours. We found the deer but jumped him once. Liver gut shot.

just got back from tracking hes still bleeding only went 40 yards from where i found the first blood but jumped him he ran 100 yards and still bleeding so i backed out, when he beds there's decent blood and when he runs hes still bleeding, when i shot i was alot higher than him and he was quartering so does it make sense if maybe i only hit one lung or is there a possibility of a flesh wound?

if he only went 40 yards after the shot and bedded, chances are it's more than a flesh wound..............leave him as long as you can.

Give the deer time. We had good blood for 75 yards and then jumped the deer. Blood just like you are showing. When we jumped the deer he stumbled a bit and there was a good blood bed where he laid.

Did he bound off, or walk off??

Most likely liver, maybe one lung. But then again you could have hit it anywhere who knows. He is hurt, thats why he bedded down close, typical of a liver hit.

FYI,

I hit a deer in the brisket this year and tracked for a long time. He never bedded down, I think your deer is hit pretty good.

It sure looks like liver and deer behavior also says liver. You should be able to sneak up on him in a couple more hours. Good luck.

he walked off he stumbled once but he wasn't running and he must of been watching us when we got to around forty yards he jumped out of some brush and walked away but no shot

Give him as long as you can stand it, preferably over night at this point it aint worth jumping him again. If not track slow and keep an eye for him bedded and try to sneak in for a finisher.

Looks to me more like a high hit one side/one lung and out the brisket. My cousin hit one like that a lot of years ago and we tracked it on hands and knees in the dark with a flashlight we had to keep hitting to make work. In the end we (me first) crawled within feet of it as it was bedded and laying there looking at me. It looked real angry and I felt real NERVOUS. We quietly crawled back out on the same trail with me just waiting to feel that little six point rack in my backside. Went back the next day and it had moved a few yards and was still alive. It jumped up and I put it down for keeps. We didn't have near the blood you have though and judging from your past picture, I bet if you go back again he will be pretty close and dead in his bed. If you jump him after it is dark you have no chance of taking a kill shot,

The latest pic looks like lung blood. I bet you find him in the am but i agree with everyone to back out.
