I think most of you are missing his point. I don't feel any differently about those who make spelling and grammar errors. But if you were to write a letter to a senator or a letter to the editor in support of our second amendment rights, or hunters rights I'd hope you would be representing us well. And if you don't care how you portray yourself, I find that odd but that's your issue not mine. But in some cases you represent a group (the 2 cases I mentioned above), and you should care then. Nothing will make your argument fall on its face faster then coming across as uneducated.

Belo people tend to say what they mean. A letter to anyone should be as proper as possible. I see teachers at school misspell words. I don't think my doctor can spell at all but i know what he means so no big deal to me. Most people these days are going to use a program that will correct grammar and spelling before emailing a letter, unless you are like lawdaz and don't have spell check.

Paula , proper grammar is as important as spelling . People use words like except for accept , etc .. It isn't so much a big deal on a hunting site but if you are sending out a formal letter to your Senator , Congressman , etc , you should be able to converse in an intelligent manner . I have certainly misspelled words on sites by trying to type fast and have been lucky enough to be able to make a correction after posting ( sometimes ).

ps ---- I hope my spell check is working !

Wonder if Einstein could spell? How good was his grammer?

But he was a scientist, not a politician, lobbyist, teacher. He wrote with numbers and not with words. I know what you're getting at and I agree and that's why I said that ones grammar or spelling doesn't change my opinion of them. However, we "debate" a lot on here. And when I read a post laced with typos and misspellings it detracts from the message that person is trying to convey and comes across as uneducated... fair or not.

Not sure what reality tv has to do with grammar or vocabulary, explain please.

Do you think your grammar and spelling would improve if you read a book instead of watching American Idol or Jersey Shore?

Some of the smartest people didn't even graduate high school. Some people learn "hands on" and some learn "by the book who cares". If you go around saying people are dumb or an idiot because of the way they talk or spell you are the one who is missing out!

Relative to official letters to corporations, legislators and such, your language expressions should mirror whatever importance you attach to the issue. Like it or not people do judge you by your language, and if you are serious about getting the kinds of responses you want, particularly issues of request or opinion, it's probably a good idea to use what you were taught.

Funny you think i watch those show, well I don't watch either of those shows. I read more than you think, i was told last night to get a life and to stop reading so much . . .. who would have thunk lol

I'm not sure why you took that personal. I wasn't directing it to anyone in particular.

I agree with the letters to congressman, senators, and lah-dee-dah, but the original post was directed towards hunting forums. Belo, do you know you start more fires than you put out? Give up on the t.v. crap. It makes me think thats all you do, since you talk about that stuff so much. Edit.... forgot some punctuation, sorry language police.

It is somewhat laughable, albeit also somewhat sickening, to see some of you try to justify your obvious stupidity. The intent of the original post was to merely suggest that what you write, defines you. Therefore, you should be careful about what you write...lest you portray yourself as an idiot. And, the troll bit.....way overused....by those that have no other arguments. The whole troll concept was created by a subspecies to give credence to its gibberish!
