Check out this crazy tree stand

Just saw this on QDMA's facebook page.  Apparently someone found this chair 18 feet up in this tree chained to it.  Guess it has been there for a few years with the growth around it.

i mean you can get a tree stand on sale for $20... metal chair strapped to a tree is classic tho lol

I suspect that chair was ground level when attached.

Phade, if you put a nail in a tree at 4' it will always stay at 4'.  When a tree grows it only grows outward hence the rings in a tree.  The branches on top continue to thicken and grow creating the appearance of the tree growing upward.  So someone climbed up there and strapped this sucker in there.

I agree that it was probably hung there intentionally, but I forgot that trees don't grow upwards...............woops. I might be grasping here but at some point the tree has to grow upwards. lol, just raggin' on ya'. I see what you mean though, barbed wire through the middle of big ol' trees is at the same level as the day it was strung. Interesting.

I've seen bench seats from a car fastened to trees a few feet up.

That makes a pretty strong argument against safety harnesses!

I'd have hated to be strapped into that stand when the tree decided to swallow it head first,lol

My uncle left a Baker Climber up in a tree 20 years ago.  He'd climb up a ladder and then step onto the stand and hunt.  The ladder was pulled and the stand is still up there but is all messed up and at an odd angle you wouldn't believe.

Yes, I remember when commercial tree stands were not even thought of. Most of us went to the woods with boards, hammer and nails and built structures in the trees. But apparently there were others out there that had some different ideas about how to provide a high place to ambush deer. This is the first time I have ever seen this one though .... lol.

I am betting the wooden platform that was under the chair is since, long gone.
