noodle one
Is it just me or are there fewer road killed deer along the highways and road ways. Back in Oct I saw a few doe dead along the road, that was it. This time of year in pass years I would see one or two everyday or so.. Three out of five would be a buck., this year not one buck let alone a doe. I live in 7S and only ten min away from 40. How are things in your neck of woods? DCHunts
Its because the state put a lot more deer crossing signs up. So they know where to cross safely

BUCKANDAQUARTER
I was just talking about this with someone! Mid October I saw one huge doe on the side of the road. I drove up the road there was a new Subaru Forester parked on the shoulder and the front end was just obliterated. Looked like they drove it until it overheated. Other than that nothing at all. beachpeaz
I saw the biggest buck I've ever seen dead on a road the end of October. Had I not been driving to Montreal, QC I would have pulled over and called the DEC to keep the rack.

First-light
Well it could be all these jobs Obama created. There has to be a few more of those guys out there picking up the road kill for the state???? lol
Geno C
i was talking about this with my dad on the way up for opener, we counted like 2 RK's on 17 the way up and maybe 2-3 going home. very strange... usually their all over the place. i wonder if it means good rutting activity is extremely late this year??? but if so then that would make fawn survival for the following winter a bit rough to make it though if they are born to late. landtracdeerhunter
Haven't seen the road kills as much here, the last few years. I think the ones that get hit don't lay there long. I know I've got some very good venison of them. Edited November 26, 2013 by landtracdeerhunter
Five Seasons
104 is usually littered. not very many this year. could be they're picking them up quicker though. Thew few I saw weren't there for long. But yeah the ruts been a little strange this year. I blame the weather.

Four Season Whitetail's
On 390 between Mt Morris and the thruway there were 13 dead on the Sunday of opening weekend. Most were young bucks with one being big enough that somebody decided to cut his head off. I most places i saw less but going down every weekend in Nov showed alot of dead ones in that part of #390! TeeBugg
Saw her too. Theses always a few there and I can never figure it out. Both sides are fenced and heavily populated... Parents use to live in newark...1/2 mile from the highschool right in town. Deer would literally run thru the yard and eat behind the pool lol they are some weird creatures. One year there was a few hit right in town... Edited December 3, 2013 by TeeBugg

Doc
Yeah, we have a pile of roadkilled deer around this year. Some of them are just downright gruesome.
WNYBuckHunter
Saw her too. Theses always a few there and I can never figure it out. Both sides are fenced and heavily populated... Ive seen plenty get hit on 490 in the city of Rochester. The fences on 104 arent that tough for a deer to walk around.
Four Season Whitetail's
I came back down #390 and the Thruway Sunday and man with all that snow you can see some deer. Its hard to say there is a shortage of deer if you really watch. There are a ton of deer that either live between the North and South or East and West lanes or they just get stuck there! There was a pile of them all the way to Cuse!
