When do tags go on sale?

Has anyone heard when licenses will go on sale?  I spoke with an outdoor writer, he says the DEC is keeping quiet about the date for a soft first day of sales.  The DEC is worried that the new system will crash with the normal first day rush.  I was told it was either the 4th or 11th but nobody really knows.  Have you heard anything?

TheDEC website says the 4th. I don't know if it's better to go on the first day or not if you are applying for doe permits.

People are saying the 4th.  I always went with the second Monday in August. I'm a bit confused on this change in the way the DEC. are running things this year.

They go on sale the 4th. I believe going to be the first Monday of august in the future

The date went up as the license is now going to be effective on 9/1 rather than 10/1.  So they wanted the extra week of sales before

I haven't. I usually get it last week of july but not this year. Im hoping ill get them soon.

From what I have heard this will be the last year to use any unused prior year deer tags in the "early" (september 27th to sept. 30th) season in the North.  Get out and fill the freezers.  I won't be able to as i will be taking my wife away for the weekend for our 5th year anniversary.  She knows though after we get back its all hunting season!!  Thats why I keep her! HAHA

Regardless as to when Big Game Licenses go on sale, it will be interesting to see after the season ends as to how many licenses were sold ( if one can find that information), the number of DMP's sold and filled, and the overall deer take.

 

Will the trend in hunter decline within the state continue, will the deer overall deer take change, will hunter reports of kills improve?

 

Who knows.

still no life time tags in the mail as yet. Another site says people are having all kinds of issues with getting on to the system. How about places like Walmart or Dick's ????

Logged on yesterday and no problem .... obtained  my DMP also !

   Got all my new license & tags today at the town hall. Got the same as always & it would cost me $98.00 every year. This year they cost $97.00  thank you king Andy for the great decrease !!

Got mine today online. Didn't buy the fishing license yet since my current one is good till 9/30
