Waldershrek
I'd rethink Muck's after their HSUS stunt

You wont be disappointed. I put a ton, ton, TON, of miles on mine so far, and they are the first boot I've ever owned that's headed into its second hunting/shed season. I don't like to plug any brand or model based on average results. These are an affordable top o' the line boot or I wouldn't have have bothered to mention them.
genesee_mohican
Rocky Bear Claw. Waterproof, warm and durable. The pair I have now must have 50,000 miles on em and still going strong.

NFA-ADK
Rocky makes some good boots. I would go to a local store and try some on. Nice to compare to others in the store. Boots I like to try on due to application and use.

If wooly says a pair of boots last, I'd trust him. Guy puts more miles on shed hunting than I do all year. I may have to look into these myself.
Waldershrek
I have some older Rocky rubber boots (forget the model) that are 1000 gram insulated that are awesome. Not that loose sloppy flip you get with some rubber boots, quiet, not overly bulky and very warm. They've held up for at least 5 years now too. gfdeputy2
Has anyone tried the Lacrosse Alpha lites? found a decent deal on them but not sure I want to switch from my Bogs?
Culvercreek hunt club
I wear rubber boots if I am not doing a lot of walking and it will be very marshy. The ones I have fit loosely because the way my foot is I have a terrible time getting them on and off. My go to boot (on my 3rd pair) is the Irish Setter Elk Trackers. warm, waterproof with a fully gusseted tongue. comfortable and great traction. They have held up better than any boot I have ever owned. Edited August 15, 2014 by Culvercreek hunt club
nyantler
I have always been a Wolverine guy... I just like how there is no break-in period with them... fit like slippers right out of the box... I do have a pair of 1000 gr Field & Stream rubber boots for those really wet days... anything is better than the old K-Mart pack boots and a plastic bread bag from when I was a kid!!

VT Outfitter
I bought my first pair of Danner's this spring and I love'em. They are a leather boot 10" high, water proof, and breathable. Expensive, but I am glad I got them. Before now I used Asolo leather hikers, nice but after about 100 mile mark they are falling apart. I also have a pair of Under Armor knee boots in camo for archery hunting. They hug my foot really well, but after hiking in a mile or more they get sweaty. So for the long hikes I use a pair of Scent Blocker 8" uninsulated. I got a boot for every application that I come across. I got more hunting boots than my wife has for shoes......HA! chiefbkt
You can't go wrong with the Muck boots. I have 2 pair and have no complaints about either. I bought the Under Armour boots last year and really like them as well. Don't cheap out on boots. Try some on and get the ones that are comfortable. Personally, I prefer a good leather boot for walking and only wear the rubber boots when I know I will be walking in deeper water. If you plan on walking a lot or do a lot of still hunting, skip the rubber boots and get a really good pair of lace ups.
AaronBlaine
go with a pear of merrels they are amazing! I used em for the entire dock building all year and they still don't leak a drop! $200.00 for the best pair of boots I have ever owned. loworange88
I bought a pair of lacrosse burly's 2 seasons ago on clearance, as they were discontinued. 1200 gram thinsulate and they come upto just below my knee. Best pair of boots I've owned. Super warm and water proof. I do a lot of walking in the spots where I go, they are holding up just fine. thphm
My herman survivors I can't remember how old they are and the leather is like new. ( except for cuts and scrapes ) Every year this time of the year, I clean them and then heat them up with a hair dryer ( gets the oils into the leather ) then while warm put a good amount of Snow Proof or Mink Oil on rub it into the leather, let it dry for a while and wipe off the excess after an hour or so.
